Heroes, Great Powers, and Miracles


Mr. Nelson Mandela was elected as president and took office when he was 75 in 1994 after release from almost 30 years of imprisonment in 1990. However he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize when he was 74 in 1992.

Mr. Barack Obama was elected as president and took office when he was 47 in 2009 after 12 years of lecturing at the law school of the Chicago University. However he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize when he was 47 in 2009.

Of course, there are many people who have seen the glory of the God through the two if not in the two.

To the period from Mr. Mandela to Mr. Obama, one era might be assigned. But, what will come after this Mandela-Obama era?　The Era of More Miracles?



SECTION I: National Prayer Breakfast

A few days ago, lawmaker Mr. Taro Kono of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan flew to Washington D.C. to attend the 58th National Prayer Breakfast where about 3,000 people all over America and the world gathered and prayed.

He was assigned the No. 7 Table among hundreds. At the table beside his sat House Speaker Ms. Nancy Pelosi with whom Mr. Kono talked friendly awhile, since his father was ex-Lower House Speaker of the Japanese Parliament. But the one who overwhelmingly impressed him was Secretary Ms. Hillary Clinton rather than President Mr. Barack Obama.

In February of 1994, the speaker here was Mother Teresa. She gave, as everyone who remembers that occasion will certainly recall, a strong address against abortion. And then she asked to see me. And I thought, "Oh, dear." (Laughter.) And after the breakfast, we went behind that curtain and we sat on folding chairs, and I remember being struck by how small she was and how powerful her hands were, despite her size, and that she was wearing sandals in February in Washington. Finally, the moment came: June, 1995, and the Mother Teresa Home for Infant Children opened. She flew in from Kolkata to attend the opening, and like a happy child, she gripped my arm and led me around, looking at the bassinets and the pretty painted colors on the wall, and just beaming about what this meant for children and their futures.

A few years later, I attended her funeral in Kolkata, where I saw presidents and prime ministers, royalty and street beggars, pay her homage. And after the service, her successor, Sister Nirmala, the leader of the Missionaries of Charity, invited me to come to the Mother House. I was deeply touched. When I arrived, I realized I was one of only a very few outsiders. And I was directed into a whitewashed room where the casket had already arrived. And we stood around with the nuns, with the candles on the walls flickering, and prayed for this extraordinary woman. And then Sister Nirmala asked me to offer a prayer. I felt both inadequate and deeply honored, just as I do today. And in the tradition of prayer breakfast speakers, let me share a few matters that reflect how I came on my own faith journey, and how I think about the responsibilities that President Obama and his Administration and our government face today.

So, I wrote several days ago that it was impressive to see a woman wearing sandals on the cold business street around Tokyo.

Anyway, the combination of Ms. Hillary Clinton and Mother Teresa could overwhelm a future candidate of the prime minister of Japan.

I may overwhelm the future Pope, if the God so wishes.

In addition, if one guest pays 1,000 dollars, the 3,000 audience in total can donate $3 million to Haiti.

Japan and the U.S. as G2 are now going to enter the state of weariness.

The U.S. and China as G2 are now going to enter the time of trial.

From a global point of view, G2 of Japan and China could be more supported by peoples of the world. It is mainly to suppress the occurrence of another War on Terror and another Lehman Shock.

U.S. unemployment rate = Japan's unemployment rate + China's city unemployment rate

If the dollar loses the key currency status, the equation will have to be altered.

Yet, it is still very unlikely that Japanese leaders and Chinese leaders get together to hold a meeting where the U.S. unemployment level is decided.

Finally, China must start to stop its military expansion nobody from Mongolia, South Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, and India welcomes.

Why will not rich people try to save the poor? This is a question economists cannot answer.

If all the rich people in the world start to save the poor by pouring into this great economic project all the wealth they have, all the poor in the world will be saved. Accordingly, you need no economists.

Conversely, economics is based on acceptance of evil of the human mind or the mind of rich people neglecting the poor dying in poverty. If they cannot accept it, they will surely fight against the evil, which means to stop a study of economics that virtually sustains the rich-man centric economic system.

However, this teaching of the God, save the poor by stop oneself from being rich, is really hard to accept. Accordingly, not so many people share the view of EEE Reporter so far. In my feeling, all over the world just 30 or so people seem to take this view seriously. It is so, since it was in Haiti that 200,000 people died by the Act of God...

