"the Holy Ghost shall teach you" - Parliament Quotas

The Tokyo Railroad Station

Parliament Quotas

The Lower House of the Japanese National Assembly, called the Diet, has a fixed number of 480, while the Upper House of the Diet has 242 seats.

The Upper House was formerly the House of Lords which was abolished after WWII with the noble class gone, too.

The prime minister can dissolve the Lower House at his will at any time, since the Lower House has an advantage to elect the prime minister over the Upper House.  The term of the Lower House is four years, though it is dissolved in less than three years on average.

The Upper-House members serve it for six years, but every three years half of them are elected newly.

As Japan has a big financial problem, many critics, journalists, and Media guys discuss that the specified number of seats of both the Houses must be decreased drastically.

However, the ratio of national lawmakers in Japan over the Japanese population is not so large as that in other countries, especially European countries. (This ratio of the US is smaller.)

When cutting costs for democracy, it is important not to reduce the number of representatives of people, but salaries and  remuneration of lawmakers should be reduced drastically.

Instead of decreasing the number of the Lower House members, for example, from 480 to 240, rewards for lawmakers should be halved in Japan and any other countries.

"they might put Lazarus also to death" - Tokyo Inland Earthquake

Tokyo Bay

Tokyo Inland Earthquake

Salmons do not run up rivers from Tokyo Bay, surrounded by the Kanto region, since it is just below the southern limit of  salmons' inhabitation.

The Tone River, the largest river in Japan, that flows 30 km or more north of Tokyo into the Pacific Ocean is however one of the most southern rivers in Japan where salmon run.

The Tone River once flew into Tokyo Bay, but the Tokugawa samurai regime changed its course so that it did not flood around the samurai regime capital Edo, presently called Tokyo.

http://www.water.go.jp/honsya/honsya/english/jwa_ta/map1.html

The region between the Tone River (in north) and the Ara-kawa River (in south) includes the central part of Tokyo City and the Great Tokyo Metropolitan Area.

And, one of the biggest concerns of Tokyo citizens and the Japanese Government is that an inland earthquake might occur someday in the big basins of the two major rivers in this Kanto region to sacrifice thousands of people.

"he went into their synagogue" - A Yankee on a Goodwill Mission

A Famous Gate of the Senso-ji Temple, Tokyo

A Yankee on a Goodwill Mission

Curtis Granderson, an outfielder of the New York Yankees, visited Japan.

He came as a kind of envoy to express sympathy for the 2011-tsunami hit people in Japan.

Mr. Granderson taught yesterday how to better make a hit and better catch a ball to baseball-loving children in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Pref.

On December 11, he is scheduled to visit Okinawa.

Mat 12:10 And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.
Mat 12:11 And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?
Mat 12:12 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.

"and unleavened bread" - Alexander the Great and Christianity

Tokyo and Tokyo Bay

Alexander the Great and Christianity

One interesting argument about Alexander the Great and his influence on Christianity is as follows:
In conclusion, the influence of the mighty Macedonian monarch, Alexander the Great, upon the Christianity that came about nearly three hundred years after his death is extremely palpable. By conquering more territory than any one person had before, utilizing the concept of Hellenization and spreading his Greek heritage to those conquered territories, introducing the concept of a divine savior king, and by contributing to the advancement of many of the Greek philosophies which found their way into the New Testament, he did much to shape the foundation of a religion that he would not live long enough to practice. Though Eugene Borza gives him the appellation of "world figure", somehow this does not seem enough (Borza 2). Given that this great military ruler, conqueror and killer of millions can be attributed with much of the basis for a religion whose core message is steeped in peace, perhaps a better sobriquet for Alexander would be "an icon of irony".
http://voices.yahoo.com/alexander-great-his-life-influence-christianity-5832200.html
So, 300 years before Christ Jesus was born, Alexander traveled literally from Greece to Asia Minor, Egypt, Mesopotamia, Iran, Afghanistan, and as far as the border to India.

So, we may think that Christ Jesus also traveled from Nazareth to Greece and Rome, or to Egypt or otherwise to Babylon if not as far as to India.

Anyway, it is very mysterious that until He started His holy mission, He had not performed any great miracles in His home town where He is supposed to have been living as a young carpenter.

