MAX WEBER and Poor Americans

(On the artificial island in the middle of Tokyo Bay in August 2008)

MAX WEBER and Poor Americans

So, Ms. Caroline Kennedy chose Mr. Joe Biden for the whole Democrtaic Party, since he is a Catholic.

Indeed, I asked God the other day who would win the race.

Then, a Kenyan marathon runner won in Beijing.

What do you think about it, since you must like to announce the winner of the 2008 U.S. Presidential Election in three months?

But, why have so cloudy and rainy days continued around Tokyo these days, as the temperature dropped to 25 degrees Celsius even in midday, though I am much relieved?

(Yes, I think that the Chinese President visited South Korea yesterday, following a request from the U.S. President, to discuss North Korean issues, including Japanese citizens abducted by North Korean Government's secret agents in these decades...)

SECTION I: MAX WEBER

Even in Japan, some people like to refer to Max Weber (21 April 1864 – 14 June 1920) when they want to be respected while discussing something.

Poor Americans, nonetheless, should check Max Weber, too, since his work has become part of justification of the American Material Dream which has virtually fooled so many poor Americans now suffering from the subprime loan problem.

--------------------------------------------
Weber's essay The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism (Die protestantische Ethik und der Geist des Kapitalismus) is his most famous work.[12] It is argued that this work should not be viewed as a detailed study of Protestantism, but rather as an introduction into Weber's later works, especially his studies of interaction between various religious ideas and economic behaviour….

According to Weber, one of the universal tendencies that those individuals had to fight was the desire to profit. After defining the spirit of capitalism, Weber argues that there are many reasons to look for its origins in the religious ideas of the Reformation….

Weber showed that certain types of Protestantism – notably Calvinism – favoured rational pursuit of economic gain and worldly activities which had been given positive spiritual and moral meaning.[22] It was not the goal of those religious ideas, but rather a byproduct – the inherent logic of those doctrines and the advice based upon them both directly and indirectly encouraged planning and self-denial in the pursuit of economic gain….

The phrase "work ethic" used in modern commentary is a derivative of the "Protestant ethic" discussed by Weber. It was adopted when the idea of the Protestant ethic was generalised to apply to Japanese people, Jews and other non-Christians….

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Weber
--------------------------------------------

Of course, Max Weber is not so helpful for poor Americans so suffering being surrounded by so much wealth of others.

It is because Max Weber did not mention specific and daily "desire" and "evil" of capitalists.

It is just like Karl Marx did not mention specific and daily "desire" and "evil" of communists.

If they can do away with their human “desire” and “evil,” capitalists will be good for poor people.

If they can do away with their human “desire” and “evil,” even communists will be good for poor people.

(Indeed, religious "desire" and "evil" is the last and first challenge mankind must tackle and must have with Jesus Christ in between.)

SECTION II: MAX WEBER and Japan

Max Weber also could not understand Japan and Japanese religions.

Before the notable era of national isolation of Japan between 1630 and 1860, there was a period of time Japanese had been actively engaged in overseas adventures including the wars with China and Korea.

Since ships from Portugal, Spain, and Dutch reached Japan around 1550, many Japanese citizens, merchants, and samurais willingly ventured out to South East Asia where trade and business were buoyed by deployment and colonization by Western nations.

Only when Christianity spread so widely and strongly inside Japan, the then Japanese samurai regime decided to close the door of the nations so as to exterminate the momentum and eradicate the influence of Christianity in the Japanese society.

However, Max Weber thought it was an inherent nature of Asian religions to have a nation close the door and hold a negative view on the wider world.

Max Weber was wrong in this context.

SECTION III: MAX WEBER and America

Max Weber travelled the U.S. around 1904 when the International Exposition was held in Saint Louis.

He studied various aspects of the American society with a focus on Christianity.

He was mostly impressed with how Christianity worked as moral standards among the American public in accepting business people.

But, he thought that the issue of African Americans must become the most significant one in the coming ages, for he actually observed how African Americans were struggling in their desparate efforts to have access to reasonable education.

So, the underling challenges in the American society were identified by Max Weber as (i) Christianity as ethical standards in the business-oriented American society and (ii) African Americans in the Era after Emancipation of Slaves.

It is apparent that Mr. George W. Bush is based on, and oriented to the paradigm (i), and Mr. Barack Obama on and to the paradigm (ii).

Yet, Mr. John McCain looks more fundamental in terms of the Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism.

Nonetheless, any of them cannot win and maintain higher social status without a help from super rich people who are living on the post Max-Weber paradigm as they often look like being engulfed by desire and evil of huge wealth and power.

*********************************************************************

When Max Weber visited the United States, namely in 1904, the Japanese-Russo War broke out.