However, this is not an elite course for another Mr. Obama and another Mr. Mandela only.

WORK OF SPECULATIVE MIND


One thing I had wondered before the historic realization of the first African American president of the U.S. is how those who believed the 9/11 conspiracy theory would react in the era of President Mr. Barack Obama.

Nobody influential seems to have asked President Mr. Obama to review the 9/11 conspiracy theory with a focus on hidden involvement of the Bush Administration in the large-scale plot.

Logically, to those who still believe the 9/11 conspiracy theory, President Mr. Obama is a member of those who are truly responsible for the 9/11 Terror. Conversely, nobody now would join those who still blame the Bush Administration for their conspiracy on the 9/11 Terror.

But, I suspect that there are some who were associated with Wall Street or the WTC and knew the terror beforehand, since they were so close to those involved in the plot if so remotely.

This is a simple feeling of my own. And those who knew the 9/11 terror beforehand in New York might be also involved in the 2008 Lehman Shock or the subprime loan scandal.

However, I do not think that Prime Minister Mr. Yukio Hatoyam of Japan secretly exercised his administrative power to save DPJ Secretary General Mr. Ichiro Ozawa from possible arrest and also to force sumo wrestling grand champion Asa-Shoryu to retire.

The point at issue is an influence of such conspiracy theories or actual incidents on the peoples. Who will they choose in future after the era of President Mr. Obama and Prime Minister Mr. Hatoyama?

The land prices of Japan soared five times higher from 1983 taking nine years before the lost decade, and then plummeted down to one tenth of the peak toward 2005 taking 13 years during the lost decade.

(It is during the Koizumi Administration that the land price indexes truly hit the bottom in Japan.)

Mountains, hills, and forests account for almost 70% of the Japanese national land which is almost equal to the size of the California state.

Accordingly, 120 million people mostly live in an area of 30% of California's. All the Japanese people competing with 300 million Americans and 1.2 billion Chinese mostly live and work just in an area of 30% of California's, which itself is a kind of miracle.

There was a myth of the land price in Japan: the land price never falls. But, it did so drastically as you see in the above figure.

To understand significance of this phenomenon, you must understand the nature, culture, traditions, and reality of the Japanese society, since business in Japan is also deeply linked with people's paradigm on the land as a resource of wealth.

It is also linked with the recent arguments about the global warming and nature conservation.

The study on the lost decade of Japan must not be solely based on financial matters.

As for Wall Street and the City, religious backgrounds also tell very truth of their globalized financial swindles, which I will discuss later.

There are about 30,000 people in Japan nowadays who die alone, while living alone, and whose dead bodies are discovered days, weeks, and months later.

In older days, people mostly died in their house surrounded by their family members.

Without any kind of deeply rooted religion, the Japanese society must have been disrupted through the extreme material success in its indescribable competition with Europe and America. Followers China and India must learn some lessons from Japan.

Yet, living under somebody who has power of life or death of you is not a comfortable life. In that case, indeed, you need revolution or religion.

i) Three years ago, a Japanese traveler to America came back to Japan. iv) At the speed of 100 Km per hour, it is easy to measure a 10% change in the speed to control the brake by a computer chip, since it just has to perform 10 Km (6 miles) per hour control. But, at the speed of 20 Km per hour, it needs 2 Km (1.2 miles) per hour control. To run and control your car exactly at 2 Km per hour is not easy for you and a computer chip mounted inside Prius. At this speed (change) level, expected very smooth, automatic switching from hydraulic braking to regenerating braking, a unique feature for Prius, looks like failing once in 100,000 times, especially on a slippery road.

My recommendation to Toyota is to enter the agriculture market. They should buy up agriculture lands abandoned in local regions of Japan due to too much industrialization. Such cultivation-abandoned areas account for 10% of all the farming lands in Japan. Toyota executives should start to learn respect for humanity on the ground under the sun.

Mitsubishi Motor Corporation has realized a surplus for the first time in the past five quarters. The Japanese car maker was once rebuked for failure to announce its recalls. But now, owing to robust sales in China and Thailand, it came back to a track.

Honda Motor Co., Ltd. is to report a $3 billion surplus at the end of March 2010, since it has succeeded in $5.5 billion cost cuts. In addition, owing to robust sales in Thailand and India, it came back to a track.