Christ Jesus must have worked great wonders somewhere in those areas without witnesses of Israelites before He started His holy mission when He is believed to have grown up to be about 35 years old, provided that He was born in 4 BC and died in AD 33.

Finally, Christ Jesus never mentioned Alexander the Great even in His parable.

"And there was war in heaven" - Review of Japanese Earthquakes

Government Office Quarter, Tokyo

Review of Japanese Earthquakes

Today an M7.3 earthquake occurred in Japan.

Specifically it was set off at a location in the North Pacific Ocean about 100 km east of the epicenter of the M9.0 Earthquake of  March 11, 2011.  No casualties and big damage have been reported.

So, let's review how big earthquakes with a magnitude of M5.0 or more which occurred between March 9 and March 20, 2011 and two M7.0 class earthquakes that were set off on April 7 and 11.

Today's M7.3 earthquake happened around the epicenter of the M7.5 earthquake having been set off at 15:25 on March 11, 2011.

The zone full of earthquakes off Honsyu Island, where Tokyo City and Tokyo Bay are situated, is along the border of two continental plates:

To make sure, the plate Tokyo is on is called the North American Plate.

So, there are four big continental plates converge around Tokyo and Mt. Fuji, facing Sagami Trench.  Hence, Tokyo and Mt. Fuji are so unique and special.

Note that the distance between Mt. Fuji and Tokyo is about 100 km or 62 miles.

So, finally, let's confirm where an M7.3 earthquake occurred today , specifically, at 17:18 on December 7 (Japan Time).

Note that Japan is almost as large as California.

"when Herod would have brought him forth" - Syria and the World

Tokyo, Japan

Syria and the World

Something terrible would surely happen in the world in near future.

It is mostly because people have enjoyed their lives too much while Syrians are being killed.

While many people in Syria were feeling their lives were in danger, most of citizens in the world were enjoying the 2012 London Olympics.

For example, while the War on Terror was going on in Iraq and Afghanistan, some Muslims were enjoying economic success in Dubai.  And then the 2008 Financial Crisis was set off in New York to eventually hit Dubai.

In 2000, the White House exhibited some deplorable obscene incident to the world.  It symbolized the recent trend of degraded public morals in the US.   And then the 2001 9/11 Terror was set off in New York and Washington DC.

From Libya and Egypt to Syria turmoil in the Islamic society has expanded with some hope of improvement of the Islamic world, but it looks like coming into a dead end.

Behind the Assad regime in  Syria, there are dangerous supportive powers of Iran, Russia, and China.  It might imply that a future decisive war might occur between NATO and those military-dependent countries.

We had better take precautions against possible expansion of the situation in Syria where Abraham once traveled 4000 years ago.

"And again he sent another" - The Holy Stars

A Central District in Tokyo Metropolis, Tokyo

The Holy Stars

Probably 4 BC must be the year very important for the birth of Christ Jesus, though He must have been born on December 25, 5 BC.
The search for the Stars of the Magi as nonperiodic astronomical occurrences such as comets and nova, has turned many to the extensive ancient records of the Chinese astronomers. In the Ho Pen Yoke catalogue is found a hui star that was sighted in the lunar month falling in March/April of 5 BCE, and it was visible for seventy days.5 Also recorded during this period is Haley's comet in 12 BCE, a comet in 10 BCE, and a comet or nova on April 24 of 4 BCE; the following entry is a comet in 13 CE.6 Of interest in this search are the appearances in 5 and 4 BCE.
The "star" of 5 BCE appeared sometime during the Chinese lunar month from March 10 to April 7. The middle of that month was about March 25. This is a prime candidate for the first Star of the Magi, which coincided with the conception of Jesus.