As the Empire of Japan won the war while China and India were so helpless and incompetent facing Western powers, there occurred a paradigm change among Asians including Arabs and Muslims, leading to their independence half a century later.

Even after WWII, as Japan has become the second largest economy in the world, much of Max Weber’s work turns to look like effective only in analyzing the European/American Civilization but not so universal.

Consequently, today nobody is startled to see economic success of China and India as their rises don't look like a miracle at all.

In this context, Japan can supersede the great thinking of Max Weber; yet there is one unique American issue Japan cannot be involved in: the race issue around African Americans.

The rise of Hispanics will not solve the issue, since it is just accumulating another burden on unstable foundation yet to be fixed in the American Christian society.

Truly, the tragedy is that many African Americans, except Mr. Obama and the likes of him, look like being discouraged even to check the Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism.

Luk 8:26 And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee.

Luk 8:27 And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs.

Luk 8:28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not.

Luk 8:29 (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.)

Luk 8:30 And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him.

Luk 8:31 And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep.

Luk 8:32 And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them.

Luk 8:33 Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked.

FACES and FACES of BEIJING OLYMPICS

(Around the Tokyo Bay)

FACES and FACES of BEIJING OLYMPICS

Yesterday, I left my home before the noon and came back before 6 p.m. quickly to send a postal card. Then later I checked pictures I took in the Tokyo Bay.

Of course, until around 11 p.m., I watched the closing ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games broadcast live.

And, this Monday morning, Japanese media are celebrating the success of the Olympics held by the Chinese Communist Party who would not fully cooperate with Japan to force North Korea to release Japanese citizens abducted by North Korean secret agents in these decades.

Were Japanese citizens abducted by North Korean secret agents enjoying in Pyongyang the TV broadcasting from Beijing? If not, any Japanese should not praise the Beijing Olympics at all so long as they love Japan at all.

SECTION I: Ex-Toyota Man Won Men’s Olympic Marathon

The New York Times introduced the winner Mr. Samuel Kamau Wanjiru.

---------------------------------------------------
By LYNN ZINSER
Published: August 23, 2008

BEIJING — As the heat intensified during the men’s Olympic marathon Sunday morning, the field hung on the hope that Sammy Wanjiru of Kenya could not possibly keep up the blistering pace he helped set from the race’s very first steps….. He pulled away from his final challenger ….not just winning Kenya’s first gold medal in the marathon but shattering the Olympic record in 2 hours 6 minutes 32 seconds.

…Wanjiru has trained mainly in Japan since 2002, attending high school there.

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/24/sports/olympics/24marathon.html?_r=1&scp=2&sq=marathon&st=cse&oref=slogin
---------------------------------------------------

After graduation from a high school in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, Mr. Wanjiru was employed by a subsidiary company of Toyota where the Japanese marathon silver medalist in 1992 Barcelona Olympic games has been working as a coach for the company’s athletic sports club.

This July Mr. Wanjiru decided to leave the Toyota’s subsidiary company.

Mr. Barack Obama, whose father is a Kenyan, has to still run in the U.S. Presidential Election race; but the Kenyan Mr. Wanjiru has already won, expressing his gratitude immediately after the race at Beijing to Japanese coaches and teachers who gave him precious lessons not only about running skills but also on a mind set.

This is another Miracle in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, since this last sport event in the Olympics involves a Kenyan hero and Japanese supporters, while a son of a Kenyan is now running for the U.S. Presidential Election.

SECTION II: Fireworks and Suspension in Midair

Chinese leaders do not understand what the Olympics mean.

Their presentation at the opening and closing ceremonies looked like nothing but entertainment with fireworks and suspension shows in midair.

As a matter of fact, Mr. Jackie Chan, a notable Hong Kong action film star, made appearance for the closing ceremony in the Beijing Olympics stadium, singing something with other Asian entertainers.

The leaders of China must have wanted to present hundreds of “Jackie Chan” in the Olympics ceremonies, as their only idea was to adopt action movies featuring Mr. Jackie Chan.

Consequently, without fireworks and suspension shows in midair, nothing was there in the ceremonies except massed calisthenics only a despotic state can mobilize.

SECTION III: Whole Lotta Unsuitableness

But worse might be the Britain’s show in the closing ceremony, advertising the 2012 Olympics in London. But, how is the song “Whole Lotta Love” of Led Zeppelin relevant to the Olympics? A two-story bus or a Double Decker is now a symbol of the 2005 Terror in London, isn’t it? As they deny the entry of the Baseball and the Softball in the London Olympics, it was not pleasant to see a British soccer hero on the bus as part of the presentation in the closing ceremony in Beijing.