However, both the Japanese car manufacturers look like feeling no pains in reducing payrolls.

They had better start to learn respect for humanity on the ground under the sun.


SECTION III: Historically Equal

For the Japanese people, equality of mankind literally means that there is no difference in the mind and heat among mankind.

But, historically, for Europeans the equality of mankind means that there is no difference in the mind and heart between Catholics and Protestants.

And, historically, for European Americans the equality of mankind means that there is no difference in the mind and heart between Catholics, Protestants, and Judaists.

It was made possible, since one tribe of Christian Europeans did not mind or doubt Judaism so much as others. And, they became the mainstream in America, by chance, later. The unique tribe is called the Anglo-Saxons.

As a consequence, Judaists have become the most beneficiary of the principle of equality of mankind, especially in the United States.

Accordingly, Judaists have had three options since the British dominance in the New Continent of North America: the possible return to Jerusalem; the continued status of the diaspora; and the enjoyment of living in America.

It is very symbolical, indeed, that around 1500 both Columbus and Luther emerged while Spain started to completely expel Judaists, though Christopher Columbus was most probably a Judaist pretending to be Christian under the name Christopher.

WEIGHTING FACTOR OF TRUTH


If you have just 10% more muscle strength effectively activated than others, you can be even a grand "sumo" wrestling champion in Japan.

Even in June 2009, it was reported that there are 1.5 million wealthy people in Japan, while 2.8 million in Asia.

This is another factor for Japan's difficult economic situations in addition to the well-known factor of cheap-labor/cheap-goods China.

In the past, all the poor Japanese and most of rich Japanese had worked hard along with a shared paradigm of material success. But, during 1990's, the rich and the poor came to have different paradigms: the rich came to have a sinful and selfish view on economy and society, while the poor still continued to trust the old paradigm of prosperity of society as a whole, since everybody belongs to the same Japanese race sharing the the same cultural traditions.

The rich Japanese quickly understood the change in global market as symbolized by China's economic growth and technological advancement as symbolized by the so-called high-tech financial infrastructure on Wall Street.

Since 1990, smart and rich Japanese left the poor Japanese, realizing the potential of China and Wall Street. Smart and rich Japanese decided to continue to be richer in a tie up with Chinese businesses and Wall Street companies, thus neglecting poor and honest Japanese.

This is another facet of the truth of Japan's Lost Decade.

However, it had also happened in America, when American rich men forsaken honest American workers in the manufacturing sector to boost the financial sector and the entertainment sector.

China is from the beginning a society with less love to neighbors.

The challenge Japan must address now is to stop this trend and save the poor Japanese citizens from the rich who are leveraging China and Wall Street while neglecting the poor Japanese.

In this context, the regime change must have happened (suppressing a too-pro American party); irresponsible politicians must have been taught a lesson (suppressing too-pro-Chinese politicians); and highly biased companies must have been corrected (suppressing Toyota?), which is actually going on around Japan today.

If this enterprise bears fruit, the world will follow suit.

No hard-working and law-abiding Asians and Americans have to worry about Japan.


SECTION II: Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln (1809 - 1865) became a hero as he won the Civil War.

Generals of the Union were incompetent at battles against Confederate troops.

So, Lincoln took up directly command authority along with newly appointed commander Ulysses S. Grant, though he had never learnt the art of war. Lincoln got detailed information at battle fields through newly invented technology telegraph. He also issued detailed orders and instructions back to generals at the front by wire.

It is just like an American President using every telecommunications technology to study situations at the front of Afghanistan in real time and issue every detailed order to troops in Afghanistan to pursue AlQaeda and Mr. Osama bin Laden and capture them all, which however did not happen in the last months of 2001.

Lincoln's experiences as a lawyer and a politician made him the most suitable commander in 1860's very luckily, though it is said that he sometimes made a very cool decision no professional generals would dare to make to certain situations.

Is it that Lincoln was not a respectable hero but a mania for war sending bloody instructions from a telegraph room he so frequently visited, or that the Civil War was so exceptionally cruel as turning a respectable man like Lincoln to a kind of a mania for war?

In summary, the combination of Lincoln and telegraph eventually decided the case in 1865.

SECTION I: DEMAND AND SUPPLY GAP

How shameless are those who gathered at Davos this year, too!

