Global Food Balance
The global state of import and export of foods is as follows as of 2003:

The total amount of import of foods in Japan, China, South East Asia, and Africa is 196.18 million tons.
The total amount of export of foods from the US, Australia, and Brazil is 190.96 million tons.
There is a balance between total import and total export in above figures.
If this balance is lost, Russia might make up for it to a certain degree, but other European countries than EU members might further rely on Russia in their acquisition of foods.
Now CO2 is causing global warming, but it is not a primary source of heat. In winter when the sun, the major source of heat, provides less energy on the half part of the earth at issue, CO2 cannot provide heat to the winter part.
Put extremely, the mechanism causing global cooling or a mini ice age has almost nothing or little to do with concentration of CO2. The earth gets into the phase of global cooling with or without CO2 At least, till CO2 becomes extremely abundant in the air over a certain degree, it will not stop the effect of global cooling caused by other factors of the earth.
So, the winter becomes cooler while the summer is hot due to higher concentration of CO2 in the air. The world seems to be in this state now.
The point at issue is that the progress of hidden global cooling, if any, might cause more unstable condition of the climate. It might result in a great famine and a huge shortage of foods.
So far as now, we have to only hope that the US, Australia, and Brazil can cope with this climate crisis.
The Pacific Ocean has a warm temperature mode and a cool temperature mode, and in the past century, has switched back forth between these two modes every 25-30 years (known as the Pacific Decadal Oscillation or PDO). In 1977 the Pacific abruptly shifted from its cool mode (where it had been since about 1945) into its warm mode, and this initiated global warming from 1977 to 1998. The correlation between the PDO and global climate is well established. The announcement by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory that the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO) had shifted to its cool phase is right on schedule as predicted by past climate and PDO changes (Easterbrook, 2001, 2006, 2007). The PDO typically lasts 25-30 years and assures North America of cool, wetter climates during its cool phases and warmer, drier climates during its warm phases. The establishment of the cool PDO, together with similar cooling of the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO), virtually assures several decades of global cooling and the end of the past 30-year warm phase.
