The End of Times (la fin des temps)

According to the Japanese Meteorological Office, this summer (June to August) in Japan was the fourth hottest in 114 years.

The hottest was the last year's summer.  So, you may think that the global warming is still going on that the two of the four hottest summers in 114 years have been experienced in these two consecutive years.

But you may also think that the momentum of the global warming has come to cease.



SECTION I: End of Times

As it has passed 4000 years since the emergence of Abraham and 2000 years since the rise of Christ Jesus, we will have to accept any upheaval or a great change in the society of mankind.

But what do they teach in the three great religions?

Signs of the End Times

ISLAM:
Major and minor signs will reveal that the end times have arrived (Sura 21:96, 27:82, 43:61)
Major Signs:
1.  Gross materialism
2.  Women outnumber men
3.  Muslims defeat Jews in battle; Muslims and Christians battle unbelievers together, then Muslims defeat Christians in battle.

Minor Signs:
1.  Increase in bloodshed and war
2.  Contraction of time
3.  Religious knowledge decreases
4.  Prevalence of the ungodly 

JUDAISM:
Ten signs will accompany the Messianic "birth pangs" of the end times (Sanhedrin 97b).
1.  The world is either all righteous or guilty
2.  Truth is in short supply
3.  Inflation will soar
4.  Israel begins to be repopulated
5.  Wise people will be scarce
6.  Jews will despair of redemption
7.  The young will despise the old
8.  Scholarship will be rejected
9.  Piety will be held in disgust
10.  Jews will turn against Jews 

CHRISTIANITY:

First of all, the God and religions of men are two different things.

We may assume that the God gave a religion to Abraham's followers, Christ Jesus' followers, and followers of Islam, but they might not have 100% faithfully and honestly accepted it and expanded it.  While followers of those followers are now saying that they respect the God, they minds might be very far from the teaching of the God.

Just think!  How many people have you ever seen who love the God more than themselves and their money?   If such people as love themselves and their money more than the God claim that they respect Abraham, Christ Jesus, and Islam, how can you trust them?

Therefore, teachings in each religion must be carefully studied.  Their teachings must be under the influence of the limit of faith in the followers.  So, signs of the end of times each religions assets must be carefully checked.

Anyway, it looks like that something bad will happen when the end of times is approaching.  For some, WWI was the sign.  For others, WWII was the sign.  And, for the rest, 2001 and 2008 must be.  But, for believers it must be 2010 rather than Newton's 2060.

So, the year 750 must be the starting point for Newton's calculation of adding 1260 to obtain the year of the Second Advent. Accordingly, we can get 2010 as 750 + 1260 = 2010...

Although the city (Pella) was still inhabited as late as the tenth Century CE, it was the deadly earthquake of CE 747 that ended its long history as a city of major influence in the region.

As everybody knows, a rich man is afraid of a poor man.

If a rich obeys a teaching of Christ Jesus to give his money to a poor man, the poor man would be richer than he.  Then, a poor man might buy a weapon with the money for use to extort more money from him.  Accordingly, a rich man does not give his money to a poor man despite a teaching of Christ Jesus.

That is why rich men any country do not want to pay tax, since poor men would be able to spare and keep more money as their tax duty will become less.  Poor men would then use money for weapons for use to extort more money from rich men.  To protect themselves from poor men, rich men do not like to pay tax.

Basically, a rich man tends to think that a poor man is as mean and bad as he is.  And he knows such a man should be neglected if he is starving, since he is so mean and bad.

So, you need courage, even if you are a rich man, to give money to the poor and pay tax enough.

Or otherwise, a rich man is just foolish or crazy to pursue wealth without limit against the teaching of the God.

There is a homeless man in Japan as televised so recently.

He said, "I am more than 90 years old.  I had been in military service for 18 years..."

If this respectable old man had been in service till August 1945 when the Empire of Japan collapsed, he must have been first drafted into the Imperial military in 1927.

The, it means that he had already spent ten years in the military of the Empire when the Shanghai-Nanjing Battle started in the summer of 1937.   It is incredible.  He must be respected.


