The Basics of Contemporary Japan


It was a big surprise that Mr. Colin Powell and Ms. Condoleezza Rice did not take a major part in the Republican Convention for officially endorsing Mr. McCain for U.S. Presidency.

We might have to review the basics of the contemporary U.S. society and mind sets later.

PART 1. The U.S. Market

The most important thing for Japan is still the U.S. market even 63 years after the end of WWII.

Free and direct access of Japanese businesses to American consumers has been the most valuable thing for Japanese industries.

To secure the free and direct access to the U.S. market is the most important political issue in Japan, though it has not been so loudly discussed, since the U.S. Government has seldom acted against the Japan’s interests in this context.

Yet, the business world and the economic community of Japan always request the Japanese Government, Japanese bureaucrats, and Japanese politicians to give the highest priority to securing the free and direct access of Japanese businesses to the U.S. market.

In order to secure it, all the influential people in the business world and the economic community of Japan think that the Japanese Government should accept any political requests from the U.S. Government.

That is why Japan has allowed so many U.S. military bases to be maintained on the Japanese territory; Japan cooperates with the U.S. in the War on Terror; Japan has purchased so many U.S. Treasury bonds; and Japan mostly overlooks even greedy activities of U.S. financial institutes in the Japanese market.

It is all for securing the free and direct access of Japanese businesses to American consumers.

It is because the free and direct access to the American market is the wealth base of Japanese businesses.

However, today, China has become the largest export and import partner for Japan; the U.S. is now accordingly ranked as No.2.

The emergence of the huge market in China is not a matter of happening. It is a fruit of Japanese long and tireless efforts to open and expand the Chinese market.

Until several years ago Japan continued to provide various financial, technological, and other economic aid and support for China for decades (while China was illegally obtaining Japan’s industrial properties, offering strategic economic aid to African countries, and financially helping American politicians in a dubious manner).

That is also why non-nonsense Japanese businessmen never trust Japanese liberal politicians who blindly attack and blame Japanese conservative politicians for their policies toward the U.S. which are all intended to secure the free and direct access of Japanese businesses to the U.S. market.

(In my definition, Japanese liberal politicians mean those who have received money from North-Korea associated businesses and individuals living in Japan. And, Japanese liberal journalists mean those who are associated with Japanese liberal politicians.)

And, it is not Japanese liberal politicians and journalists that have cultivated the Chinese market as well as the U.S. market; but it is the Japanese Government, LDP, and Japanese businesses and ordinary Japanese workers producing and providing high-quality goods.

However, when the U.S. Government took a hostile policy against Japan by mistake, like in the case of the Clinton Administration due to its shallow understanding of relationships between the two major global powers, a strong sense of crisis would arise in the Japanese economic community.

As a matter of fact, Japan truly needed a Prime Minister like Mr. Jyunichiro Koizumi and the U.S. really needed a President like Mr. George W. Bush at the beginning of 2001, regardless of their lack in genuine love to poor citizens.

If you simply laugh at Mr. Jyunichiro Koizumi for his unconditional respect for Mr. Bush’s policies and think that then Prime Minister Mr. Koizumi is just a person of frivolous disposition, you are proving that you will fail and be disqualified in the board of directors of any non-nonsense Japanese company being engaged in the U.S. market. In short, I just meant that you cannot govern neither Japan nor any Japanese company such as Sony and Panasonic.

That is why I am telling you that the U.S. market has been the largest asset for Japan since the end of WWII to this day; and Japan has paid as much as possible to secure and keep it while no liberal journalists made an effort to cultivate and maintain it for the benefits of Japanese workers.

From a historical point of view, Japan is regarded as being very smart or smarter than American elites in this context, since American elites would not essentially pay a penny to make Japan the second largest economy after WWII.



PART 2. Comparison with Germany, Britain, and France

Some Japanese economists and journalists sometimes say that Japan is not smart at all in comparison with Germany, Britain, and France, since those three European countries often show reasonable independence from the U.S.

Comparison of Japan with these European powers is not so meaningful if you forget that they have a sense of superiority to the U.S. as the birth place of the material and spiritual civilizations to which the U.S. fully belongs.

First of all, German industries have had two big markets: the European market and the American market.

The German Government has not needed to make such great efforts as Japan has made to grow the Chinese market.

For German businesses, the European market was assured them of form the beginning as the safeguard for their profit making.

France is not an excellent country at all, though millions of Japanese regard France as the most advanced country in terms of culture.

It is said that those who cannot write reasonable French sentences account for 30% or 50% among residents in Paris.

French colonization in Asia led to brutal deaths of three millions under the Pol Pot regimes in Cambodia after WWII, though specifically in the wake of the end of the Vietnam War.

French colonization in Africa led to brutal deaths of one millions in Rwanda a decade ago.

Britain is out of question. Their royal family is one example. They do not respect moral.

