A big incident in Japan today was an announcement delivered by Prime Minister Mr. Noda.

He said that he would start to join negotiations for TPP.  He plans to inform US President Mr. Obama of his decision in the APEC meeting scheduled in Hawaii this weekend.

However, at least 40% of Japanese voters are against the Trans-Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership Agreement, tough another 40% are in favor with Japan's entry to TPP.  Yet, in a democratic nation such as Japan, it would be very difficult to pursue a policy against which 40% of voters make an objection.

From the beginning, President Mr. Obama intends to increase employment in the US by increasing  export through TPP.  So, Japan's participation to TPP is a big issue for the Obama Administration. In this context, Japan is in a invulnerable position.  Yet, PM Mr. Noda looks like being compelled to join it, since major Japanese makers want the Government to conclude TPP.  The Japanese Federation of Economic Organizations is also pushing the political and social movement toward TPP.

Nonetheless, TPP will force Japanese farmers to compete with American and Australian farmers without protection of tariff duties.  As the land size of Japan is far smaller than those of America and Australia, Japanese agriculture, especially rice farming, cannot compete with American and Australian counterparts.  Even other Asian countries produce rice at lower costs.

So, TPP is very controversial for Japan as it aims at 0% tariff duties on every product.  But, US businesses would be able to enter Japanese markets in various sectors, such as the medicine, the legal service, and the public work. On the other hand, Japanese makers would be allowed to export products to America without customs duties, though they are just 2.5% or so now.  Yet, this margin is too small compared with a wide fluctuation of the exchange rate between the yen and the dollar.

In total, it is not so advantageous for Japan.  Japan should not join TPP.  But, as long as the Noda Cabinet continues, it will be difficult to break away from TPP.  So, this can be a reason to change the Japanese prime mister in a year or so, again.

There are 1,500 children, junior high-school students, and high school students who lost their parents in the 3/11 tsunami that rushed to northeast coasts of Japan on March 11, 2011.

One high school girl lost her mother while the two were running away from a tsunami.  They abandoned the car on a road with many cars jammed and started to climb up a hill nearby.  Her mother said on the uphill ramp that it was hard to climb.  Then just one meter away from the daughter, the mother was engulfed by the mighty tsunami.  But, the daughter was saved like a miracle on the slope of the hill.

Months after, the high school girl met another girl, two years younger, in a certain gathering of high school students from different tsunami affected areas.  The younger high school student also lost her mother while running away together from a fast and massive tsunami.  Her mother being stuck to something said to her daughter, "Please do not leave me!" But her daughter judged that if she had tried to help her mother she should have been drowned, too.  So, she ran away from the imminent danger to be saved alone eventually.  All beyond the tragedies, the two high-school girls became good friends and looked somehow happy on TV broadcast around Tokyo.

There are many such stories, since 20,000 people lost their lives in northeast Japan on March 11, 2011.

Today, everybody uses a cellular phone.

The core of a cellular phone is electricity.  Without electricity or a battery, it is nothing.  But, it is just 115 years since mankind identified physical existence of electrons whose flow in quite a huge number is electric current, namely electricity.

In 1896, the British physicist J. J. Thomson, with his colleagues John S. Townsend and H. A. Wilson,[11] performed experiments indicating that cathode rays really were unique particles, rather than waves, atoms or molecules as was believed earlier. Thomson made good estimates of both the charge e and the mass m, finding that cathode ray particles, which he called "corpuscles," had perhaps one thousandth of the mass of the least massive ion known: hydrogen. He showed that their charge to mass ratio, e/m, was independent of cathode material. He further showed that the negatively charged particles produced by radioactive materials, by heated materials and by illuminated materials were universal. The name electron was again proposed for these particles by the Irish physicist George F. Fitzgerald, and the name has since gained universal acceptance.

This discovery has led to development of modern technology.  Discovery of just one physical entity called electron has made today's material civilization possible.