British ordinary and poor citizens must realize their leaders have been wrong since the tragic death of Princess Diana at Paris in 1997. They have to take control even over the London 2012 Olympics.

SECTION IV: Old Chinese about to be Sent to a Labor Camp

Ms. Yoshiko Sakurai, a notable Japanese journalist, joined a TV discussion program broadcast live in Japan on the Sunday morning.

I watched the program, while the men’s marathon race was being competed in on the streets of Beijing.

She said that two old Chinese, both almost 80 years old, had protested against enforced evacuation for making space for Olympic facilities in Beijing. They filed objections five times; Being appalled, then they were arrested by the police who decided to send them to a labor camp as part of punishment, though they were finally released.

It is estimated that there are millions of poor Chinese who are living under such a threat in big cities and villages in China, including those living in Tibet and The Uighur Autonomous Region.

SECTION V: The Olympics and Christianity

Christianity has nothing to do with the Olympics, since Jesus Christ never mentioned this Greek tradition.

------------------------------------------------------------------
The games carried on, even as Greece's power declined Rome's rose. Although the Olympics continued to enjoy a measure of prestige, the varying political and economic changes of the Hellenistic and Roman periods affected both the site and the games. Some later Roman emperors, who admired Greek culture, revived the splendor of the games and restored the site and buildings.

By the 3rd century A.D., however, the lists of victors are increasingly uncertain and incomplete; by the end of the century the lists stop altogether. Once the Roman emperors formally adopted Christianity, they discouraged and eventually, outlawed, old "pagan" religious practices. Since the Olympic games were first and foremost a religious celebration in honor of Zeus, they held no place in the Christian empire. The emperor Theodosius I legally abolished the games in 393 or 394 A.D.

http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/Olympics/faq11.html
------------------------------------------------------------------

It is quite right that the Vatican neglects the Olympics and never sends athletes to the event.

***********************************************************************

As long as mankind is enjoying the Olympics, I am afraid that the Messiah would not come back to the world.

The Olympics in ancient Rome produced many mad men like Emperor Nero who sacrificed so many followers of Jesus Christ.

The Olympics today are producing so many victims behind the scene, say, in Tibet, The Uighur Autonomous Region, and Georgia as well as Japanese abductees by North Korea, though Tokyo is willing to host it in 2016.

At least, we have to rename it as "the Kenyans (Japanese)," since the latest and greatest glory is on the Kenyan marathon runner educated in Japan.

Or will the Vatican agree to call it "Jerusalem" or "Armageddon?"

Miracles in Beijing and Energy Crisis

Miracles in Beijing and Energy Crisis

It was cool this morning around Tokyo.

The temperature was around 75 degrees Fahrenheit.

Weather forecast in the TV news program is really important, since it shows expected temperatures all over Japan.

SECTION I: ANOTHER MIRACLE IN BEIJING

Following the women’s marathon race, the miracle also happened in the men’s 400-meter relay in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

In this race, Britain got the gold medal, America got the silver medal, and Nigeria got the bronze medal at the Athens Olympics race in 2004.

But, they have all failed at baton pass before the final race this time.

The Japanese 400-meter relay team was No.4 in 2004, but got the bronze medal yesterday in Beijing.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26346599

The probability of the incident that all the three former medal-winning teams fail in baton pass before the final race must be very small, probably one in 100,000.

Jamaica and Brazil were apparently blessed.

Yet, it looks like the God gave a chance to the Japanese 400-meter relay team, since He disqualified the U.S. and the U.K. as well as their African friend Nigeria.

It is the first Olympic medal for Japan in track events since it got one 80 years ago.

SECTION II: Solution to Energy Crisis

There are still arguments going on about the true factor for high oil prices.

Yet, it is the U.S. Government that can most effectively carry out the War on High Crude Oil Prices.

-------------------------
Wind Power an Important Part of the Solution to the Energy Crisis
(Tex. Dem. Candidate Michael Skelly)
August 22nd, 2008

Two years ago, under the auspices of the American Wind Energy Association, a group of us from the wind industry began working with the Department of Energy, General Electric, AEP, and many others to take a hard look at what it would take to get 20% of America’s electric supply from wind energy. The resulting report is helping lay the groundwork for a dramatic change in our approach to energy. For years, the wind energy community has argued that smart investment in transmission, siting, manufacturing and technology could allow wind power to take the main stage for our nation’s electricity. The report largely vindicates that belief, outlines the benefits, and illuminates the path to get there.

These past months have underscored the serious shortcomings in U.S. energy policy. $140 oil, $4 gasoline and run-ups in the cost of coal and natural gas are taking us to new price plateaus. Energy cuts across nearly every issue that matters to our daily lives — economic well-being, national security, global climate change. As our energy woes devolve from concern to crisis, it is time we look more seriously — and honestly — for answers.