British colonization generated today’s terror in the Middle East and South Asia

That is why I am telling you that you must not blindly learn from, or respect anything in, Germany, France, and Britain.

Yet, if you love European culture, start your study from the emergence of Jesus Christ 2000 years ago, since everything valuable in today’s Europe is rooted in Jesus Christ.

Causes of ice ages

The causes of ice ages remain controversial for both the large-scale ice age periods and the smaller ebb and flow of glacial–interglacial periods within an ice age. The consensus is that several factors are important: atmospheric composition (the concentrations of carbon dioxide, methane); changes in the Earth's orbit around the Sun known as Milankovitch cycles (and possibly the Sun's orbit around the galaxy); the motion of tectonic plates resulting in changes in the relative location and amount of continental and oceanic crust on the Earth's surface, which could affect wind and ocean currents; variations in solar output; the orbital dynamics of the Earth-Moon system; and the impact of relatively large meteorites, and volcanism including eruptions of supervolcanoes.

Some of these factors are causally related to each other. For example, changes in Earth's atmospheric composition (especially the concentrations of greenhouse gases) may alter the climate, while climate change itself can change the atmospheric composition (for example by changing the rate at which weathering removes CO2).

William Ruddiman, Maureen Raymo, and others propose that the Tibetan and Colorado Plateaus are immense CO2 "scrubbers" with a capacity to remove enough CO2 from the global atmosphere to be a significant causal factor of the 40 million year Cenozoic Cooling trend. They further claim that approximately half of their uplift (and CO2 "scrubbing" capacity) occurred in the past 10 million years.

Indeed, in Japan, if you shout, “Another Ice Age is coming!” you will not be taken as a mad man.

Deplorably, in Japan, if you shout, “Jesus Christ will come again riding on the cloud!” you will be taken as an agent of some cult if not a mad man.

On the contrary, they are all crazy to love money and position so much while they will die even before the next ice age comes.

Don't you feel Jerusalem any close if so intangibly?

Anyhow, you will understand why EEE Reporter living in the vicinity of Tokyo, Japan, must argue every holy thing ultimately associated with Jerusalem.



SECTION I: JERUSALEM

Why must it be Jerusalem - the sacred center of the world?

In other word, why is Jerusalem situated at the very location?

A Japanese journalist so wondered when he travelled the holy city decades ago.

Whenever I watch the world map, I cannot help but get marveled at how reasonable it is that the sacred center of mankind is situated at the junction of three continents: Africa, Europe, and Asia.

This alone can be a miracle that persuades any member of mankind to believe in the God Almighty who called to the place Abraham and his family of a certain tribe who seems to have belonged to the Sumerian Civilization, gave the direct commandments to Moses who hoped to reestablish the basement of Israelites on the city, and projected His Personality on a man named Jesus of Nazareth, if allowed to put this way.

Indeed, the God is fair to Africans, Europeans, and Asians.

Yet, you may love to see more discussions as to why it must be Jerusalem.

Actually I have confirmed my theory with the NASA picture:

Jerusalem is at a location actually functioning as a gateway between Africa and Europe/Asia.

Any military troops advancing to Africa or Europe/Asia must pass the narrow area between the Mediterranean and the Dead Sea in this region now called Palestine or Canaan. And on the most effective highland in this area was established Jerusalem even before the coming of Abraham who further travelled to Egypt.

Jerusalem was built at a critical and strategic point for defense, assaults, and other military operations between Egypt and the Mesopotamia or its derivative civilizations. It can be confirmed so when viewed in various scales of time and space.



SECTION II: ANCIENT EGYPT

Collaterally, you may notice one more enigma as to why ancient Egyptians could not occupy the whole Mediterranean region so as to be another Roman Empire. If Alexander the Great had failed in conquering Egypt or ancient Egyptians had conquered Greece and Macedonia before the era of Alexander the Great, the history must have been completely different, since there should not have been the Roman Empire and the Vatican.

In this context, the decisive war was the Battle of Kadesh fought by Egypt and Hittites in 1274 B.C.

It should be also noted that around 1250 B.C Moses led his tribe out of Egypt.

The geographical conditions around Jerusalem had hindered Egypt’s invasion of Asia but also protected Egypt from Asia while preparing the stage for the future development of Israelites.



SECTION III: MONGOLIANS vs. EGYPTIANS

The Mongol Empire after occupying Baghdad decided to take on Egypt in the 13th century, and a decisive battle occurred between invading Mongolian troops and defending Egyptian troops in the Jezreel Valley in Galilee in 1260, which is called the Battle of Ain Jalut.

It was a very complex situation since the Christian Crusaders were also engaged in their own wars there then.