Mr. Lawrence Summers suggested: "One in five men in the US between 25 and 54 is not working. Even assuming a reasonable recovery, that might only rise to one in seven. In the 1950s, 95% of men had work."

IMF Top Mr. Dominique Strauss-Kahn meant: "It is disappointing to see the lack of discussion by the US with the rest of the world about President Barack Obama's reforms."

Davos does not see the basic situations of demand and supply in the world, production and work force, and power of innovation. Davos tries to find a chance for making big money by manipulating big money.

It is rooted in traditions of Judaists. Judaists did not carry out the Industrial Revolution. Some rich Judaists did not like to work in agriculture fields and manufacturing plants with blood, sweat, and tears if there was any big excuse.

(It is true that there is a well-known, historical context in Christian Europe forced on Judaists as they were segregated into a special zone of a town. Having said so, some rich Judaists still just wanted to make big money by providing financial services for industrialists even after the door to the New World opened up for them where they could have restarted their history as farmers and factory workers of whatever industry which had been interrupted by the Roman conquest of Israel. Instead, they became middle-class citizens living in cities of Germany so dangerously.)

So, Davos is not designed to promote industries and improve living conditions of workers in agricultural lands and factories, especially, of the Christian and Islamic worlds.

However, politicians have to get support from those working in agricultural fields and factories more than from financial sector workers. Accordingly, they can understand the true meaning of the demand and supply gap, the most grave agenda for the economy of the 21st century.

This issue cannot be solved with the Davos mentality which makes so many participants foolish and blind to reality under the financing talks. Davos can create the sinful city Dubai but not another China or India or their industrial sectors.

If the global economy is to be saved, it must leave the Judaist paradigm, as symbolized in Davos, but enter a new Puritan paradigm, in a sense, where the true meaning of the demand and supply gap can be correctly understood.

Indeed, in 1950's there was no demand and supply gap in America, and even unregulated and uncoordinated financial service did not harm economy.

As emission of CO2 is regarded as proportional to an amount of conventional energy consumed, Japan does not need to make any efforts to reduce CO2 emission till America, China, India, and other OECD countries really start to use less energy per GDP to take rank with Japan.

Rather, other countries should purchase energy efficient technologies from Japan, till they catch up with Japan.

In my view, it is time to seriously think about separation of annual government revenue and annual expenditures.

Tax should be collected only to control money flow in society.

Public projects and any other services a government must provide should be provided based on other paradigm than economy. They must not be influenced by annual tax revenues.

A government does not necessarily have to collect money tax.

A government has to however collect foods and goods and request services from the people.

A market does not necessarily need a government that regulates it.

A market is however subject to a government if the government is established.

A government and a market historically and in theory develop and grow independently.

Nonetheless a government has to make all the people obedient, happy, or rich.

Yet, a market makes surely some people happy and rich but also surely others unhappy and poor.

But, many economists do not understand this difference between a government and a market while arguing how to boost economy, expand employment, and ensure financial well-being.

Anyway, even in the American democracy, if 51% of voters get rich and happy, a market never minds 49% unhappy and poor voters.

(If poor people who are brainwashed so as not to vote for any election are counted, this ratio could be, for example, 30% vs. 70%.)

But, the American government should not simply pretend to be trying to solve the problem, while it does not believe it should try anything, which is a common behavior for a government that blindly authorizes a market economy.

Unemployment statistics the Chinese Government publishes cover only Chinese laborers in cities.

There are 225 million domestic-migrant workers from local villages in China; but they are precluded from the counting of the unemployed if they lose jobs in cities.

The labor force newly added to the Chinese labor market last year was 24 million. To absorb this number of young people, China needs an economic growth of 10% each year.

Conversely, a growth rate of 5% means 10 million possible insurgents existent in China.

This is a scale effect. It is not 5% but 10 million that destroys a prevailing economic system together with a political system.

So, let China keep 10%, since China is now the largest destination of export from Japan.

It is well known that ancient Mesopotamian people were good at calculation. Especially a large city was built in Ur in 2700 B.C. Crop yields in Mesopotamia in 2400 B.C. reached an average of 2500 liters per hectare which is similar to those found in today's North America.

However, due to salt damage, crop yields in Mesopotamia in 2100 B.C. dropped to 40% of its highest record. Accordingly, in 2000 B.C., the Sumerian Civilization collapsed and Abraham left Ur.