SECTION I: Pearl Harbor Attack in 1941

It is not an easy and simple task to send 6 aircraft carriers and other war ships to Hawaii from Japan even in December 1941 without being noticed by the whole world.

More specifically,

The Mobilized War Capability by the Empire of Japan for the Pearl Harbor Attack:
Aircraft carriers: 6
Battle ships: 2
Heavy cruisers: 2
Light cruisers: 1
Destroyers: 9
Small submarines: 5
Carrier-based planes: 350


This was the world first air-craft carrier centered task force at the time.  No naval forces of any other countries, except the U.S.,  in the world at the time could match this naval task force of the Imperial Japan's Navy.  Yet they expected to encounter the following U.S. Naval forces around Hawaii.


U.S. Forces in Hawaii:

Battle ships: 8
Heavy cruisers: 2
Light cruisers: 6
Destroyers: 30
Other naval ships: 48
Patrol planes: 14
Ground-based planes: 399


If both the fleets had met on the ocean off Pearl Harbor, it would have been mutual destruction.  The Imperial fleet should have lost at least one third of their ships and ship planes if they had been able to sink half of the U.S. ships and shoot down half of U.S. planes.


But, it resulted in one-sided victory of the Imperial Navy, since the U.S. military could not find the Imperial fleet approaching Hawaii before the start of actual assaults on U.S. ships in Pearl Harbor from the air.


If you observe it now carefully, you will see that it is a very courageous act of military operation on the Imperial Japan's side.  The U.S. Navy should have detected their access, which was commonsense at the time, though the American Government did not order fleets and troops in Hawaii to be alerted beforehand.

And, most importantly, this attack was aimed at solely U.S. military facilities and personnel.  The casualties on the American side in Pearl Harbor were as follows:
Deaths of military personnel: 2,345
Deaths of civilians: 57

In addition, it is an incredible fault on the American side that they could not notice a big Japanese fleet consisting of 6 aircraft carriers were approaching Hawaii where a great American military base was set up.    While the fleet came just 200 miles off Hawaii, they could not find it.  It is their fault.  It is not a matter of one-hour delayed declaration of war by the Empire to America.



SECTION II: Truth of Pearl Harbor


The task force of Imperial Navy of Japan made attack planes, including Zero fighters, take off from flying-off decks of six aircraft carriers at 350 km (220 miles) north of Hawaii.

On July 25, 1941, the Empire of Japan advanced its troops and fleets to Vietnam following an arrangement with the French Government that was under control of Nazi Germany in Europe.

On July 26, 1941, the U.S. Government froze assets of the Empire kept in the U.S.

On August 1, 1941, the U.S. Government imposed oil embargo to the Empire while crude oil the Empire imported from the U.S. accounted for 70% of all the oil consumption within the Empire.

However, on July 31, 1941, Chief of the General Staff of the Imperial Navy Admiral Nagano met the Emperor to report the situation: "If diplomatic relation with the U.S. should be broken, we have oil reserves only enough for two-year operation.  If it should be aggravated to war with the U.S., we would consume oil fuel in one and half years.  Accordingly, we cannot help but take action launching war (in order to take an advantageous position in future negotiation with the U.S.)."

In August 1941, Japanese Prime Minister Fumimaro Konoe sent a letter to US President Roosevelt to propose a summit meeting to solve the urgent diplomatic issue between the Empire of Japan and the US.  Roosevelt praised the contents of the letter to be about to accept the offer.

In early September 1941, Roosevelt changed his mind to reject the offer for the meeting by Konoe, leading to resignation of Konoe.  Army General Hideki Tojyo succeeded Konoe.  But Tojyo couldn't change the tide while both the countries were getting determined to exchange fire, though very implicitly, especially, in the US.

So, the Imperial fleet attacked Pearl Harbor, and the Imperial Army advanced to South East Asia to occupy oil fields which were mainly in Indonesia.