Renewables alone will not solve this crisis. Those of us with years in the industry know both the promise and limitations of renewable energy, and readily acknowledge that we don’t have all the answers. But renewables can make an enormous dent in the problem. According to our report, a move to twenty percent wind would decrease carbon emissions from electricity by twenty-five percent. Twenty percent wind would support about 500,000 jobs in the U.S., 150,000 of which would come directly from the wind industry. Revenues to local communities in the form of property taxes and other payments would run more than $1.5 billion annually. Twenty percent wind would significantly reduce demand for natural gas, our most versatile and cleanest-burning fuel, which is incredibly valuable for heating, petrochemical production, transportation and other uses.

All of these things can be achieved.

Similar investment in solar power could mean an additional 10% of our energy could be supplied by the sun. And long term investment in increased energy efficiency, including cars that can be powered by electricity, will mean a substantial reduction in our dependence on foreign oil.

What will be required is a national commitment on the part of elected leaders and substantial investment by the business community. There are certainly constraints to our ability to multiply our wind farms at such a serious rate, but, as the study suggests, these obstacles can be overcome. Chief among them is the need for significant new energy infrastructure, especially extensive transmission lines.

We have reached a turning point. Wind energy is no longer the pet project of environmentalists. It is a serious business with serious players, including General Electric, Mitsubishi, Siemens, and many other global titans. It is also part of a real answer to some of the most serious problems we face. If we combine our efforts to expand renewables with strong efficiency standards and a substantial increase in conventional domestic energy production, we can be within reach of solving our energy crisis.

This is not the kind of quick fix that Washington so often hopes for while doing nothing in the interim. There are no quick fixes. If we are going to confront our energy crisis successfully, we have to be focused on the long game. In ten years we were able to take our wind energy company from a two-man operation to the multi-billion dollar business it is today. In a similar time period Texas has seen wind grow to the point where we get nearly 5% of our electricity from the wind. We can get a lot done when we set our minds to the task. A national commitment today will mean economic growth, good jobs, a safer country, and a healthier planet. It’s time to get moving.

President Mr. George W. Bush should declare the War on High Crude Oil Prices.

Mr. McCain and Mr. Obama should officially promise to launch the War on High Crude Oil Prices.

Their announcement will put a great price pressure on the oil market and Wall Street.

Two Morning Glories in the Midsummer

(August Dusk of Japan)

Two Morning Glories in the Midsummer

The other day a Japanese TV animation program for children presented the following story:

A schoolgirl in the lower grade of an elementary school found one day a morning glory flower (Asagao in Japanese), though it was still in a state of a seedling.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morning_glory

A single seeding of the plant obscurely grew near a wooden wall of a house beside an empty plot without anybody to take care of it.

The girl, named Maruko, was impressed with the noble effort of the morning glory trying to fully grow and blossom while being unnoticed by any residents, though the summer sun rays and heat were apparently about to blight the young plant at the forgotten corner of the small town.

So, Maruko decided to put water on the young plant after joining the radio gymnastics practice held each morning officially as part of education for primary schoolchildren in the district during the summer recess of school.

Her friend, Tomo-chan, also joined Maruko to water the young and helpless plant in the evening, too. They also drove a small bar into the ground near the young seedling, so that it could support its body as it grew.

But, one day, Tomo-chan went out with her family for summer vacation, leaving Maruko alone to pour water on the morning glory now putting out a bud.

As the early-morning collective gymnastics practice was officially ended as scheduled, Maruko started to become less dedicated to visiting the summer plant every morning and even evening alone to attend it; she actually forgot to go and bring a canteen with water inside to the plot one morning and two evenings while the poor morning glory was bathing the strong sun ray.

One day, Tomo-chan called Maruko from a summer resort to ask how the morning glory was growing, which reminded Maruko of her precious volunteer work.

Ashamedlyshe played dumb with the good friend Tomo-chan; Yet, soon after the telephone call, Maruko ran to the vacant lot only to find the forgotten plant was losing strength with a few weakened buds.

Maruko being guilt-ridden started again to fervently water the morning glory in peril of running dry, which however looked so vain.

A few days after Maruko’s repentance, one morning on her way to the empty plot with a few canteens with full of water she was so surprised to encounter Tomo-chan who came back from the summer vacation overnight and could not wait for her scheduled evening service to the beloved plant.

Tomo-chan asked Maruko how the morning glory grew up and blossomed.

Maruko could not tell her friend that it looked still flaccid, though she eventually decided to honestly apologize to Tomo-chan for her selfish default.

