The river Nile froze twice in recorded history, in 829 and 1010.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:2000_Year_Temperature_Comparison.png

It was an era of invasion of Italy, France, the Byzantine Empire, etc. by Vikings, Magyars, and so on.

It should be also noted that before WWI and WWII, the global temperature suddenly dropped.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Instrumental_Temperature_Record.png

The global warming will not probably trigger a great world-class war, since northern countries will have more farm lands. But, global cooling is more dangerous, though empirically.

And, of course, without power of Christianity and the Bible, Western Europe would not have been able to survive the period over 829 and 1010, since even the Nile was frozen.

SECTION I: Midterm Situations

1) In my rough estimation, African Americans account for 13% and Hispanic Americans account for 15% of the whole Americans. With 5% Asian Americans, the non-"white" minorities account for one third or 33% of the U.S. population. So, probably European Americans still account for 60% of the entire American citizens. Accordingly, it is no wonder that African-American President Mr. Barack Obama loses some or large part of his support base as time goes by. The fact that Mr. Obama was elected as U.S. President in 2008 is the more meaningful historic fact than whatever possible incidents to come in future that might deny his policy, idea, or style.

2) "There was zero net job creation in the first decade of the new millennium, compared to healthy job growth in each of the previous six decades. Job growth: percent change in payroll employment."

http://www.ritholtz.com/blog/2010/07/the-u-s-economys-lost-decade/

It is not only a structural problem but also a historical problem that American workers are facing. What they need is a paradigm change of a scale that can be seen only once in a century. They might need a more drastic president than Mr. Barack Obama is.

3) Once Former Japanese Prime Minister Mr. Yukio Hatoyama had an animation set up at the entrance to his home page on the Web. In this introductory animation, Mr. Hatoyama was depicted as a hero riding on a white horse running in the sky and coming down to save helpless people who eventually saw him off flying far after saving them. Some Japanese newspaper today reads that President Mr. Obama entered a castle riding on a white horse like a great prince but soon fell down onto the ground. I suppose there are two persons looking alike. But, in most of such cases, they can be very different persons to each. Their stories are yet to be completed, though both played a role of a revolutionary politician in each country through big elections.

4) Incumbent Foreign Minister Mr. Seiji Maehara is now in a very difficult situation his predecessor Mr. Katsuya Okada did not experience. As P.M. Mr. Naoto Kan has no intention to risk his political life and status by directly dealing with diplomatic matters for himself, Foreign Minister Mr. Maehara has to take up China, Russia, and the U.S. on his own initiative. As a hawk politician in the leftist regime, Mr. Maehara is basically in a difficult position, though he has been backed by Chief Cabinet Secretary Mr. Yoshito Sengoku, an ex-member of now-extinct Socialist Party of Japan. Mr. Maehara, a relatively young politician, is under fire from pro-Ozawa members of the DPJ and pro-Ozawa/pro-China critics; yet some LDP (the largest opposition party) members look like understanding him more than his nominal friends in the DPJ camp.

By the way, why are Democrats so strong in California where European Americans account for 40% and Asian Americans account for 13% among its population?

SECTION II: Tokyo, America, and China

If you have ever worked in a big city, you know you can catch a sign of a boom or a recession by looking up to windows of office buildings nearby. A trend of the U.S. office vacancy rate really tells what has happened in these two decades in America.

It is interesting to confirm that the IT boom at the peak around 2000 really surpassed the sub prime mortgage-backed housing boom at the peak around 2007.

The Chinese Communist Government two years ago invested so much money, reportedly $1.1 trillion, into the domestic market to boost GDP, namely economy. The result is 80 million vacant rooms in condominiums for residential use. The vacancy rate of newly built condominiums in Beijing has reached 65%.

Beijing District Releases Official Housing Vacancy Rates

...Beijing's largest district Chaoyang has issued figures showing that a total of 1.33 million square meters of residential space are vacant. Over half of the space has been empty for at least three years.

Among the empty residences, villas and luxury apartments totaled 521,000 square meters, accounting for 39.2 percent of the total and 54.9 percent of homes have remained empty for over three years. Ordinary flats accounted for 18 percent of the empty residential space, according to the report.

...Xie estimated that the vacancy rate for the China's private, commercial housing stock is between 25 and 30 percent, at least double compared to normal market conditions. Xie said the value of the inventory held by speculators probably accounts for around 15 percent of GDP.

According to the Chaoyang district report, from January to July, property investment in the district reached 44.63 billion yuan, up 17 percent year on year. During that period, commercial housing sales totaled 1.45 million square meters, down 57.4 percent year on year.

Roughly speaking, the vacancy rate in American cities is twice higher than Tokyo's.

Roughly speaking, the vacancy rate in Chinese cities is twice higher than American cities'.

So, China would like to bash America who would like to bash Tokyo.

Anyway, the myth of GDP might come to an end, since China has abused the relationship between GDP and construction of tall buildings, no matter how high their vacancy rates are.

Anyway, without the advanced information technology, China could not have spurred expansion of its industry and financial sector around 2000. And, unregulated construction of condominiums, houses, and commercial buildings is eventually going to take on China, too.

The river Nile froze twice in recorded history, in 829 and 1010.

And, around 1658, the earth experienced the Little Ice Age.

So, around 2020, the earth might experience a kind of little ice age.

This is the most important thing I have learnt today.

What about you? The same?

In addition, 2200 B.C. a certain northern volcano erupted in a scale beyond estimation, resulting in a subsequent 278-year dry period in southwest Asia, especially around Mesopotamia. It continued until the rain fall pattern in the region was restored to normalcy in 1900 B.C. But, Abraham must have already left a peripheral region of Ur, heading for the place his God pointed to.

This is the thing I have learnt today as the God so wished.

Once some young Japanese had a flight to America after learning English hard in Japan.

But, in America, they sometimes found that their English was not so useful, since Americans in Los Angeles or New York did not speak like an American English teacher in Japan. Some of them got sick to return to Japan. But, nowadays, such a case is rarely heard.

One of related factors is, of course, globalization of economy. Economic globalization and English is one of issues that cannot be neglected by Japanese. But, what about Americans: the issue of economic globalization and English? Do they learn Japanese or Chinese, or French or Latin?)

Joh 11:3 Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.

Joh 11:4 When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.