This "star" was described as a hui-hsing or "sweeping star" or "broom star." This comet or nova was visible for seventy days and was reported in the constellation Aquila. It arose about four to five hours before the sun and was visible in the late night sky toward the east. Bright, long lasting comets tend to be close to the sun and earth, which makes them appear to move rapidly against the background of stars. This was not reported in the Chinese annals, suggesting the "star" was not a comet. A nova rapidly comes to maximum brightness and then falls off over a time to invisibility; it may reappear some years later. Although not certain, the "star" was probably a nova. This nova is suggested as the first observation of the Magi who, "saw His star in the east." (Matt. 2:2)

The "star" of 4 BCE was reported only for April 24. It was described as a po-hsing or "sparkling star." This was a nova, or possibly a supernova, which appeared in the constellation Capricornus. This constellation is next to Aquila and would have appeared very close to the same location as the nova of 5 BCE. It also arose about four to five hours before the sun. If a supernova, it would have continued to be visible into the daylight. A supernova will leave a pulsar remnant. The binary pulsar PSR1913+16b has been identified as this pulsar, although with a low probability because of the density of pulsars in that area.7

The supernova of April 24, 4 BCE is suggested as the Star of Bethlehem. It has been calculated that if an observer looked from the Old South Gate leading from Jerusalem to Bethlehem, which is 20o west of south, that just before sunrise on that day, this star would have appeared 70o above the horizon, directly over Bethlehem. This would be a very possible time of departure from Jerusalem for the Magi. As a supernova in approximately the same location, which is unexpected, it might have seemed to the Magi to be a reappearance of the nova of 5 BCE. The timing of just over a year between the novas might account for Herod's selection of two years for the age of the children to be killed.

It is not known how any Magi would make an astrological interpretation of the first seventy-day nova. The interpretation may have been found according to their established astrological procedures, or given in a dream by God, just as He later warned them not to return to Herod. The April 24, 4 BCE nova would then be the Star over Bethlehem. Here may be a bona fide contender for the Star of Bethlehem.

A possible objection to this interpretation is that by the time the Magi arrived in Bethlehem the nova or supernova would have moved out of position and may have been washed out by daylight. However, when the Magi "saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy." (Matt. 2:10) The initial sighting from the Old South Gate may have become frozen in their minds, standing still, leading them rapidly by their highly charged emotions. An open inquiry in Bethlehem would have then located the child, especially since God brought them there.

The two novas of 5 BCE and 4 BCE fit the two departures to Nazareth. The first nova began in March of 5 BCE, and lasted for seventy days. The middle of that lunar month, about March 25, coincides with the traditional date for the Annunciation, or the conception of Jesus by the Holy Spirit. This would be more than a coincidence. This would then place the birth of Jesus in December of 5 BCE, possibly on the traditional date of December 25. Jesus was then presented at the Temple forty-one days later, or February 2, 4 BCE. Joseph, Mary and Jesus departed for Nazareth at that time. After Jesus was born, "his parents used to go to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover." (Luke 2:41) If "every year" is to be interpreted literally, then Joseph and Mary must have gone to the following Passover and Feast of Unleavened Bread, April 11 to April 18, 4 BCE. They apparently then spent time in nearby Bethlehem, probably with friends made a few months earlier when Jesus was born. On April 24 there appeared the supernova, the Star of Bethlehem. The Magi presented their gifts to Jesus that day. Then followed the flight into Egypt and the massacre of the innocents. Their stay in Egypt ended about six months later with the death of Herod on November 27, 4 BCE. On the way home they bypassed Jerusalem on this second return to Nazareth.

It should be noted that there was no "Christmas Star" associated with the birth of Jesus. The first Star was at His conception, and the second Star when He was about four months old.

So, finally the answer was given by the ancient Chinese cultural heritage which was then imported by Japan later.

"Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him" - Holy Eclipse

Prime Minister Office, Tokyo, Japan

Holy Eclipse

It looks like very true that Christ Jesus faced the last time of His human life on the earth in AD 33.
Isaac Newton was one of the first astronomers to estimate the date of the crucifixion and suggested Friday, April 23, 34 AD/CE.[68][105] In 1990 astronomer Bradley E. Schaefer computed the date as Friday, April 3, 33 AD/CE.[106] In 1991, John Pratt stated that Newton's method was sound, but included a minor error at the end. Pratt suggested the year 33 AD/CE as the answer.[68] Using the completely different approach of a lunar eclipse model, Humphreys and Waddington arrived at the conclusion that Friday, April 3, 33 AD/CE was the date of the crucifixion.

So, one thing sure is that the process of His Coming Again to this world must be completed in 2033.