But, as they reached the place while talking, the morning glory was standing there around the bar and looking so fresh and strong with its buds coming into flower.

They were all pale blue, though shining so brightly in the morning sunbeams of the summer as the two schoolgirls pouring water without the least regret onto the revived morning glory.

* * *

The other day I bought a book written by a Japanese author who traveled the Middle East in 1960’s. He was virtually following the path St. Paul had preached the gospel along 2,000 years ago, though the Japanese solitary traveler was not a Christian at all then.

One day on his sight-seeing trip to and from Damascus, he took a rest with an Arab driver and guide at a small eating house near a ruined arena theater probably built by the Romans on the Aqaba route.

http://www.saudiaramcoworld.com/issue/200401/guardians.of.the.pilgrim.wells-damascus.to.aqaba.htm

He strolled to the forgotten arena theater half covered by sand to find one morning glory. It looked like a miracle that a dark blue morning glory was blossoming in the ruin surrounded by a desert.

It was amazing, since there was nothing else all around that was so alive.

The single-stem small flower expressing itself so elegantly from a limited gap between dry stones of the ancient building impressed him so vibrantly.

Then he decided to visit Tarsus, since the lonesome but noble morning glory reminded him of St. Paul clearly for a mysterious reason.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarsus_(city)

At Tarsus, he found that the glorious port city was no more on the Mediterranean. A river deposited layers of mud and dirt so widely during past 2,000 years, so that Tarsus was situated 12 or 13 miles inland from the coast line. The biblically notable city was no more than a humble local town with humble Muslim residents in late 1960's.

Tarsus is now part of Turkey. But it was a Greco-Roman city when St. Paul was born there. Even before St. Paul engaged in his holy mission or 70 years before the time of St. Paul, the then prosperous city had flamed with the famous romance between Mark Antony and Cleopatra who had sailed from Egypt staking the fortunes as the queen of Egypt or the mother of a Caesar's son.

Indeed, the dark blue morning glory showing up in the ruin in the middle of the desert reminded the Japanese traveler of St. Paul and then Cleopatra.

He also called the Queen of Sheba to his mind, as his thought on ancient glory of Palestine and the east part of the Mediterranean got deepened.

Truly after his following the trails of St. Paul in 1960's, the Japanese author became a virtual Christian.

http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E7%A5%9E%E3%81%AE%E6%97%85%E4%BA%BA-%E8%81%96%E3%83%91%E3%82%A6%E3%83%AD%E3%81%AE%E9%81%93%E3%82%92%E8%A1%8C%E3%81%8F-PHP%E6%96%87%E5%BA%AB-%E6%A3%AE%E6%9C%AC-%E5%93%B2%E9%83%8E/dp/4569665462

* * *

Yet, what impressed me is not St. Paul, Cleopatra, or the Queen of Sheba the morning glory invoked in the mind of the Japanese traveler.

It was his description about how decent and pleasant Turks he met at Tarsus were.

Though the Japanese author could not speak their language, the manners of the local people to him deeply touched a string in his heart, since a friendly old man looked like asking him whether he was a Japanese or a Christian at a cafe in the town.

Usually, it is very rare for any well educated and disciplined or good-natured Japanese traveler to find or even be surprised to find a foreigner in a foreign country who has better manners than he or she has or any other respectable Japanese have.

Indeed, the way the author praised the manner in observing manners of some residents he met at Tarsus in 1960's is very extraordinary, even in my experiences of reading so much account by Japanese on local people all over the world.

The Japanese author wrote that Tarsus is a town from which we can clearly observe the world, since it is a feature of an ancient Greco city.

A Japanese Virtual Christian Full General

A Japanese Virtual Christian Full General

Nowadays, most of young Japanese do not know the name of the greatest Japanese military hero during WWII.

Indeed, no American historians must have ever realized Full General Imamura was virtually a Christian.

Truly, today, there must be millions of American citizens whose parent or grandparent did not experience WWII as a U.S. citizen.

SECTION I: Not Hypocritical But Rather Hierarchical

Protestants account for 51% of US citizens, while Catholics 24%; yet those believing no religions account for 16% in the US society, according to a survey recently conducted in the U.S. (as reported in a Japanese newspaper this morning).

In a Japanese way of thinking, it is ideal for any American to adopt good elements of both the Protestant teachings and the Catholic teaching to be loved by God.

In order to fight against religious criminals who are making money by selling knowledge and words of Christianity, you may be allowed to declare non-religious if so encouraged by the God’s Angels.

Even if an American proudly asserts that he or she is a Christian, while making money in connection with Wall Street and supporting a policy to make war without minding thousands of Arab and Afghan children being killed collaterally, I believe that Jesus Christ would deny it.