This battle is considered by many historians to be of great macro-historical importance, as it marked the highwater of Mongol conquests, and the first time they had ever been decisively defeated. After previous defeats, the Mongols had always returned and avenged the loss, but after the Battle of Ain Jalut they were unable to do so. The Mongol Ilkhanate leader Hulagu Khan was not able to advance into Egypt, and the Khanate he established in Persia was only able to defeat the Mamluks once in subsequent expeditions, briefly reoccupying Syria and parts of Palestine for a few months in 1300.

If the then Emperor of the Mongol Empire, Mongke Khan who was a grandson of the legendary founder of the Empire Genghis Khan, had not died suddenly before the war, the commander of the Mongolian troops being prepared to destroy Egyptians would not have left the front line so urgently to return to his homeland and his troops must have done their job so well as usual. It must have been so since the Mongolian commander was a brother of the deceased Emperor or Great Khan.

Then, with this momentum, Mongolian troops consisting of unmatched horse soldiers must have invaded Rome to destroy the symbolic city in the Middle Ages, making European Renaissance impossible eventually.

If Palestine was a vast plain, Mongolian troops must have overwhelmed Egyptians even without the strong commander.

Anyway, in historical reality, with this momentum, Muslims could succeed in expelling Crusaders once and for all decades later.

It should be also noted that a decade after the Battle of Ain Jalut the branch of the Mongol Empire in China, namely the Yuan dynasty, tried to invade Japan in vain.

It was so mainly because the samurai class had been already established in Japan and Kamikaze (holy tempests) timely raged on thousands of invading Mongolian naval ships off the Japan's shore even twice.

In my interpretation of the history, the God did not allow ancient Egypt to conquer the world like Alexander the Great and the Roman Empire since around 1300 B.C.

Instead, He gave Egypt a special role to put an end to the Mongolian conquest and advancement around 1300.

The significance of this proceeding of the history is made manifest on Marco Pole, the first European who travelled to China, then called Yuan Dynasty, the major offspring of the Mongol Empire.

Marco Polo wrote a book on his experiences in China in addition to a rumor about royal palace of Japan roofed in gold.

While he knew of Mongol attempts to invade Japan, Marco did not claim that he had been there. However, he states that gold was so abundant in Japan that the emperor’s palace was entirely roofed and paved with it. Marco’s was the only reference to Japan in Western writings before the 16th century.

In the above context, Jerusalem is truly situated at a location to give special fates to ancient Egypt, the Mongol Empire, Japan, and the American Continents.

Paradoxically speaking, Christianity must have started there, departing itself from ancient Judaism, which would be however another story.

Now you know why Japan must be situated here, Tokyo must be situated there, and my residence must be situated exactly at this coordinate point, since it is regarded as a critically great strategic point in whatever scale of time and space.

It is so since you know I am allowed to be beyond time and space sometimes, though without intended mistakes.

Japanese Buddhism and Mathematics


Some Japanese politician once said that politics depended on the number of the Diet (congress) members; the number of Diet members depended on money; and thus politics was all about money to control Diet members as many as possible.

However, if voters come to hate money, things will be different even in the United States.


SECTION I: Master of Misunderstanding

Generally speaking American elites have no ability and capability to learn anything valuable from Japan.

However, without any wisdom learnt from Japan, American elites think that they can understand China, while Japan shares the similar value system and the similar global and historical view with America but China does not.

That is why American elites fail often; but some Japanese pundits and critics give too much credit to American elites in terms of their ability and capability.

Those Japanese think that American elites are on purpose making mistakes in dealing with China and the rest of the world except Japan, since American elites are wise enough to understand Japan and Chine very correctly and profoundly, which is however against the reality and fact.

That is why this morning the Mainichi Shimbun newspaper introduced a comment by an American pundit that the Beijing Olympic Games impressively displayed that China has become a great country and the Russian invasion of Georgia has proved that Russia is going to regain its international status as a super power.

Yet, the truth is that the Beijing Olympic Games had nothing but exhibitions of fireworks and mid-air suspension which were designed to hide China’s huge problems in politics, industries, and civil right issues; the Russia’s invasion was nothing but inability to be respected by neighbor countries as a great nation.

In summary, the two incidents concerning China and Russia, the two old-fashioned, potential military super power in the 20th century, only showed they are still the two old-fashioned, potential military super power without respect from the world; and American elites are not smart enough to correctly and profoundly understand the truth as they were in the 20th century, which some Japanese cannot believe so as to think American mistakes have been all made on purpose for some significant interests and strategies which however do not exist at all.

The reason for some Japanese critics blindly praising American elites for their intended or planned failures, which are so perceived but genuine failures in reality, is simply that there are so many Nobel Prize winners in the United States.

Yet, there are many talented Japanese of the Nobel-Prize winner class so good at science and engineering, though they are mostly pious Buddhists.



SECTION II: True Ability in Understanding

It is well known in the Japanese academic society that first-rate Japanese scientists are often excellent learners of Buddhism.