Electrons are everywhere, though most of them are bound to atom cores or atomic nuclei without flowing outside and thus without becoming electric current.

As an atom has a size or a volume, a man has a size or a volume, since the human body is made of atoms and only atoms in a sense, though there are hundred types or so of atoms..

The electrical strength and the mass of an electron is well known through rigorous scientific experiments.  But, its size is yet to be determined.  A standard theory regards it as zero, but it can have a finite volume.

Size of an atom: 1 x 10^-10 =1/10000000000 meters

Size of a nucleus: 1 x 10^-15 = 1/1000000000000000 meters

Planck's length: 1.6 x 10^-35 meters

Schwarzschild radius: 1.3 x 10^-57 meters

Of course, such a tiny entity never knows that it is used for your mobile phone, PC, TV, or electricity.

A lightning discharge consists primarily of a flow of electrons.The electric potential needed for lightning may be generated by a triboelectric effect.

And when you examine anything, a stone, a plant, an animal, a man, a cellular phone, chemicals, and clothes, you will find that they are all simply made of electrons and atomic nuclei (protons and neutrons) and made of them only.  But, how can these three types of materials, electrons, protons and neutrons, make so many various matters and products is a true wonder.

A Letter to Newspaper

A 90-years old woman wrote a letter to a newspaper as I read it around Tokyo.

Two months before the Pearl Harbor Attack, she married.  And, next year her husband was drafted to be sent to the South Pacific Ocean area.  It was one year after the end of the Second World War that she was informed that her husband died in New Guinea Island.

New Guinea was strategically important because it was a major landmass to the immediate north of Australia. Its large land area provided locations for large land, air and naval bases. 

Fighting between Allied and Japanese forces commenced with the Japanese assault on Rabaul on 23 January 1942. Rabaul became the forward base for the Japanese campaigns in mainland New Guinea, including the pivotal Kokoda Track campaign of July 1942–January 1943, and the Battle of Buna-Gona. Fighting in some parts of New Guinea continued until the war ended in August 1945. 

General Douglas MacArthur as Supreme Commander in the South West Pacific Area, led the Allied forces. MacArthur was based in Melbourne, Brisbane and Manila. The Japanese 8th Area Army, under General Hitoshi Imamura, was responsible for both the New Guinea and Solomon Islands campaigns. Imamura was based at Rabaul. The Japanese 18th Army, under Lieutenant General Hatazō Adachi, was responsible for Japanese operations on mainland New Guinea.

A series of battles in New Guinea became one of the tragic campaigns for the Imperial Military.  In and around New Guinea 200,000 Japanese soldiers were killed in WWII.  Only the deaths of Japanese soldiers in the mainland China and in the Philippines surpassed this number in New Guinea.

It is unknown forever how the husband of the old woman died in New Guinea.  But, before leaving his home forever, he painted a picture of roses as he was good at painting.  The picture she has kept to date has helped her spiritually all through her life in the post-war society of Japan.  She now feels so happy to live with her son's family.  So, just to tell how one picture has supported her for decades after 1945, she wrote a letter to a newspaper company in Tokyo.

World War II is yet to be closed for some old people in Japan if they become 90-years old.

Not only the Shroud of Turin. but also the Sudarium of Oviedo, or Shroud of Oviedo, is an important relic belived to have been used for burial of Christ Jesus.

The first International Congress on the Sudarium was held thirteen years ago, and given that direct hands-on investigation and other reseach has been continuous since that time, there was plenty of new material to digest and hear... 

The sample from the Sudarium was  dated to around 700 AD...   

Finally, the history of the Sudarium is very well established and there are definite references to its presence in Jerusalem in AD 570 and at the beginning of the fifth century.  DNA studies on the linen of the Sudarium are also underway,  under the supervision of Manuel Rey (who works at Newbiotechnic in Seville) and Enrique Monte (Department of Microbiology and Genetics at the >University of Salamanca). These studies are just beginning and the presentation was more about what they hope to obtain than actual results.  Their aim is to able to pinpoint the geographical area where the linen came from.   