So, pious Americans must stop using an old title such as a Protestant or a Catholic but adopt a new title such as a “Follower of Jesus Christ,” which however needs a religious revolution to come true.

In my view, a hierarchy must be introduced in one’s religious identification: the follower of God or Allah with the cultural origin of Judaism, Christianity, or Islam in the worldly association with Jerusalem, the Vatican, protestant churches, or Sunni mosques or Shiite mosques.

And one should only refer to the highest state, namely “the follower of God or Allah,” when identifying his or her religion.

Ideally, it must be “the follower of God or Allah or any holy teaching by saints including Buddha.”

If you can be rich while your neighbor is poor, you cannot be a Judaist, a Christian, or a Muslim. If you identify with one, you cannot be all the more a Judaist, a Christian, or a Muslim.

Asking anybody about his religion is the rudest and most arrogant act. Otherwise, will you ask anybody how much money he has or how many times he has ever lied or bullied somebody?

SECTION II: Yasukuni Fallen Soldiers’ Shrine

Western media like to use the term "Yasukuni War Shrine."

But, the sad and silly fact is that now most of churches in the U.S. and the U.K. are "War Churches," since no churches in the U.S. and the U.K. are organizing demonstration in Washington D.C. and London with the slogan “Stop the War in Iraq and Afghanistan” just like “Stop the Vietnam War” decades ago.

The Empire of Japan before WWII was under the military threat which could be comparable with the 9/11 Terror-type threat on the United States in the early 21st century.

So, the Empire of Japan ventured into preemptive wars like the War on Terror by the U.S. in these years.

But, before the then Prime Minister Mr. Junichiro Koizumi went and paid his respect to fallen soldiers in past wars at Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo on August 15, 2005, only 50,000 or so Japanese citizens had visited the shrine on the very day which is nationally commemorated as the final day of WWII for Japan.

Yet, on August 15, 2005, along with the then Prime Minister Mr. Junichiro Koizumi, about 260,000 Japanese citizens went and paid their respect to fallen soldiers in past wars at Yasukuni Shrine.

This year it was reported that some 150,000 citizens visited the shrine on the day very peacefully.

Labeling Yasukuni Shrine a “War Shrine” is the real conspiracy by the Chinese Communist Party and the anti-Japan Western media, which the God Almighty would not condone in my humble view.

SECTION III: FULL GENERAL HITOSHI IMAMURA

There were many full generals in the Empire of Japan during and before WWII.

But, the most respected must be Full General of the Imperial Army Hitoshi Imamura.

English Wikipedia’s account on him seems contaminated by an anti-Japan conspiracy, so that you have to refer to Japanese Wikipedia’s account.

In English Wikipedia, they do not even mention that Full General Imamura was virtually a Christian.

They also made a mistake by writing "He was tried by an Australian military court at Rabaul on May 1-16, 1947; convicted, and sentenced to imprisonment for ten years. Imamura served his imprisonment at Sugamo Prison, in Tokyo, until he was released in 1954."

The fact is that after the surrender of the Imperial Army and Navy Full General Imamura was brought to a military court in Australia and started to serve the sentence in a prison in Tokyo in 1949, but in the next year he appealed to General of the Army Douglas MacArthur, the top of the Allied forces, for sending him to a prison in the Philippines where many of his former subordinates were serving war-criminal sentences.

Full General Imamura wanted to carry his responsibility to former officers and soldiers who had served him during the war by staying with them in the punitive prison in the Philippines instead of serving his own prison time in a relatively comfortable prison in Tokyo.

General of the Army MacArthur granted the petition directly issued by Full General Imamura, reportedly, through his wife.

Full General Imamura moved to the prison in the Philippines in 1950 so as to share pains and hardship with his former subordinates. Following the closure of the prison, he was sent back to the prison in Tokyo in 1953.

( http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E8%B2%AC%E4%BB%BB-%E3%83%A9%E3%83%90%E3%82%A6%E3%83%AB%E3%81%AE%E5%B0%86%E8%BB%8D%E4%BB%8A%E6%9D%91%E5%9D%87-%E3%81%A1%E3%81%8F%E3%81%BE%E6%96%87%E5%BA%AB-%E8%A7%92%E7%94%B0-%E6%88%BF%E5%AD%90/dp/4480421513 )

After he was released from the prison in 1954, he confined his life in a small cottage he built in his home so as to show his remorse for the tragedies and victims of the past war.

He published a memoir. The royalty of the book was given to wounded veterans and families of fallen soldiers. Whoever visited Full General Imamura identifying himself as a former subordinate and asking for financial aid could get any money from Full General Imamura.