Even their excellent works are often developed and realized based on their intellectual ability and capability cultivated by Buddhism.

However, it is different from the way Indians have been traditionally good at mathematics and philosophy.

Kiyoshi Oka, a notable Japanese mathematician, was pursuing some mathematical problem from before WWII when he quit a teaching job for some mysterious reason at a certain university in a local city in Japan.

When he found the solution to the problem, he visited his friend in Kyoto University to commit his paper to this old friend for submission to the French mathematical association.

The friend, a professor of Kyoto University, later recalled that it had been a big surprise to see his old friend, Kiyoshi Oka, looking like an old farmer in rags and tatters for the first time after the War.

Anyway, the mathematical paper was further entrusted by the professor to Hideki Yukawa, the first Japanese Nobel Prize winner, who was about to go to the U.S. to see Albert Einstein. Subsequently, Yukawa met a Japanese mathematician who was then working in the U.S. to ask the delivery of the paper. The Japanese mathematician immediately contacted André Weila, a notable French mathematician working in the U.S., who sent it to Henri Cartan, the then head of French mathematical association.

Half a year later when Kiyoshi Oka took a teaching position in a university through a help of his old friend, he got a letter from France that Oka’s hand-written paper must be typed and then it would be printed in the academic journal since his paper had superb value.

In this way, the mathematical work Kiyoshi Oka had accomplished while living in true poverty through WWII, selling his humble properties for money, eating potatoes he had grown, and praying to Buddha, was introduced into the international academic community to be one of the greatest basics of the modern mathematics.

He continued and presented his work vigorously so that some French scientists thought Kiyoshi Oka must be a representative name of a group of Japanese mathematicians, since his work was so vast, influential, and fruitful.

Indeed, Kiyoshi Oka was a unique mathematician even from a Japanese view point, since he often chanted Buddhism creeds to purify his mind so as to concentrate the work of his mind to a target problem.

SECTION III: Faces of Women

Kiyoshi Oka, a notable Japanese mathematician, is also well known even today 30 years after his death as a unique critique.

He wrote that his study on Buddhism critically helped him in his work in mathematics.

Kiyoshi Oka once wrote in his commentary that faces of Japanese women changed drastically after WWII.

Japanese women's faces turned to be more animal-like from flower-like after WWII, according to his observation.

As an effect of education is more clearly perceived on the face of young people, it is a grave issue.

As boys were not so deeply influenced by emotional, sensible, and humane aspects of life as girls, Japanese boys’ faces after WWII were not so drastically changed; but they showed half the effect girls were receiving in the Americanized society of Japan after WWII, according to his observation.

Indeed, for some traditional Buddhists, the faces of Western people look like those of animals, since pious Buddhists don’t eat beef or any other types of meat which is associated with killing of living things.

And, it looks like that the more the Japanese society is influenced by the Western material culture, the more the Japanese look like animals.

Kiyoshi Oka thought that it represented erosion of the traditional Japanese spiritual culture.

As a matter of fact, the standards of beautiful women in Japan have become very close to those in Europe and America.

However, it tells a crisis of the inherent Japanese spiritual culture, according to the great Buddhist mathematician.

(The educational policy of the former Abe Cabinet of Japan seems to have been partly influenced by the teaching of Kiyoshi Oka, though the then Prime Minister Mr. Shinzo Abe appointed the first female Defense Minister, namely Ms. Yuriko Koike.)

If it is true, it can be alarmingly applied to Koreans, Chinese, other East Asians, and even Indians or Muslims.

The Anglo-Saxon-style money culture is also making pious American Christians put on faces more animal-like than angel-like.

Most of Japanese, including pundits and critics, often overestimate American elites.

On the other hand, European and American elites, except true experts in specific fields, have no ability and capability to understand Japanese.

Nonetheless even in Japan, only the Kiyoshi Oka class experts, respected so much by Western experts, can find a grave crisis of the Japanese spiritual culture by realizing the change in Japanese women’s faces over WWII.

It is so grave, since it also tells a grave crisis of Christianity that once took animal-like faces off Europeans living in the south and the north of the Alps so as to have them long for Angel-like faces.

Devils riding on the global diffusion of money culture are destroying traditional flower-like faces of Japanese women and angel-like faces of Western women.

It is because money is a kind of poison that destroys an internal face of man if some claim it being a panacea.

Truly words of the God are a panacea without any side-effect as a poison that destroys an internal face of man.

And, that is why I am telling you to let Muslim ladies wear the vail so piously.

If a Japanese Prime Minister suddenly announces his resignation, there must be erosion gravely going on in some underlying sphere that has supported his functions for so long.

If an African American is suddenly elected as U.S. President, there must be erosion gravely going on in some underlying sphere that has supported functions of European Americans for so long.

Nonetheless, as I have neither European parent nor African parent, I can completely objectively discuss the thing of this sort.