(Of course, to get oil fields in Indonesia, then colonized by the Netherlands, the British military forces in Singapore and American troops in the Philippines had to be conquered or destroyed.  So, very easily, the Imperial Army and Navy defeated them after the Pearl Harbor Attack.  The Imperial troops did not advance to South East Asia to simply rule or harass local Asians there.  Anyway, this Imperial Japan's victory over Western powers in South East Asia led to independence of local Asians from their colonial masters after WWII.)

Nonetheless, the U.S. had requested the Imperial troops to withdraw from China before July 25, 1941, which the Imperial Army could not accept, since the Imperial Army had already borne a heavy burden sacrificing many soldiers in China.

So, the Japanese-Chinese War in the Chinese Continent that started in Shanghai in August 1937 turned to be a fatal cause of Pearl Harbor Attack in 1941, eventually.

Finally, today, New Prime Minister of Japan Mr. Yoshihiko Noda formed his cabinet.

However, PM Mr. Noda appointed relatively young politicians to the ministers of Finance and Foreign Affairs, respectively.

Even Mr. Noda himself is the third youngest prime minister of Japan among those in PM Office after WWII.

Anyway, all he has to do is to promote recovery in the tsunami affected areas and the nuclear radiation hit areas in northeast Japan.  Yet, I have a feeling that we will have the fourth prime minister under the DPJ regime next year, since the DPJ took over power from the LDP in September 2009.

New Prime Minister of Japan Mr. Yoshihiko Noda is yet to form his cabinet, though he was designated so on Tuesday.

While leaving the public speculating about a lineup of his Cabinet, PM Mr. Noda has met leaders of the opposition parties, business circles, and the labor world.  It is not good.  If the greatest financial crisis of a century and the greatest disaster of 1000 years occur today, nobody is in charge with effective power and authority in the Japanese Government.  Mr. Noda should form his Cabinet and get appointed as such by the Emperor as soon as possible.

Though Mr. Noda is expected to perform better than leaving and former PM Mr. Kan, I have a feeling that it will be enough for him to act as prime minister of Japan for a year.  It is so, because the ruling DPJ plans to hold an election to choose a new head of the party next September (Sept. 2012) since Mr. Noda's terms is just an extension of Mr. Kan's which started last year while the term of office for the head of the DPJ is two years.

Then who will be the next prime minister to succeed Mr. Noda next year?  Maybe, the controversial old boss Mr. Ichiro Ozawa?

Finally and most importantly, democracy of the 21st century requests a change of a prime minister or a president in every fiscal year.  This must become the norm as observed in Japan.



SECTION I: Mystery of Nanjing in 1937 

Where were Chinese troops?

Where were Chinese troops in December 1937 when troops of Imperial Japan laid siege to Nanjing and broke into the city, the then capital of China?

Where were Chinese troops in December 1937 while 600,000 Chinese soldiers and 200 Chinese military planes had been mobilized by the Nanjing government for attacks on Shanghai where thousands of American, British, French, and Japanese soldiers were stationed for defense of the city, between August and October 1937?

Where were Chinese troops in December 1937 while 90,000 Chinese troops around Nanjing were expected to meet 120,000 Japanese troops who were advancing from Shanghai to Nanjing destroying more than 400,000 Chinese troops on the 300-km path along Chang Jiang (the Long River) from Shanghai to Nanjing?

Where were Chinese troops in December 1937 when Chiang Kaishek and other Chinese leaders being terrified by strength of the Imperial Japan's Army were fleeing from Nanjing to Chongqing though they just appointed a general to defend Nanjing who however also ran away from the besieged big city Nanjing leaving his soldiers?  What is worse those abandoned Chinese soldiers got panicked putting on civilian clothes and abusing helpless Nanjing citizens to conduct desperate guerrilla-type battles without effective military command.

Where were Chinese troops in December 1937 while 200,000 Chinese citizens were abandoned and forsaken by them in Nanjing?

Where were Chinese troops, specifically around Nanjing, in 1937?

Anyway, to hide their shame, all China can do today is just falsely accusing Japan of having killed 400,000 innocent Chinese citizens in Nanjing around December in 1937.