The talk about DNA studies on blood samples from the Sudarium generated a lot of excitement.  Antonio Alonso from the National  Institute  of Forensic Science and Toxicology has analysed blood samples and tried to establish if a DNA chain can be established.  Attempts to identify nuclear DNA (i.e. DNA contained within the nucleus) were unsuccessful, but he was able to identify  a human mitichondrial DNA  – in other words, human DNA from the blood on the cloth.  However, Alonso recommended great caution and would not show the actual DNA  results for two reasons  – it could very well belong to anybody who has handled the cloth over the centuries, and he wished to avoid sensationalist headlines of the “DNA of Christ” kind.  Studies will continue.

Though it is difficult to match the two relics with each other, even the Vatican is engaged in pursuit of truth at least to some extent.

The radiocarbon dating test conducted in 1988 with the Shroud of Turin tells that it was created between 1260 and 1390, which disappointed many people in the world.


Here I can present a new theory about the Shroud of Turin.


There has been misunderstanding about the negative image and the positive image of the shroud.


It is said that an Italian cameraman first discovered the true image, namely the positive image, on the shroud in 1988. 

On May 25, 1898, after the opening ceremony and during the noon closure of the exhibition, Pia set up equipment in Turin Cathedral... 

On the evening of May 28, Pia returned for a second session at about 9:30pm and took a few more exposures. Based on his experience of May 25, he varied the exposure times and the lighting. At around midnight, the three men went back to develop the plates. Pia later said that he almost dropped and broke the photographic plate in the darkroom from the shock of what appeared on it: the reverse plate showed the image of a man and a face that could not be seen with the naked eye.

They say the left-hand side image is a negative as seen on the shroud, and the right-hand side image is a positive as taken on a film, though it must be ordinarily called a "negative." So, they say that what is on the shroud is a negative and thus the shroud worked as a film to the person laying under it.


Yet, I think the image on the shroud is a positive and the image on the film taken by the Italian cameraman 100 years ago is a negative as it ought to be.


Look at the above two pictures.  The left-hand side picture looks more like a living man but the right-hand side one looks too horrible as it must be a negative.


And, they found the shroud material was made around 1300 apart from exact authenticity of the radioactive carbon dating test.


With the two thing, the image on the shroud must be in theory a negative and the shroud material was made around 1300, one hypothesis is possible: There is the true and original holy shroud elsewhere which has a negative image.


Specifically, the true shroud must have been covered with this shroud or the linen cloth now called the shroud of Turin.  Think of how they wrapped the original shroud.  In order for the shroud not to touch, contact, or overlap itself when it was folded or wrapped, another sheet of linen cloth must be put on it tightly.  Yes, on the real and true holy shroud, another linen cloth must be placed tightly so that no touching of its part with other part could be prevented.


Therefore, as the original and true holy shroud had a negative image, the added linen cloth took a negative image of it, namely a positive of the original image of the person who had been under the true holy shroud.


So, the Shroud of Turin is a miracle copy of the true one created through its direct, coherent, and probably pressed contact with the true one.  And it was made around 1300.  But why around 1300?

She is reported to have discovered the nails of the Passion, the Cross, and the tunic that she donates to the town of Trier. The narrative of her quest, is written by Eusebius of Caesarea (265-340) in his book 'Ecclesiastical History'


In 544 AD, in the city of Edessa, a folded burial cloth bearing an image, believed to be of Jesus, was found above a gate in the city's walls. We know from various history sources that the cloth was a burial shroud with a faint full-body image of Jesus and bloodstains positioned on the image...

On August 15, 944 AD, the Image of Edessa was forcibly transferred from Edessa to the Byzantine capital city of Constantinople. It clearly was a burial cloth with a full image and bloodstains...