Even when somebody who was actually not his former subordinate pretended to be a former subordinate and asked for financial aid, the poor liar could get any money from Full General Imamura, even if Full General Imamura could see the truth.

SECTION IV: Rabaul, Another Possible Iwojima

After the major battle of Rabaul around 1942 where hundreds or more fighter planes and bombers of the Empire of Japan were lost through fight against U.S. planes ten times more, Full General Imamura still kept about 100,000 ground soldiers and officers to defend military bases of the Imperial Navy and Army at Rabaul of New Britain Island, northeast of Australia.

http://yabu.269g.net/article/3081826.html

http://sky.geocities.yahoo.co.jp/gl/pf_tainan/comment/20080714/1216034674

Full General Imamura prepared for the full-scale landing of US and Australian troops on the Island.

He ordered to strengthen the military facilities, like Iwojima Island where 7,000 U.S. soldiers fell later, including total 450km underground cells, paths, and complex with full of weapons and ammunition.

As Iwojima was defended by 20,000 Japanese soldiers, Rabaul could have taken 35,000 U.S. and Australian soldiers, though the Allied forces wisely avoided the direct attack on Rabaul and decided to advance troops to the Central Pacific Ocean and further to the Philippines, Iwojima, and Okinawa.

http://www.pacificwrecks.com/history/rabaul/rabaul-end.html

In this sense, the formidable fortification of the Rabaul base commanded by Full General Imamura saved tens of thousands of the lives of Japanese, American, and Australian soldiers, since Full General Imamura never issued attack orders but had his troops wait patiently.

After the surrender of the Imperial Army and Navy on August 15, 1945, 500 officers and soldiers among 100,000 Japanese troops stationed at Rabaul were arrested as war criminals and brought to military courts.

Among 500 indicted, 145 Japanese officers and soldiers were executed to death, though as there had been no invasion by U.S. and Australian troops there could not be any war crimes at all at Rabaul.

That is all for today.

Tonight, the late-night TV news program in Japan might also report that Mr. McCain has started to muster more support than Mr. Obama.

(Accordingly the song for today:
http://www.fukuchan.ac/music/j-senzen/rabaurukouta.html )

2Co 8:21 Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.

2Co 8:22 And we have sent with them our brother, whom we have oftentimes proved diligent in many things, but now much more diligent, upon the great confidence which I have in you.

2Co 8:23 Whether any do enquire of Titus, he is my partner and fellow helper concerning you: or our brethren be enquired of, they are the messengers of the churches, and the glory of Christ.

2Co 8:24 Wherefore shew ye to them, and before the churches, the proof of your love, and of our boasting on your behalf.

TOKYO IMPERAIL HOTEL

TOKYO IMPERIAL HOTEL

Yesterday in Beijing, an African British runner defeated an African American runner in the women’s 400 meter final race.

Since the Roman Empire’s Army left Great Britain in the 5th century, I suppose a true heroine has at last appeared among residents in the island.

The residents of Great Britain must start to think to have a new royal house of an African origin, since dynasties have changed so often in England and the U.S. has now an African American Presidential candidate.

But, remember unlike the case of Great Britain where pre-Celtic and pre-Roman inhabitants vanished very long time ago, the Japanese people still today comprise the earliest inhabitants of the Japanese Islands, since the last Ice Age did not crucially cover Japan and no ancient Chinese troops ever occupied the Japanese Islands like the Romans occupied most of Great Britain.

The Japanese consist of a variety of sub-races just like the British today consist of many African, Arab, South Asian, and Chinese citizens.

SECTION I: TOKYO IMPERIAL HOTEL

The other day, a small fire happened in a lumber room of Imperial Hotel located near the Imperial Palace of Tokyo.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperial_Hotel,_Tokyo

As I was reading a book a few weeks ago on Frank Lloyd Wright who designed the second-generation Tokyo Imperial Hotel which existed between 1923 and 1968, the fire at Tokyo Imperial Hotel looked somehow suggestive.

The small fire itself did not harm any guests and damage facilities gravely at all; but it is unthinkable that the number one hotel in Japan failed in their safety management, forcing some 500 guests to leave their rooms onto the street.

But, what looks more suggestive to me is that I have found a blog written by a senior Japanese businessman on his experiences around the Frank Lloyd Wright's Imperial Hotel decades ago.

SECTION II: Guiding Americans to Imperial Hotel

A Japanese businessman who seems to be living in Vancouver wrote on the news about the small fire at Tokyo Imperial Hotel.

The accident reminded him of a part-time job he had been engaged in during his student days in 1960’s in Tokyo: a guide for American tourists.