But, where were Chinese troops?  Indeed, 400,000 Chinese soldiers were destroyed, dispersed, and driven away by the Imperial Japan's troops between Shanghai and Nanjing while Chinese troops had been trained and supported by Nazi Germany since 1930 or so.

Now you know where Chinese troops were.

Note that Nanjing City has an area size of 6,597 km2 while New York City just 1,211 km2.  There are many room for citizens to run away and hide from  ravages of war.  Especially it took several months for battle lines to have extended from Shanghai to Nanjing. 


Also note that Chinese troops did not surrender, or Chinese politicians and generals did not try negotiations with Imperial Japan's Army generals so as to avoid battles on the streets of Nanjing.  Chinese leaders did not make any efforts to avert military actions on the streets of Nanjing which could involve many citizens.


Indeed, from the beginning, Chinese generals tried to invade Shangahi violently where millions of Chinese, Europeans, Americans, and Japanese as well as Judaists were living peacefully.  They craved wealth in the then most prosperous international city in East Asia Shanghai.

The Chinese Government never ceases to blame Japan for incidents in WWII or the Second Japanese-Chinese War.

But, today what are they doing?  They are doing terrible things in Tibet which make us deny their claim on Nanjing in 1937.

SECTION I: Fukushima Contamination

According to a recent survey or a recently released survey result by the Japanese Government, a village around the Fukushima Daiichi shows 10 times more radioactive contamination than the evacuation area in Chernobyl.

Even some cities scores of kilometers far from the Daiichi Plant show an equal radiation level to the evacuation area or the forbidden area in Chernobyl.


The evacuation area in Chernobyl has 552,000 becquerels of radiation, and the forbidden area in Chernobyl has 1.48 million becquerels.


This  evacuation-area level of Chernobyl roughly matches green or light blue points indicated in the map below of the surrounding area of the Fukushima Daiichi Plant. 

Those areas around Fukushima Daiichi are mostly contaminated by cesium-137 that has a half-life of about 30.17 years. To decontaminate the ground around the nuclear power plant, it needs $120 billion of government budget, according to estimation.

The past Kan Cabinet is accused of delay in releasing or concealment of these data about Fukushima Daiichi. Many Japanese citizens are shocked to hear the true state of environment around Fukushima Daiichi.

SECTION III: Noda Cabinet of Japan

Though the national Diet of Japan elected and designated Lower House member of the DPJ Mr. Yoshihiko Noda as new prime minister of Japan yesterday, Mr. Noda is yet to form his Cabinet and thus yet to be authorized by the Emperor.

The past Kan Cabinet is in charge of executing the governmental administration till new PM Mr. Moda completes due process for starting his administration. It is expected that new PM Mr. Noda will complete formation of his Cabinet in this Friday, that is September 2.

The Constitution of Japan

article 6.
The Emperor shall appoint the prime minister as designated by the diet.
The Emperor shall appoint the chief judge of the supreme court as designated by the cabinet.

article 69.
If the house of representatives passes a nonconfidence resolution, or rejects a confidence resolution, the cabinet shall resign en masse, unless the house of representatives is dissolved within ten (10) days.

article 70.
When there is a vacancy in the post of prime minister, or upon the first convocation of the diet after a general election of members of the house of representatives, the cabinet shall resign en masse.

In the cases mentioned in the two preceding articles, the cabinet shall continue its functions until the time when a new prime minister is appointed.

Democracy (la démocratie)


New Japanese Prime Minister Mr. Yoshihiko Noda learnt in a notable school to educate youths and citizens who wish to become a politician.

The school was founded by legendary founder of Panasonic, a Japanese electronics giant, in 1979. Among graduates from this school 53 are now active as parliamentary members. Four-year education and training in the school might have contributed to success of lawmaker Mr. Yoshihiko Noda. However, there are many Japanese who do not trust this kind of the so-called "elite political education."