In summary, an unfavorable climate change gave impetus for further development of human society and culture. People met a crisis and faced a challenge to overcome it (until 4000 years ago).

What destroyed one great system of agriculture-based civilization is however human-induced (failed irrigation) salt damage on agriculture fields.

Nonetheless, from this failure, one man named Abraham emerged in history to be the origin of the history that has continued to date.

Yet, without emergence of the Son of God at the middle point of the history, namely 2000 years ago, the legacy of Abraham must have been lost with hope of establishment of future civilization, mostly the European/American/Islamic Civilization.

However, a gap in the mind set between Americans in various sectors seems to be overwhelmingly widened since 1990's.

Yet, as basically work is for producing foods or goods or providing care, the American society seems to be moving to the opposite direction to Utopia.

But, here I will point to one factor: if America is completely isolated from the outer world by closing the door for any reasons, the number of wealthy Americans will shrink by 70% or two thirds at least.

They all have the same color of the skin and use the same language. For most of the Japanese, being themselves means being a Japanese.

America consists of various types of races with European Americans as the mainstream. Yet, everybody admits the need for respecting American Dream, regardless of religion one adheres to, which separates immigrants from their ancestors' countries.

Chinese consists of various types of Asian races with Han people as the mainstream. Yet, everybody admits the need for respecting the Chinese Communist Party, regardless of wealth one has, which separates the Chinese from Japan and America.

But, of course, there are various types of Japanese, since ancestors of today's Japanese consisted of various (ancient) Asian races.

For example, Prime Minister of Japan Mr. Yukio Hatoyama is not a typical Japanese not only in terms of his personal assets and family lines.

Amerigo Vespucci's exploration in America had an influence on the book, "Utopia," Englishman Thomas More (1478 – 1535) wrote.

Accordingly, around 1500, we have three symbolic figures: Columbus, Martin Luther, and Thomas More, the author of Utopia.

They represent three major religious movements toward future:

Columbus just looks like a plain Christian. But, it does not preclude a possibility that he was pretending to be a Christian while being a Judaist. Even after his adventure, he must have proven that he was a Christian. - There is evidence that Columbus spoke Spanish while still living in Italy, an unusual situation unless his family had originated in Spain. Spanish-speaking Jewish refugees from the Inquisition were numerous in the Genoa area.

- The form "Colón" which Columbus adopted as the Spanish equivalent of his last name was not the expected form (which would have been"Colom" or "Colombo"). It was however a common Jewish variation on the name.

- Columbus was known to frequent the company of Jews and former Jews, among whom were some noted astronomers and navigators, as well as his official translator. Marranos (another term for Jews forced to convert) figured prominently among Columbus's backers and crew. Throughout his life he demonstrated a keen knowledge of the Bible and the geography of the Holy Land.

- Columbus began the official report of his first voyage to America, addressed to Ferdinand and Isabella, with the following words: "And thus, having expelled all the Jews from all your kingdoms and dominions, in the month of January, Your Highnesses commanded me that...I should go to the said parts of India." This is a strange fact to mention in this context, and it is not even correct: The order of expulsion was not signed until March 31st.

- The fact that the expulsion of Spanish Jewry and Columbus' voyage coincided is telling. Even when Columbus was scheduled to set sail on August 3rd, he insisted that his entire crew be ready on board a full day earlier. August 2nd 1492 was the day that had been ordained for the last Jews of Spain to depart the country. Hundreds of thousands of Jews were departed from Spain on that dark day.

- When this coincidence of dates was first noted by the Spanish biographer S. de Madariaga, the English Jewish historian Cecil Roth also commented on the "coincidence" August 2nd 1492 coinciding with Tisha B'av, the Jewish fast of mourning. It was as if Columbus had arranged to remain on board ship for that ill-omened day, and to depart only afterwards.

- Columbus discussed particular dates and phrases unique to Hebrew people. When writing about the fall of Jerusalem, he said "the destruction of the second house," referring to the Temple.

Suddenly, for me, a whole new light was shed on the discovery of America and some of our current politics. And that light is even more amazing when I read The Book of Prophecies by Christopher Columbus.

Columbus truly believed he was on a mission from God. Over and over in his written logs he dedicated his voyage to the Lord Jesus Christ.