Illustrations in an 1192 codex, known as the Hungarian Pray Manuscript, show Jesus being prepared for burial and the scene of the empty tomb. The drawing depicts several features consistent with the Shroud of Turin: the unique herringbone twill, a specific pattern of burn holes that antedate the much later fire in 1532 which nearly destroyed the Shroud, Jesus depicted naked with his hands crossed before him, hands with no visible thumbs.


In 1204, French and Venetian knights of the Fourth Crusade besieged the city
Constantinople and on April 13 entered and looted the city. The Edessa Image certainly seems to have been among the treasures taken by the looters.

Between the French crusaders' attacking Constantinople and the shroud's appearance in Lirey, France, the true shroud must have been covered with a linen cloth matching its size so tightly and directly.  The original image must have been naturally copied to this attached linen cloth.  And, a French crusader took it to his home town in France.  He must have known that it was a copy, though mysterious one.  That is why he did not advertise the circumstances in which the linen cloth had come into his hand.  Even he must not have been sure about its authenticity for himself.


Then, where is the original and true holy shroud?  From the above timeline, we may assume it is in Greece.

Mount Athos (Greek pronunciation: [ˈaθos]) is a mountain and peninsula in Macedonia, Greece. A World Heritage Site, it is home to 20 Eastern Orthodox monasteries and forms a self-governed monastic state within the sovereignty of the Hellenic Republic. Spiritually, Mount Athos comes under the direct jurisdiction of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople...

The chroniclers Theophanes the Confessor (end of 8th century) and Georgios Kedrenos (11th century) wrote that the 726 eruption of the Thera volcano was visible from Mount Athos, proving that it was inhabited at the time. The historian Genesios recorded that monks from Athos participated at the 7th Ecumenical Council of Nicaea of 787. Around 860, the famous monk Efthymios the Younger came to Athos and a number of monk-huts ("skete of Saint Basil") were created around his habitation, possibly near Krya Near. During the reign of emperor Basil I the Macedonian, the former Archbishop of Crete (and later of Thessaloniki) Basil the Confessor built a small monastery at the place of the modern harbour ("arsanas") of Hilandariou Monastery. Soon after this, a document of 883 states that a certain Ioannis Kolovos built a monastery at Megali Vigla. 

On a chrysobull of emperor Basil I, dated 885, the Holy Mountain is proclaimed a place of monks, and no laymen or farmers or cattle-breeders are allowed to be settled there... 

The Fourth Crusade in the 13th century brought new Roman Catholic overlords which forced the monks to complain and ask for the intervention of Pope Innocent III, until the restoration of the Byzantine Empire came. The peninsula was raided by Catalan mercenaries in the 14th century, a century that also saw the theological conflict over the hesychasm practised on Mount Athos and defended by Gregory Palamas. 

The Byzantine Empire was conquered in the 15th century and the newly established Islamic Ottoman Empire took its place. The Athonite monks tried to maintain good relations with the Ottoman Sultans and therefore when Murad II conquered Thessaloniki in 1430 they immediately pledged allegiance to him. In return, Murad recognized the monasteries' properties, something which Mehmed II formally ratified after the fall of Constantinople in 1453. In this way the Athonite independence was somewhat guaranteed.

Some radio transmission or electromagnetic waves in the air is said t be effected by a large scale change or movement of rock and soil, if so subtle, under the ground or the seabed months, weeks, or days before real occurrence of a big earthquake..

So, it can happen again, another 3/11-class large earthquake in the Northwest Pacific Ocean off Honsyu Island of Japan.

It is natural that the US has to suffer big unemployment, since its deficits in trade with China is so huge.

Not many US manufacturers are needed in America as US supply chains import goods to sell to consumers from China.

Many of the thorny issues in the bilateral relationship between these two countries can be traced to the evolution of the rising bilateral U.S. trade deficit with China. This deficit rose from about $84 billion in 2000 to nearly $227 billion in 2009 (about 1.6 percent of U.S. GDP).  In 2009, the deficit with China amounted to nearly two-thirds of the overall U.S. trade deficit of $365 billion, compared to about one-third in 2008 (see Figure 2).