SECTION I: A Lesson from the Arctic Summer Warming

Let’s check the following article on the arctic sea extent:

Let’s say that the amount of whole coldness of the arctic, 100 in a certain unit, consists of that on the surface sphere (visible) and that in the underlying sphere (invisible), equally, namely accounting for 50 of the total coldness, respectively.

The total yearly inflow of heat into the arctic, say 10 in a certain unit, is divided as 1 into the surface sphere and 9 into the underlying sphere.

So, every year, the coldness on the surface of the arctic decreases by 1 to 49, while the coldness in the underlying sphere drops by 9 to 41.

Yet, there can be a transfer of coldness from the underlying sphere to the surface sphere in the amount of 1, resulting in recovery of coldness in the surface sphere to 50.

Also, there can be an amount of coldness, say 10, generated every year in the underlying sphere, resulting in recovery of coldness in the underlying sphere to 50.

With this equilibrating, the coldness in the arctic has been kept at the level of 100.

But, if the total yearly inflow of heat into the arctic increases to 20, the coldness on the surface of the arctic decreases by 2 to 48, while the coldness in the underlying sphere drops by 18 to 32.

After the transfer of coldness, the cold state will be 49 in the surface sphere and 31 in the underlying sphere. Further if the generation of coldness in the underlying sphere is weakened to the level of 9, the underlying sphere will have the coldness of 40, eventually.

Therefore, while the coldness decreases only from 50 to 49 at the surface, the potential to keep the surface cold has dropped from 50 to 40.

In this example, the progress of warming in the underlying sphere is 10 times faster and larger than that in the surface sphere.

So, at one point, while the change in the climate on the surface in the arctic has been so far slow, it can suddenly show a drastic change to warming. It is because the underlying sphere will lose a capability to absorb the heat and also cool the surface; Consequently, every heat will flow into the surface sphere without the transfer of coldness from the underlying sphere, causing a drastic drop of the level of coldness, say from 40 to 30, 30 to 20, and 20 to 10 in a certain unit of coldness.

Put simply, if the underlying conditions that support certain equilibrium on the surface are damaged, broken, or taken away, a rapid change or effect becomes manifest on the surface of a system since the equilibrium is lost.

And, this system can be a political community as well as the nature of the arctic.



SECTION II: Spiritual Culture as Underlying Capability

The power of civilization must be also divided into two spheres: the surface sphere and the underlying sphere.

The national power can be also divided into two spheres: the surface sphere and the underlying sphere.

And, Max Weber thought the underlying sphere of the European/American civilization is Christianity, specifically Puritanism in the modern era.

To put it briefly, the global economy based on modern industrial and financial activities is still mostly supported by Puritanism as underlying capability and capacity.

European races think that their civilization consists of two elements: the material sphere and the Christian sphere.

The former corresponds to the surface sphere and the latter to the underlying sphere.

They do not think that without the underlying sphere, namely Christianity, no material civilization matching theirs is possible.

Therefore, traditionally they thought that no Africans and no Asians could match European races.

“Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism, and Islam are all inferior to Christianity in terms of capability and capacity to develop and sustain the material civilization,” thought Western scholars and pundits including Max Weber.

Max Weber is quite right in identifying Puritanism as underlying capability and capacity for European/American modern civilization and material success.

Yet, Japan became the globally fifth strongest military power after the Japanese-Russo War and has grown to the globally second largest economy after WWII while Japan is not a Christian country at all, which Max Weber could not explain due to his insufficient understanding of the Japanese spiritual culture.

(And no matter how China is large in the size, its economic success is no more a mystery any more as Japan has already broken the psychological barrier of European races.

Besides, China today is still based on European-born Marxism; and India fully experienced British colonization over centuries to absorb a European way of modernity.

In short, Japan is in the vanguard, and China and India have enjoyed the benefit of Japan’s success in the modern era without doubt.)



SECTION III: Spiritual Culture of African Americans

Mr. Barack Obama is very exceptional, since his mother was a European American. He can identify himself as an offspring of some European family. All the history and culture or religion of Europe can be directly an underlying capability for his activities.

But, what about other African Americans? Can they think that their ancestors were part of the European civilization? Can they think that they are authentic successors of the European civilization? Can they discuss any historical and cultural things and incidents as if they had been what their ancestors enjoyed in Europe some hundreds years ago?

The true psychological barrier for African Americans to be a top leader in the American society lies here.

Can a true African-American U.S. President say, “As our ancestors accepted the teaching of Martin Luther and John Calvin, we have to review the work of Max Weber who is one of our ancestors”?

So, it is a grave situation for both pure European Americans and true African Americans.

The money-oriented post-modern U.S. society might find no value in European traditions including Puritanism, any more. Yet, rich Chinese Americans, Indian Americans, and African Americans will still find disadvantage in every scene in their competition with European Americans who will resort to any little advantage they have, such as being a direct offspring of the European civilization.