The book is full of numerous references to Muslim domination and the conflict between Muslims and Christians and Jews - comments that would be extremely politically sensitive in today's climate, but seem eerily prophetic. Columbus held the same passion and regard for Jerusalem and God's people as many Christians do today.

Indeed, Columbus must have always acted like a Christian or a converted Christian, though his ancestors included Judaists. Otherwise, the Spanish Royal court would not allow him to sail for adventure based on their authority.

Truly, Columbus read a certain famous book written by Venetian Marco Polo (1254-1324) who had travelled by road east as far as China. Marco Polo mentioned Japan as a nation of gold, which is believed to have encouraged Columbus to venture into exploration into Asia from the west, since he could get gold easily in Japan as whatever resources for his final adventure to Jerusalem.

Including this episode, Christopher Columbus is truly a God's chosen man who pursued a solution for his belief.

After 500 years plus some, it must be time to revive his spirit, since he was born in 1451.

Forgotten Heroes


There are many people in this world who live like a hero but are forgotten for some reason or other.

Christopher Columbus could have been one of them without records and reports by himself and others of the era.

Yet, there must have been many such heroes on Americas, including present-day Haiti, even before Columbus reached there. Where have those indigenous Americans gone?


SECTION I: Tanaka-Takeshita-Ozawa Legacy

Japan's political sector is not a strongly individual-initiative oriented society like in the U.S. where a candidate's personality and ability weigh much.

Japan's political sector is not a strongly political-party centric society like in the U.K. where a manifesto of a party matters.

It is neither non-democratic one-party dictatorship oriented society like in China where nothing but loyalty to the Communist Party is a measure.

Japanese voters mostly first select a party and then check its candidate. If he/she is not satisfied at all with a candidate of a party of his/her choice, a voter might not go for voting or rather vote for a more reasonable candidate of other party.

Yet, voters in big cities have usually no personal obligation to vote for a specific candidate their relatives have supported, their local leaders have supported, or their close business associates have supported down the ages.

Nonaffliated voters in big cities of Japan need information. The media and political critics have a big market. But, media companies in Japan are roughly divided into a conservative camp and a liberal one. Being conservative means mostly pro-LDP which is however very pro-American. Being liberal means nowadays pro-DPJ which now holds power with Prime Minister Mr. Yukio Hatoyama at its top.

Yet, this liberalism of DPJ is rooted in one old faction of the LDP: the Tanaka faction where P.M. Mr. Hatoyama and DPJ Secretary-General Mr. Ichiro Ozawa once belonged.

LDP Lawmaker Kakuei Tanaka, a remarkable start-up from nowhere after WWII, formed his own faction in 1972 to be soon elected as prime minister. He visited China to restore diplomatic relations between the two countries in the year, despite his poor tie-up with America. Nonetheless, various money scandals, including the Lockheed payoff scandal, forced Tanaka to step down from premiership in just two years since he had assumed P.M. office with great support from the Media and voters as a kind of revolutionary leader.

Mr. Ichiro Ozawa, presently the Secretary-General of the DPJ, was a young promising member of the Tanaka's faction. Mr. Ozawa married a daughter of Tanaka's supporter who ran a construction company in Tanaka's home prefecture as Kakuei Tanaka introduced her to him. Mr. Ozawa even today claims that Kakuei Tanaka is innocent in the Lockheed bribery case.

As if betraying Tanaka suffering a judicial trial, LDP lawmaker Noboru Takeshita formed his own faction in 1987, leaving the Tanaka's faction to be soon elected as prime minister. However, in 1988 the Recruit scandal was exposed involving many influential LDP politicians including P.M. Takeshita himself. This money scandal forced Takeshita to step down from premiership.

Mr. Ichiro Ozawa, presently the Secretary-General of the DPJ, became one of major members of the Takeshita's faction. Though he was a kind of relative to Takeshita accompanying him on some doubtful occasions with Takeshita's senior and strong friend Shin Kanamaru, Mr. Ozawa could avoid being involved in various money scandals and legal prosecutions where Takeshita and Kanamaru were alleged to have received illegal money.

Having failed in succeeding Takeshita and Kanamaru as faction leader, then LDP lawmaker Mr. Ichiro Ozawa, presently the Secretary-General of the DPJ, formed his own political party in 1993, leaving the Takeshita's faction and the LDP. His new party called Shinseito succeeded in launching the coalition Cabinet, thus taking over power from the LDP. Mr. Ozawa did not become prime minister, but kept a strong influence on then new Prime Minister Mr. Morihiro Hosokawa.