"shall be proclaimed upon the housetops" - The Crown

Tokyo Sky-Tree Tower, Tokyo

The Crown

The imminent possible reason that Christ Jesus must have been born about 2000 years ago is that He had to succeed  the crown from the dying king of Israel at the time.
Herod (Hebrew: הוֹרְדוֹס‎, Hordos, Greek: Ἡρῴδης, Hērōdēs), also known as Herod the Great (born 73 or 74 BCE, died 4 BCE in Jericho[1]), was a Roman client king ofJudea.[2][3][4] His epithet of "the Great" is widely disputed as he is described as "a madman who murdered his own family and a great many rabbis."
...

39–37 BCE– War against Antigonus. After the conquest of Jerusalem and victory over Antigonus, Mark Antony executes Antigonus
36 BCE– Herod makes his 17-year-old brother-in-law, Aristobulus III, high priest, fearing that the Jews would appoint Aristobulus III "King of the Jews" in his place.
35 BCE– Aristobulus III is drowned at a party, on Herod's orders.
31 BCE– Israel suffers a devastating earthquake. Octavian defeats Mark Antony, so Herod switches allegiance to Octavian, later known as Augustus.
4 BCE– Young disciples smashed the golden eagle over the main entrance of the Temple of Jerusalem after the Pharisee teachers claimed it was an idolatrous Roman symbol. Herod arrested them, brought them to court, and sentenced them. Augustus approved the death penalty for Antipater. Herod then executed his son, and again changed his will: Archelaus (from the marriage with Malthace) would rule as ethnarch over the tetrachy of Judea, while Antipas (by Malthace) and Philip (from the fifth marriage with Cleopatra of Jerusalem) would rule as tetrarchs over Galilee and Peraea (Transjordan), also over Gaulanitis (Golan),Trachonitis (Hebrew: Argob), Batanaea (now Ard-el-Bathanyeh) and Panias. Salome I was also given a small toparchy in the Gaza region. As Augustus did not confirm his will, no one received the title of King; however, the three sons were granted rule of the stated territories.
...
Some of Herod's other achievements include the development of water supplies for Jerusalem, building fortresses such as Masada andHerodium, and founding new cities such as Caesarea Maritima and the enclosures of Cave of the Patriarchs and Mamre in Hebron. He andCleopatra owned a monopoly over the extraction of asphalt from the Dead Sea, which was used in ship building. He leased copper mines on Cyprus from the Roman emperor.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herod_the_Great

In its Nativity account, the Gospel of Matthew associates the birth of Jesus with the reign of Herod the Great, who is generally believed to have died around 4 BC/BCE.[28][74] Matthew 2:1 states that: "Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king" and Luke 1:5 mentions the reign of Herod shortly before the birth of Jesus.[28] Luke's gospel also describes the birth as taking place during the first census, which is generally believed to have occurred in 6 AD/CE.[75] Most scholars generally assume a date of birth between 6 and 4 BC/BCE.[76] Other scholars assume that Jesus was born sometime between 7 and 2 BC/BCE.[77]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christ_Jesus

So, immediately after  the death of king of Israel Herod, new King Jesus was borne, which tells that there was no interruption in the royal succession.

And, probably it must be because that it must have been Christ Jesus who put an end to this royal succession of Judaists or Israelites.  Or otherwise, Christ Jesus must still keep the tile of the king of Israel.
The acronym INRI (Iēsus Nazarēnus, Rēx Iūdaeōrum) represents the Latin inscription which in English reads as "Jesus the Nazarene, King of the Jews" and John 19:20 states that this was written in three languages: Hebrew, Latin and Greek during the crucifixion of Jesus. The Greek version reads ΙΝΒΙ, representing Ἰησοῦς ὁ Ναζωραῖος ὁ Bασιλεὺς τῶν Ἰουδαίων.[4]
In the New testament, the "King of the Jews” title is used only by the gentiles, namely by the Magi, Pontius Pilate and the Roman soldiers. In contrast, the Jewish leaders use the designation "King of Israel".[2] The phrase has also been translated King of the Judeans (see Ioudaioi).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/INRI

But why must he still keep the tile of the king of Israel?

It is because He is going to come back to this world and Israel, again, as the Second Coming.