Issues of African Americans, including their spiritual culture to function as an underlying capability, must be solved through further evolution of Christianity, specifically Puritanism.

That is why I am telling you that what African Americans need is not a political revolution but a religious revolution, since the religious revolution will also influence European Americans so as to change their view on African Americans.

It is so, since it is the religious　revolution or the new Reformation but not the White House or the Congress that offers more powerful underlying capability and capacity for African Americans.

I once wrote that you would be very busy in the summer of 2008.

Indeed, the G8 meeting was held in Japan; the Summer Olympic Games were held in Beijing; U.S. Vice-Presidential candidates were nominated; and the Japanese Prime Minister announced his intention to resign.

And, have you seen any miracle in these incidents?

But, just see! A year ago, many TV critics and some conservative politicians in Japan were attacking the then Defense Minister Ms. Yuriko Koike of the Abe Cabinet. They severely let her down, stupidly saying, “Minister Koike is a fool to behave like a boss to undersecretary Moriya who has a strong tie with senior politicians and defense contractors.”

As Mr. Moriya was arrested later on suspicion of bribery, those TV critics and conservative politicians were somehow silenced, while Ms. Koike tried to rehabilitate her honor by writing a humble memoir.

And now, some media in Japan are stupidly piquing the general public by suggesting that Ms. Koike is going to run ambitiously for an election to choose the new head of LDP who is promised to be elected as Japan’s new Prime Minister.

Of course, there is no chance for Ms. Yuriko Koike to win the presidential election in the Liberal Democratic Party. But, her entry is expected to boost the public support for LDP, though the winner must be Mr. Taro Aso. However, with the two super stars, LDP might have a bigger chance to win the general election in the near future.

Anyway, a true miracle seems to be happening around Ms. Yuriko Koike, the former Defense Minister of Japan, whether she is a viewer of EEE Reporter or not.

Of course, a true miracle can be also happening around you, if you are one of pious viewers of EEE Reporter.

As for me, the God told me to leave those stupid guys and go to the holy summer field on August 31, 2008, as you see, to meet something.

As some stupid guys in the Japanese political community claimed that Tokyo metropolitan assembly election scheduled next summer was more important than the national general election, Prime Minister Mr. Yasuo Fukuda decided to wash his hands of this impolitic political situations in Japan.

But a difference and a disparity between Armageddon and the new Reformation are more critical in testing politicians.



SECTION I: SHOCK RESIGNATION OF JAPAN'S PM

Japan’s Prime Minister Mr. Yasuo Fukuda made it public that he will resign from the premiership as soon as a new premier is elected, though it is expected to take two weeks or so for the major ruling party LDP to elect the new head, namely the candidate for the next prime minister to be voted for in the Japanese parliament called the Diet.

So, the new prime minister who will succeed Mr. Yasuo Fukuda will be inaugurated in the third or fourth week of this month, September.

It is a big surprise for experts as well as the general public of Japan that Mr. Yasuo Fukuda has made such a decision at this point.

I thought that he would not decide when to resign at least until after the U.S. Presidential Elections is over this November.

Anyway, I hope that possible next Prime Minister of Japan, namely Mr. Taro Aso, the incumbent LDP Secretary-General, will concentrate on governmental administration and policy implementations as long as possible without easily resorting to the general election, though the Japanese media seem to find a big business chance in early election.

The reason for his decision to resign is a low job rating or an approval rate between 20% and 30% that has been lingering for almost half a year since Prime Minister Mr. Yasuo Fukuda decided not to accept the request from the opposition Democratic Party of Japan to abolish a gasoline tax.



SECTION II: NORTH AND SOUTH OF THE ALPS

Even if you are a European American, you may not mind if your ancestors lived in the south or the north of the Alps, since a majority of voters living in New York and California are going to vote for a Democratic Presidential candidate, no matter who he or she is.

However, it is a little surprise to see that a very intellectual person, such as Max Weber, making great academic contribution earlier in the 20th century did not realize the stark difference in culture and traditions of the north and the south of the Alps until he travelled and studied Italy and other Mediterranean regions.

Or, the difference and distinction between the two Europes must be of a kind only pundits like Max Weber could find and realize.

(Yet, from the British point of view, there might be three Europes: Britain, the north and the south of the Alps.)

The so-called today’s global standards are, of course, Anglo-Saxon-natured rather than ancient-Roman-Empire-natured.

What Max Weber found as unique features of the culture in the north of the Alps might be represented by the Anglo-Saxon culture.

Without such a strong core as exemplified by the Anglo-Saxons among ancient Germanic tribes, the cultural mode and the religious tendency of the Roman Empire must have more prevailed than what we see today in France and, say, Ireland without mentioning Spain and Italy.

Then, there would have been no Martin Luther and John Calvin, so successfully.