While the US economy was supported by false credit systems, including subprime mortgage schemes, American consumers could buy many commodities, necessary or unnecessary, and many American workers were employed in various service sectors relying on huge consumption of American citizens.

With this false credit power being taken away, the US economy is no more supported by huge consumption, including sales of homes, and thus it cannot offer many working places to ordinary or poor Americans.

Yet, Japan has exported to China more than the US exported to China, since there are 28,000 Japanese businesses operating in China.

China, in 1970s, 1980s, and probably even in 1990s,  did not even teach children that Americans landed on the moon in the late 1960s.

In China, standardized tests are seen as the only way to guarantee meritocracy and ensure fairness. 

China has a long history of standardized tests, beginning with the ancient imperial exams initiated during the Sui Dynasty. 

Chinese students are taught that all questions have but one right answer and there is little room for debate. 

Chinese students develop what appears to many Westerners to be a shocking capacity for memorization. 

In China, there is an increasing desire to make education more American. The lack of creativity in education will soon prove a major stumbling block in her development. 

Chinese students achieve near perfect scores on Western standardized exams. But when go abroad, they find themselves ill prepared for the education. 

Government and business leaders worry about a derivative, manufacturing-based economy that is unable to innovate core technology and lags far behind in creative sectors. 

Passing trivial problems up the management hierarchy is simply impossible in a sophisticated post-industrial society. 

Assumed skills such as in-class participation, seminar presentations and individual research projects, common practice in elementary schools in North America, are largely unheard of in the Chinese classroom — even in most universities. 

If North Americans are to pick up the math and science skills common amongst Chinese, or if Chinese are to develop the creativity of North Americans, it is not enough to implement change in the classroom. It is the culture at large that needs to be transformed.

Chinese people are not taught ethics, religion, or social morals.

The worst combination of egotism, nihilism and materialism of the bad Chinese tradition and  Marxism has resulted in deep evil in the minds of some or many Chinese in an alarming scale, since China has more than one billion population.

The Guardian team estimate that more than 4,000 young Chinese are in effect enslaved in the brothel system in Britain. 

What is really alarming about this story is that the team went to Fuijan (which, they point out, is actually one of the wealthier provinces in China) to find - utter indifference. The only thing of interest to the locals was money... 

Constantly we are told that the Chinese are wonderful immigrants, industrious and enterprising. And these Chinese racketeers in the U.K. are certainly both! But one has to ask: if they treat peoplefrom their own province like this, how can they be expected to treat the rest of us, given the chance? 

The evidence is, as the recent milk powder scandal is also showing, Chinese culture is morally flawed, and living with too many of them is going to be a problem.

The Democratic Party of the US is not so pro-Japanese but somehow dangerously pro-Chinese.

The big factor of the US unemployment is not Japan but China.  However, as the Obama Administration is somewhat pro-Chinese, it cannot solve the US unemployment problem.  Instead, the Democratic Party is thinking how to increase American export to Japan but not to China.  In this context, TPP or the Trans-Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership Agreement is not so desirable.

(TPP is designed to enrich Wall Street more but not Occupy Wall Street protesters.)

Yet, strangely Russia expects Japan to join TPP while China does not like to see Japan joining it.

It is a little complicated, but we had better refer to NAFTA which has simply accelerated deterioration of the Mexican society with full of gangsters on its border to the US.

The US should not launch any such trade scheme.  The US should not try to use foreign countries to  solve its problems such as unemployment.  The US should simply promote democracy more domestically, so that every participant in Occupy Wall Street will be satisfied.  The US should concentrate on its domestic market.  Think of that, even 99% of rich Chinese want to leave their country and live in America or so on.

If President Mr. Barack Obama cannot change the biased policy of the Democratic Party, it is better for Japan to deal with a different president of the US.