"they that hear the word of God, and keep it" - How to Prevent Future Nuclear Accidents

A Channel Near the Tokyo Station

How to Prevent Future Nuclear Accidents

The biggest concern should be how well China and South Korean can continue to manage their nuclear power generation stations.

As you know, the US experienced the Three Mile Island accident in 1979; the Soviet Union suffered the Chernobyl accident in 1986; and Japan faced the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident in 2011 which is not yet completely fixed.

So, it is very likely that China and South Korea will repeat the mistakes those nuclear advanced countries have made.

In the worst case, China would have devastating damage on its coast line from Shanghai to Hong Kong and in the regions along Chang Jiang (the Long River).  South Korea would lose the southern part of its national land for nuclear contamination.

So, it is imperative for Japan, South Korea, and China to cooperate in developing more effective technology to secure safety of nuclear power plants and in pursuing new energy technologies and policies which would allow for abolition of nuclear power plants.

By the way, based on the experience of the 2011 Fukuhsima Daiichi nuclear accident, I can propose one idea for building a safe nuclear power plant.

A nuclear reactor should be built in the center of a huge artificial lake which is directly linked to a big river or a sea to take in fresh water.

The ceiling or roof the nuclear reactor should be set lower than the water surface of the lake.  Then, if a big accident should occur,  all the power sources should be lost, and circulation of cooling water should be stopped between the reactor and a turbine room, fresh water for preventing a meltdown of nuclear fuel could be supplied from the lake simply by workers who manually open valves of a pipe connecting the top of reactor and the lake.   Then, water would flow spontaneously from the artificial lake to the inside of the crippled nuclear reactor without electricity and motors.

This simple method is surely effective, since the Fukushima Daiichi plant of Japan underwent meltdowns due to a lack of electricity to activate motors and valves needed for circulation of cooling water while the temperature inside crippled reactors was going up as water evaporated and got lost from the reactors after they suffered an M9.0 earthquake and 16-meter high tsunamis on March 11, 2011.

"they come again to Jerusalem" - Replace All the Batteries

Haneda Airport on Tokyo Bay

Replace All the Batteries

There is a device using four units of batteries.

One day it failed to operate.  But I experienced the same situation several times before.

So, I exchanged two batteries which looked older, as before.  Whenever I replaced two older batteries among the four, it was restored.  But this time it didn't work.

So, I checked it by disassembling it and using some method to find that a switching unit connected to the main body over a wire properly worked.

Accordingly I went out to buy a new main body.  But when I checked it at home I found something strange.  The new main body with two new batteries and two existent batteries (those relatively new among the four old batteries) did not work, either.   So, I replaced the two existent batteries with two other new ones.  It worked.

I should have replaced all the four batteries at once.

So, finally I got one new lesson and one new device redundant at hand.

"yet shall he live" - General Election On December 16

Public Park Annexed to the Imperial Palace, Tokyo

General Election On December 16

Prime Minister of Japan Mr. Noda promised the president of the major opposition party LDP Mr. Tanigaki on August 8 that if Mr. Tanigaki cooperated with the prime minister to pass a tax rise bill and laws related to social welfare and pension policies he would dissolve the Lower House in near future or as soon as appropriate.

As the LDP lost power in 2009 but is now expected to win a next general election, Mr. Tanigaki accepted this offer.  Besides, the LDP also committed itself publicly to reform the national finance and hence increase the consumption tax rate.  Accordingly the bills passed the national assembly in August.

But, PM Mr. Noda would not keep his word.  Meanwhile, Mr. Tanigaki lost support from LDP members to lose his position as he could not run for the LDP presidential election held in September because of too few supporters for his reelection.

On the other hand, Mr. Noda was reelected in the election of his party the DPJ to choose its new head.  So, Lower House lawmaker Mr. Noda could continue his premiership; but he would not dissolve the Lower House that has power to elect the prime minister of Japan.  Every survey showed a result that Mr. Noda and the ruling party DPJ would most likely lose the next general election.

But, as the public and the opposition parties blamed Mr. Noda for not fulfilling the promise, the approval rating for PM Mr. Noda plummeted below 20%.  So, finally the prime minister announced in a face-to-face discussion with new president of the LDP Mr. Shinzo Abe in the national Diet on Nov. 12 that he would resolve the Lower House on November 16.