Yet, Mr. Ichiro Ozawa, presently the Secretary-General of the DPJ, could not prevent a money scandal from forcing Mr. Hosokawa to step down and thus crashing the coalition Cabinet in 1994. Eventually, Mr. Ozawa was driven into political wilderness, which was about to continue for 15 years except some period when he tied up with then Prime Minister Keizo Obuchi of the LDP who tragically fell and died of disease in 2000 after a harsh meeting with Mr. Ozawa.

And now, Mr. Ichiro Ozawa, a lawmaker since 1969, is said to have de-facto authority over P.M. Mr. Hatoyama, since the DPJ won a majority of the Lower House in the general election conducted in the summer of 2009. There seems to be no one able to force him to concede in whatever agenda for democracy of Japan, which is neither a Japanese, an American, nor a British way.

When Mr. Ichiro Ozawa left the LDP in 1993, notable critic Mr. Takashi Tachibana who had once revealed Kakuei Tanaka's doubtful money sources to force Tanaka to resign wrote that Mr. Ichiro Ozawa's political stance was laughable, since Mr. Ozawa lacked a true sense of justice. Former Lower House Speaker and former LDP president Mr. Yohei Kono recently took out this Mr. Tachibana's writing to show it to his son, lawmaker Mr. Taro Kono who ran for LDP presidency last year, though failed, to improve LDP's status.

SECTION II: Columbus and Haiti Earthquake

Around 1500, Judaists living on the Mediterranean were good at various technology-related arts including sea navigation.

Columbus really could be one of them who disguised himself as a sailor coming from Genoa, a port city he must have well known, while Judaists were being severely suppressed or persecuted by Christians at that time. In addition, Columbus did not use Italian at least in his writing, though merchants of Genoa contributed much money to his voyage.

So, it is very symbolic that Columbus tried to sail westward while so many Judaists were sailing eastward to flee Spain. Judaists as a whole had to find a new haven. And, their chance could be multiplied by the Columbus' adventure. It is also why Columbus requested the Spanish monarch to give him vast power over the newly discovered land if so close to Asia or Jerusalem, so that most probably he could allow many other Judaists to settle down there without fear of persecution by a Christian governor or monarch.

In this context, Haiti or Hispaniola Island could have been another Israel of 500 years ago.

However, the fact is that for some mysterious reasons Columbus was alienated by the Spanish elite after his fourth and last voyage. Subsequently and strangely, this greatest hero of adventure of the era was gradually forgotten. As he was so much forgotten that the New Continent Columbus had discovered was named America after Amerigo Vespucci, one of other adventurers into the New Continent.

After Columbus was virtually forced to retire from society, he started to live like a second-class prophet, writing a book of prophecy in which he claimed that the prophecy of Isaiah was perfectly fulfilled by his discovery of the New Continent or the new portion of Asia as he belived till the end of his life.

However, the mainstream theory is that Columbus was a Christian strongly associated with Franciscans the queen of Spain at the time also intimately affiliated with.

Even his signature "S/SAS/XMY" could read as "Servus Sum Altissimi Salvatoris (I am a servant of supreme Savior) /Christ, Mary, and Joseph."

When Columbus died, he was buried as Christian at a Christian church in Spain, Catedral de Sevilla. But, in 1542 the remains in his grave were transferred to Santo Domingo, in eastern Hispaniola, namely today’s Dominican Republic.

In any way, the recent great earthquake in Haiti might be really suggesting a need for reviewing who Christopher Columbus was, since Haiti shared Hispaniola Island with Dominican Republic.

Supporters of homeless people are now being interviewed in an NHK TV program broadcast from Tokyo.

They look sorry to comment that young homeless people in Japan tend to blame themselves but not society or other rich people. One of the supporters argued that it is a result from social brain-washing to have them think so, so that other rich people do not have to bother themselves in helping homeless people.

To turn a spotlight on homeless people is the most unthinkable thing arrogant politicians would rather try in their so-called political activities not only in Japan but also anywhere in the world.

Indeed, in a sense, Jesus Christ was the one who lived a homeless life, though as a true hero. Do not forget Jesus Christ as a homeless hero of 2000 years ago!