SECTION III: The Puritan Roman Empire

In my view, this Anglo-Saxon culture might have been destroyed by the Roman Empire, if the Empire had succeeded in sustaining itself much longer in the history or in thoroughly defeating the then small groups of the Anglo Saxon tribe.

One opposite example is Celtic tribes. Once Celtic people had been a majority in the north of the Alps; but through long wars against the Romans they lost the potential for surviving as a major force in the north of the Alps while being driven to the barren corners of Scotland, Wales, and Ireland with some remnants in the French Plain.

The United States is mostly discussed on the analogy of the Roman Empire due to its overwhelming military, economic, and technological dominance over the world. But, its cultural roots might have been destroyed by the Roman Empire, since the home land of the Anglo-Saxons was not far from the Rhine.

On the contrary, as the Romans had swept the Celtic forces in England, the Anglo-Saxons could immigrate without significant obstacles into the great island to survive in difficult ages after the fall of the Roman Empire.

If the Roman Empire and its cultural successor in the north of the Alps France are pure Catholics, the Anglo-Saxons on the Great Britain Island are modified Catholics and the Anglo-Saxons on the North American Continent are no more Catholics, very reasonably.

Put shortly, the United States can be characterized as the Puritan Roman Empire which has been only made possible through the geographical and religious shifts of the Anglo-Saxons in the history. Indeed such shifts look like a kind of miracles looking back from today, since there were many North European tribes more powerful than the Anglo-Saxons who were then a very minor one, though they loved informality, pragmatism, and songs.

Puritanism did work more strongly and decisively in the United States than in Europe.

It is not simply vast lands, rich natural resources, European cultural traditions, and manpower consisting of every race in the world that has made the United States the superpower even Japan could not overwhelm ultimately and eventually.

It is the Anglo-Saxon type of Puritanism-based Roman Empire.

Conversely, you should not understand and judge things and incidents in Japan simply from a view point based on the Anglo-Saxon global standards.

As the origin of the Anglo-Saxon global standards have a long history as I stated above, the influence of traditional culture of Japan on the contemporary society, including the current political circles, is deeply rooted in the Japanese history.

Though the Japanese media of today highly influenced and contaminated by American commercialism might blame or praise any Japanese politician for any act so simply and ignobly, the truth of the act might transcend the meaning conceived by the media people in a superficial context.

Conversely, if the era of the United States as the Puritan Roman Empire is yet to pass, every significant thing and incident happening in the United States must be analyzed and construed in the above stated context.

That is why I am telling you that if you cannot at least perceive and understand a crucial difference or disparity in any significant thing and incident as much as U.S. President Mr. George W. Bush can, if not as Max Weber could, you had better not try to run for any public office or congress.

As for former Japanese Prime Minister Mr. Shinzo Abe and incumbent Prime Minister Mr. Yasuo Fukuda, I suppose they can do as much as.

And I think that Armageddon and the new Reformation are more different than Max Weber could conceive, if the both can happen finally in the future.

It is a sheer waste if you give a pearl to a pig.

Though Jesus Christ did not directly order to avoid wasteful use of goods, materials, and energy, his warning against rich people and people of position implies the same thing.

Or, have you ever seen rich people and people of position who avoid any wasteful use of goods, materials, and energy?

In Japan, it is said that the founder of Sony and his widow have had the motto “Mottianai” meaning “it is a sinful waste to arrogantly handle goods, materials, and energy without due respect to the Heaven, a god, or the God.”


SECTION I: “Mottainai” – The Late Mr. Morita’s Claim

Mr. and Mrs. Morita got shocked when they saw the remnants of beefsteak having been served and running off the edge of the plate were simply thrown away as garbage in a restaurant where they dined; a fabulous car too large to carry only one man was on every road in multitudes; and air-conditioning in houses and offices was too cool or cold in the summer and too warm or hot in the winter. It was so because it was early 1960’s that the couple first lived in the U.S.

So, in November 1973, the late Mr. Akio Morita, the founder of Sony Corporation, delivered a speech in a certain formal meeting in New York to audience highly concerned with an Israeli-Arab war and the subsequent oil crisis, stressing that American people must become humble just like the Japanese people who always expressed thanks to the Heaven, gods, and the God by avoiding wasteful use of goods, materials, and energy while respecting the nature and hard working.

His speech made the front page of The New York Times the next morning, since the late Mr. Morita used a Japanese expression, “Mottainai,” as a symbol of the Japanese philosophy to avoid wasteful use of goods, materials, and energy.

He used the same word “Mottainai” in his book “Made in Japan” released in October, 1986.

In the book, he wrote that though there existed various words corresponding to “Mottainai” in Europe and Asia, such as being “frugal of money and resources,” the Japanese word “Mottainai” includes a religious concept and context. The Japanese people have a tradition to regard a wasteful use of goods, materials, and energy as a sin from a religious point of view.