Accordingly, the election was formally  slated for December 16.

This is the current state of the politics in Japan.

"Have faith in God" - One Heroine out of Toyota

Imperial Palace Entrance, Tokyo

One Heroine out of Toyota

There was one young female office worker in the home office of Toyota Motors in Aichi Prefecture.

It was immediately after WWII.  Though Toyota was in a kind of boom during WWII, it lost many business connections and chances since the Empire of Japan lost the war against the US.

So, she was not so much thrilled in her work, though she was assigned to a job to copy various reports, letters, documents, etc.  As there were no modern copying machines at the time, she had to make a fair copy of every sheet in handwriting using carbon paper.

While doing this carbon copy work, she was drawn to contents of those papers.  At the time the labor union was fiercely fighting the corporate management.  Japan was in recession, so that the company wanted to fire redundant workers.  On the other hand, workers without much to do in workshops were indulged in endless discussions and meetings to build a strategy for negotiations for a wage increase.

She enjoyed vivid exchanges of words between the management and the union recorded  in minute books.  And she also learnt what clever persons would say and what foolish ones would discuss.

As time went by, the Korean War erupted in 1950.  The US Army passed a huge amount of orders to Toyota, though they mostly wanted to buy trucks from Toyota.  Anyway, she observed how a corporation, namely Toyota, recovered from the state of a slump after WWII, riding on a special procurement boom triggered by the Korean War.

But, while other young female workers left the company for marriage, she was still doing the same job of copying documents in office.  She felt that she had to do something, as she found that she was not so lucky in romance in this head office of Toyota 350 km west of Tokyo.

So, one day, she abruptly went into a room of an executive who was responsible for human affairs of whole Toyota, as her desk was close to the director corner.  The executive was surprised to see her coming into his room for some talk without reservation or without following hierarchical protocol; she should have first talked to the manager who supervised her section.   But as she asked him to help her transfer to the branch office in Tokyo (since she was originally born and raised in Tokyo), he understood her.   And after asking some questions of her, finally he said to her to wait for one more year.

And, one year passed.  She almost forgot what she asked of the executive.  But one day suddenly an assistant manager of the personnel department called her working at her desk, saying dryly by phone, "In a week, you are going to be transferred to the Tokyo office.  Get prepared."

Then she moved to Tokyo and worked in the Tokyo branch office of Toyota.  She became the first female Toyota employee who got transferred.

In a few years since she came to Tokyo, she became a part time reporter and writer for some magazines in the social issue field.

It was because she happened to join a circle of  Tokyo intellectuals and professors in the societal issue field and she presented to them her diary where she had mainly written daily incidents in the Toyota headquarters busy in handling the labor union, since she was asked to show them whatever she had ever written.  Though she had written the diary without any intention but for herself, it was highly praised by then leading figures in the literary arena and the academic world in Tokyo when it was actually published in a certain periodical.

As time further went by, she quit Toyota and grew to be an independent writer in the documentary-style work field.  She succeeded so much to even make frequent TV appearances.  The ex-Toyota female office clerk became one of top female journalists in Japan after WWII.

And finally she died in April 2009, leaving many interesting books she wrote based on direct interviews with various persons and hard work to collect and analyze material.
Fuyuko Kamisaka (June 10, 1930 – April 14, 2009) was a Japanese non-fiction author.
Kamisaka was born as Yoshiko Niwa in Tokyo on June 10, 1930. Her first work, Shokuba-no gunzo (People at a Place of Work), based on her experiences as a worker for Toyota, was published in 1959 and won a prize for works by new authors.
Her best known work is ""Keishu Nazare-en" about a facility for Japanese widows of South Koreans. [1]

"no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you" - 1840 Opium War

Mt. Fuji, 100 Km Far

1840 Opium War

The single incident that created the greatest commotion in East Asia in the modern history is the Opium War.

The First Anglo-Chinese War (1839–42), known popularly as the First Opium War or simply the Opium War, was fought between the United Kingdom and the Qing Dynasty of China over their conflicting viewpoints on diplomatic relations, trade, and the administration of justice.

