Chinses Aggressions in the East and South China Seas
A Chinese fleet with an aircraft carrier has moved around Japanese islands in Okinawa Prefecture near the Taiwan island facing the East China Sea and the Pacific Ocean. China says that it is a training. But, Japan sent its jet fighters to monitor and check if the Chinese fleet might invade the Japanese territory.
Then the Chinese aircraft carrier launched jet fighters against the Japanese jet fighters. At the distance of more than 50 km (30 miles), a Chinese jet fighter triggered its radar to lock on a Japanese jet fighter. Then scores of minutes later, another Chinse jet fighter locked on another Japanese jet fighter at the distance of more than 100 km (60 miles). These actions by the Chinese jet fighters are against an international treaty. The Japanese jet fighters were at risk of being hit by Chinese missiles.
So, the Ministry of Defense of Japan announced the fact at a press conference soon after the incident. But, China said that Japanese jet fighters interfered with activities of the Chinese fleet. Anyway, China did not deny the fact of locking on Japanese jet fighters.
Almost at the same time, about 100 of Chinese ships armed and linked with the Chinese navy had a gathering around the territory of the Republic of the Philippines to get into the territory.
So, it is very dangerous to neglect recent Chinese activities around Okinawa, Taiwan, and the Philippines. It is as if a U.S. fleet were practicing exercise in the Taiwan Strait between the Taiwan island and the mainland China.
Japan acknowledges that China has a claim that Taiwan should belong to China, but Japan has never wanted China to invade Taiwan by force. Japan expects that the U.S. will come and help and save Taiwan in the case of Chinese aggression. And, in the case, Japan would help and support U.S. fleets and troops protecting Taiwan, since Japan is an ally of the U.S. But, China took words of Japan's prime minister Sanae Takaichi on this hypothetical case as a proof of Japan's will for intervention with China's sovereign power.
Therefore, the world should observe these cases triggered by China in a calm way. It is more than 80 years ago that Japan made a war with the Republic of China (present Taiwan) but not with People's Republic of China or present China governed by the Chinese Communist Party. And in these 80 years Japan has never used its military force in any international problems. But China has made wars with the Soviet Union, the United Nations and South Korea, Vietnam, etc. in the same period.
China should not forget how much it owes to Japan and the U.S. for its economic success since diplomatic normalization with the U.S. and Japan in 1970s.