New PM Mr. Noda leads a faction only consisting of 20 or 30 lawmakers in the ruling DPJ where 400 parliament members belong. So, he cannot decisively and maybe fatally stand against one of big bosses in the party Mr. Ichiro Ozawa who is said to control 100 or so lawmakers in the DPJ. As former PM Mr. Kan fought against Mr. Ozawa, it looks, he could not achieve any administrative success, resulting in virtually forced resignation. So, the situation is still floating in the Japanese domain of politics.



SECTION I: Democracy

First of all, true democracy means, say, to have 6 prime ministers in 5 years. Only Japan can do it. So, you had better respect Japan in this context.

If you can recall the U.S. President every year through a vote in the Congress, Mr. George W. Bush should have been denied his presidency by 2006. Then, Osama bin Laden should have been taken on by 2008 and the Financial Crisis in 2008 could have been avoided.

To have 4-year long presidency is completely irrational in the 21st century democracy. The U.S. should have 6 presidents in 5 years as the situation is so grave in these years.


SECTION II: Fukushima Prefecture Land Contamination

Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology issued a report on radioactive contamination of land of Fukushima Prefecture where a big nuclear power plant accident occurred in the wake of the great earthquake/tsunami of March 11, 2011.

Paddy rice fields around the Daiichi nuclear power station are strongly contaminated, Many farm families are not only forced to abandon rice growing this year but also to leave their house and villages due to strong dosages in the environment. Total 80,000 citizens around the Daiichi plant have been evacuated to live in towns and cities far from the nuclear site.

Appendix. Imperial Navy's Attack on US West Coast in WWII

On September 9, 1942, a Japanese Yokosuka E14Y floatplane launched from a Japanese submarine and dropped two incendiary bombs with the intention of starting a forest fire. Thanks to a group of fire lookouts and favorable weather conditions the damage done by the attack was minor. The attack was the first time the continental United States was bombed by an enemy aircraft.

It has been decided today that the Japanese governing party DPJ is going to elect lawmaker Mr. Yoshihiko Noda, the incumbent Minister of Finance, as the next prime minister of Japan tomorrrow.

In the party election held today to choose their new head, lawmakers of the DPJ elected Mr. Noda with 215 votes against the major contender Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry Mr. Banri Kaieda who got 177 votes. In the final official step, Mr. Noda needs to be elected in a vote in the Lower House of the national Diet. Incidentally, the most popular candidate Mr. Seiji Maehara could not even proceed to the final vote in the party election.

In this context, Japan is unique. Indeed, when Japan closed itself to the outer world from the early 17th century to the middle of the 19th century, it had a population of only about 30 million. Now Japan has 125 million population to feed. Japan has to import a great amount of foods from abroad unlike other G7 countries.

And, in the period of national isolation of Japan, samurai governed the nation. And, due to an influence of Buddhism in this period, Japanese people did not eat animal meat, such as beef, except whale flesh. So, strength of samurai was rather related to whale flesh but not to beef.

Today, some Japanese people do not take the whaling issue as a mere environmental or natural protection issue.

It looks like part of a large-scale anti-Japanese conspiracy in some part of the Anglo Saxon countries.

The oldest written mention of whaling in Japanese records is from Kojiki, the oldest extant Japanese book, which was written in the eighth century. In this book whale meat was eaten by Emperor Jimmu. In Man'yōshū, the word "Whaling" (insanatori) was frequently used in depicting the ocean or beaches.

Food, Clothes, and Houses are needed by men to live a civilized life.

So, McDonald's and Wal-Marts provide necessities for Americans.

But, houses are not so easy. They were associated with subprime loan mortgages to eventually trigger the 2008 Financial Crisis. Even today, housing construction is a big concern for Wall Street guys.

As for clothes, America imports many clothing items from China to sell them at Wal-Marts, which helped China expand its economy and GDP. Eventually Chinese are now buying many GM cars and Apple products such as iPads.

Now foods and food tickets. They are items that really prove that the U.S. is the largest economy in the world. I don't know how many people die from starvation in America each year due to the lack of money.

Finally Christ Jesus said "Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?"