There was an ever growing demand for tea in the United Kingdom, while acceptance of only silver in payment by China for tea resulted in large continuous trade deficits.[7] A trade imbalance came into being that was highly unfavourable to Britain.
By 1817, the British hit upon counter-trading in a narcotic, Indian opium, as a way to both reduce the trade deficit and finally gain profit from the formerly money-losing Indian Colony. The Qing Administration originally tolerated the importation of opium because it created an indirect tax on Chinese subjects, while allowing the British to double tea exports from China to England which profited the monopoly for tea exports of the Qing imperial treasury and its agents.
However, by 1820 the planting of tea in the Indian and African colonies along with accelerated opium consumption reversed the flow of silver, just when the Imperial Treasury needed to finance suppression of rebellions against the Qing. The Qing government attempted to end the opium trade, but its efforts were complicated by local officials (including the Viceroy of Canton), who profited greatly from the bribes and taxes.
In 1839, the Daoguang Emperor appointed Lin Zexu as the governor of Canton with the goal of reducing and eliminating the opium trade. On his arrival, Lin Zexu banned the sale of opium, demanded that all opium be surrendered to the Chinese authorities, and required that all foreign traders sign a 'no opium trade' bond the breaking of which was punishable by death. Lin also closed the channel to Canton, effectively holding British traders hostage in Canton
In June 1840, an expeditionary force of 15 barracks ships, 4 steam-powered gunboats and 25 smaller boats with 4000 marines reached Guangdong from Singapore. The marines were headed by James Bremer. Bremer demanded the Qing Government compensate the British for losses suffered from interrupted trade
By January 1841, British forces commanded the high ground around Canton and defeated the Chinese at Ningbo and at the military post of Dinghai.
By the middle of 1842, the British had defeated the Chinese at the mouth of their other great riverine trade route, the Yangtze, and were occupying Shanghai. The war finally ended in August 1842, with the signing of China's first Unequal Treaty, the Treaty of Nanking.

The ease with which the British forces had defeated the numerically superior Chinese armies seriously affected the Qing Dynasty's prestige. The success of the First Opium War allowed the British to resume the opium trade. It also paved the way for opening of the lucrative Chinese market to other commerce and the opening of Chinese society to missionary endeavors.

China lost face.   And it took 170 years for China to start to behave as an arrogant empire again.

But it is very important that the bottom line of the British trade in the 19th century came to record a surplus only by its manipulation of opium from India and tea/silver from China.

And this trade system of the UK was only realized through its use of superior military power in India and China.

It is also ironic that this relationship with the UK did not lead to fill-scale modernization of their society in India and China.  But it was Japan that learnt lessons from the Opium War so as to carefully avoid military conflicts with the US and other Western powers when they sailed to Japan to request ending of  Japan's seclusion policy a decade after the Opium War.

By carefully promoting trade with Western powers, Japan succeeded in establishing the modern and Westernized Empire of Japan, especially by applying modern technology to building of mighty navy and army.

As for China, it was from 1980s that its economy and industry started to be modernized with great help from Japan.   And when the UK returned Hong Kong to China in 1997, Chinese economy was already on track to be one of the largest economies in the world, following the US and Japan.

From other perspective, wealth was in India and China but not in England and Europe.

So, after starting the Industrial Revolution, the UK applied new technology to building modern military which they directed to Africa and Asia.  Especially, the UK occupied many sources of wealth in East Asia to enrich itself.  So, the source of wealth was in Asia for the British Empire.

Accordingly it is no wonder that East Asia, including India, is going to be the center of the global economy in the 21st century.

Other source of wealth in the world in this context are of course Japan and the US.    The British Empire could not occupy and exploit wealth in Japan and the US.  The UK could not keep America in its economic territory as the US got independent in 1776.  If the UK had been able to keep America under its governance, the British Empire should be the sole-super power on the earth today.

Japan has never been victimized by the UK, since Japan has never been colonized and invaded by Western powers unlike India, China, and even the US.

Luk 11:20 But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.
Luk 11:21 When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace:
Luk 11:22 But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.
Luk 11:23 He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.

"if I by Beelzebub cast out devils" - Christ Jesus Unique

Mt. Fuji, Japan

Christ Jesus Unique

One thing very particular about Christ Jesus is that He was killed by soldiers.