And, in 2005, an African lady after winning the Nobel Peace Prize delivered a speech in the headquarters of the United Nations, New York, adopting the Japanese word “Mottainai” to emphasize her philosophy applied to her environmental conservation activities.

Quickly responding, when she heard of this news in 2005, the widow of the late Mr. Morita sent a copy of the address her husband had made in 1973 to the then Japanese Prime Minister Mr. Jyunichiro Koizumi and the then Japanese Minister for the Environment Ms. Yuriko Koike.

Of course, it is unusual even in Japan that a widow of a businessman, no matter how influential he was even as a friend of the Rockefeller clan, sends a copy of a speech her late husband made 30 years ago to the Japanese Prime Minister and a related Minister to request them to respect the claim he made in New York based on his conscience as an honorable Japanese.

SECTION II: Japan’s Lost Decades and U.S. Subprime Loan Crisis

Everybody working in the financial sector and political circles in the world knows that Japan suffered lost decades from early 1990’s to early 2000’s.

But, now every citizen in the world knows that the U.S. is suffering the second year of the debacle of the subprime loan business scheme whose total loss is expected to reach half a trillion dollars or one trillion dollars including lost credit capability.

Apart from the speculation about whether the influence of the subprime loan crisis will continue to work on the U.S. and the global economy for a decade, there is a big difference in the two major economic slumps.

Japan’s lost decades did not give negative impacts on other countries. Rather the lost decades were so prolonged, because Japanese businesses opted for developing the Chinese market and investing in Chinese industries for cheap labor costs, resulting in the economic boom in China and Asia.

But, the U.S. subprime loan crisis is globally causing a negative effect on financial institutes. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac never invested in the Chinese market to foster it; instead, they have been supported by funds provided by Japan, China, and other global stakeholders.

SECTION III: Max Weber and Japanese Buddhism

When Japan got bogged down in the decade-long recession in 1990’s, it is said that the then U.S. President Mr. Bill Clinton was highly rejoiced while examining an economic report on Japan with the then FRB chairman Mr. Alan Greenspan.

Today, it is reported that some arrogant Wall Street workers are boasting that they are smart enough to place the financial burdens related to the subprime loan crisis widely on foreign financial institutes.

They are shamelessly laughing at Japan, since Japan did not place its financial burdens related to the lost decades widely on foreign financial institutes.

They are arrogantly saying that Japanese are racially inferior so that it cannot take a smart strategy to place its financial burdens on financial institutes in the U.S., the EU, China, and so on.

What is worse, their claim that the Japanese financial sector is wrong, inferior, and foolish in terms of financial practices has had a decisive influence on some Japanese economists who have mistakenly come to think that the Japanese financial sector is committing a sin of some sort, though not so well understood, since notable U.S. economists of the Nobel Prize class are joining the perverted view on Japan.

If Mr. Clinton and Mr. Greenspan said in person that the American financial practices were right, correct, and responsible and Japanese ones were sinful, any Japanese economist would agree with them so blindly.

But, Max Weber was surprised through his study to find that the Japanese society in the early 13th century had already reached the same level of professional ethics along with evolution of the Japanese Buddhism as that of the Western society based on the Protestant ethics.

Max Weber found another Lutheran domain in Japan 200 years prior to the work of Martin Luther.

Now, it is crystal clear that the origin of the subprime loan crisis is the perverted development and evolution of the Lutheran ethics and the Calvinism in Wall Street and Washington D.C.

That is why I recommend some influential Japanese economists to learn Max Weber who clearly denies the spirit of Wall Street and FRB, since they all look like "Specialists without Spirits."

When the late Mr. Morita was alive and active in Japan and the U.S. promoting Sony’s brand and products between 1960’s and 1980’s, he must have never dreamed that a decade later a U.S. President, an FRB chairman, and workers in Wall Street would all start to show half-naked hate, antagonism, and contempt on the Japanese financial sector while selling subprime loan-contaminated financial goods in the global money market.

(The major reason is of course that non-Christian and non-European Japan became the second largest economy in the world in 1980’s.)

But, if any Japanese economist is treated well by the CEO of Sony, so that he is introduced to an ex-FRB chairman, the Rockefeller clan, and notable pundits of the Mr. Kissinger class, the Japanese economist would blindly accept the perverted view on financial ethics being concocted and cooked up by avaricious and arrogant U.S. economists and financial sector workers.

So, economists in Japan, China, India, and Asia must realize that their American friends are not a kind of Max Weber but the Mafia.

That is why I am telling you that the super rich men in the U.S. are simply making mistakes and not taking any self-destructive policy for more profound interests and profits based on some mysterious philosophy which however actually does not exist at all.

All I wish is that Mr. Barack Obama will not join that kind of Mafia in Wall Street, since they lack ability, to your surprise, to understand what Max Weber said, since their arrogance and greedy have made them so blind.