Abraham and Moses were not; Buddha was not; Confucius was not; and the founder of Islam was not killed by enemy soldiers, but Christ Jesus was.

In this context, all the people who has been ever born and killed by enemy soldiers could find a friend in Christ Jesus if not in Abraham, Moses, Buddha, and the founder of Islam.

So, all the people facing a fatal threat from enemy soldiers should cry our for help from Christ Jesus if they are Judaists, Muslims, or Buddhists.

So, all the people in Syria and Gaza should cry our for help from Christ Jesus if they are Judaists, Muslims, or Buddhists.

Luk 11:18 If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub.
Luk 11:19 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges.

"and glorified God" - We Need the Savior

Prime Minister Office, Tokyo

We Need the Savior

Science and technology look like going to pose a great threat to mankind.

With advancement of technology, today even a school boy can get a personal computer which has performance equivalent to that of old super-computers only professionals and experts in first-rate organizations in the world were allowed to use a few decades ago.

If terrorists abuse this power of today's computers, they must be able to design or acquire some dangerous weapons, including  destructive computer viruses.

And ordinary citizens can buy various types of very advanced products that can be easily modified so that  they can use them as destructive weapons, too.

Further, people in the medical science sector can today easily handle and manipulate human genes and cells to produce new or dangerous life or biological weapons.

And, in order to prevent some crazy boys, terrorists, scientists, terror states, etc. from exerting their ability to abuse advanced technology and science, we have to present something more attractive to them, so that they will abandon their malicious plans to pursue other more peaceful interest.

For example, we are actually kind of being forced to allow the young North Korean leader to enjoy very wealthy life so as to stop him from taking a risk of intimidating neighboring rich countries, such as Japan and the US, to extort any material interest.

In other word, while citizens have globally obtained a dangerous potential by easily accessing high technology and scientific products, if they are not satisfied with their life, they might resort to terror or a kind of terror to destroy the conventional framework of the society, cause a turmoil or a crisis, and then try to steal any wealth.

But we should not promise such citizens any material luxury in exchange of their temporary restraint from abusing technology and science for their material desire.

Rather we must persuade such citizens to behave like responsible members of the society.  For this cause, we have to reinforce our morals and authentic religions.

However, observing the state of mankind today, probably we will fail in achieving the safe society globally while technology and science are developed even by greedy private companies and greedy professors in the academic sector.

That is why we have to ask Christ Jesus to come to our world again.  His Second Coming can only save the world in this context, since modern technology and science were mostly studied, developed, and put into practical use in the European Christian world.

Act 11:17 Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?
Act 11:18 When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.

"whereunto shall I liken this generation?" - 13.75 ± 0.11 billion years

Tokyo Railroad Station, Tokyo

13.75 ± 0.11 billion years

The age of our universe is said to be 13.75 ± 0.11 billion years.

But there are 7 billion people now living on the earth.

The age of the universe is just twice more than the number of the world population.

In other word if we observe a life of each person in the world for two years in his/her life time, it will take time from the birth and the present state of the universe.

Just like a documentary film for each person in the world, if somebody records two-year long activities of each person in a film and runs it for a check or any purpose, it will take almost 14 billion years which is almost the same as the age of the universe.

So does it mean that there are so many people on this earth?  Or does the period of duration of the universe look a little short?

Or are there any prophesies that the universe will end when its continuance becomes equal to the number of years calculated by assigning two years to each member of mankind living on the globe?

On the other hand, it is said that there were 170 million to 300 million people on the earth when Christ Jesus was born about 2000 years ago.

So, we can assume that there were more than 270 million people on the earth around AD 1.  So at the time, the age of the universe was almost equal to the number of years calculated by assigning 50 years  to each member of mankind living on the globe.

Were there any prophesies, before AD 1, that the Son of God would emerge among human beings when the continuance of the universe became equal to the number of years calculated by assigning 50 years to each member of mankind living on the globe?

From other perspective, this 2000-year long history since the First Coming of Christ Jesus must look like just 48 years for the God or some of His Angel.

Otherwise, we may come to feel the universe or the God in the magnitude of 2/50 = 4% of that in which people felt the Creator 2000 years ago.  We are now 96% less pious than those who were living 2000 years ago.

So, the Second Coming of Christ has been so crucially wanted.