He and his senior student led rich American tourists from the Haneda Airport of Tokyo to Imperial Hotel built on design of Frank Lloyd Wright, one of the most prestigious architects in the U.S. history.

According to his blog, the rich American tourists in those days used only three hotels in Tokyo: Imperial Hotel, Hotel New Otani, or Hotel Okura.

The blog author wrote that among the three super hotels he had been the most impressed by the Imperial Hotel, not only because in Imperial Hotel he could smell some attractive fragrance he later found to be of cigars but also because Imperial Hotel gave him a lift so gorgeously.

More interestingly, one day he could not finish his part-time job at Imperial Hotel till late at night, so that he had to stay there. His senior friend found a room for him, the number of which was something like 357, namely the 57th room on the third floor.

But, he could not find the room 357, though he could easily spot the room 356 and 358.

After some desperate moments on a corridor, he finally found small steps toward an upper corner of the floor. Having taken the stairs, he faced the door numbered 357.

Even today he wants to use Room 357 and go up the stairs dedicated to the room.

Yet, as Imperial Hotel was wholly rebuilt in late 1960's, he could not fulfill his dream any more, since Frank Lloyd Wright’s Imperial Hotel of Tokyo was gone forever.

SECTION III: Frank Lloyd Wright

Every non-nonsense architect in the U.S. and the world knows the name Frank Lloyd Wright, admitting his great contribution to the building engineering.

However it is the Japanese tradition in the building engineering that made Frank Lloyd Wright the super architect.

Frank Lloyd Wright learnt much about the Japanese-style building. He was also well known for his collection of traditional Japanese pictures. He also made a fortune through transaction of traditional Japanese wood block prints mostly produced centuries before.

Yet, Frank Lloyd Wright did not reveal the secret to his great success in his autobiography, though many researchers pointed at clear evidences indicating the critical influence of the Japanese culture on his design and works of architecture.

Nonetheless, as the design of Room 357 told, Frank Lloyd Wright had a genius in design, since he enjoyed making layout like a small boy absorbed in assembling small wooden blocks with whatever primitive concepts on functions and ornament.

SECTION IV: Democracy and Imperialism

The Japanese businessman living in Vancouver also wrote in his blog about democracy and imperialism of the United Sates.

The U.S. has two faces: democracy to its people and imperialism to the world.

He considered this issue under the title "Circus and Bread" in 2004 when the Presidential Election was being held.

The U.S. Government needs to adopt imperialistic policies toward the world, so that it can make its people live in the affluent and democratic society.

Even Frank Lloyd Wright mostly exploited and partly abused the Japanese precious tradition in art and engineering to be the number one architect in the U.S. and enjoy an honorable and wealthy life.

Indeed, first-rate and super rich Americans are very imperialistic but ordinary citizens and poor consumers in the American democratic society must be good natured as the very experienced Japanese blogger reported.

Yet, African British women might be more good natured.

******************************************************************

That is all for today.

Some French soldiers were attacked and killed by the Taliban in Afghanistan recently.

EEE Reporter is always referred to by first-rate American and Chinese agents for their own personal profits, in my feeling.

Anyway, I may go to the seaside or a mountain area to observe the summer of 2008 at its summit this weekend, though not to Beijing.

Or I may drop in Imperial Hotel to confirm another Room 537 still being offered.

(A song for today:
http://www.fukuchan.ac/music/j-sengo1/furusatonohanashi.html )

Act 8:20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.

Act 8:21 Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.

Act 8:22 Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.

Act 8:23 For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.

Act 8:24 Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the LORD for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.

Act 8:25 And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.

Act 8:26 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.

In the Sea of People

In the Sea of People

Now everybody is wondering who Mr. Barack Obama and Mr. John McCain will choose as the Vice Presidential candidate, respectively, even if a Catholic or a Judaist is not chosen.

Yet, most of the Japanese media expect a general election to be held in Japan in December 2008 or January 2009, though I think it will be after the G8 Summit in 2009.

SECTION I: Goldfish Scooping

Last night, I saw something like a big goldfish on the TV screen which was however not a swimmer in the Beijing Olympic Games.

Yet, goldfish scooping is one of common games where participants, usually children, try to catch as many goldfish as possible with a small paper-pan-like tool in the summer for fun.

------------------------------------
Goldfish scooping (Kingyo-sukui) is a Japanese traditional game in which a player scoops goldfish with a special scooper. It is also called, "Scooping goldfish", "Dipping for goldfish" or "Snatching goldfish". "Kingyo" means goldfish and "sukui" means scooping.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goldfish_scooping
------------------------------------

Goldfish scooping is often hosted as part of entertainment business in a local festival around a Shinto shrine.

It is unique to Japan even today, though goldfish scooping is said to have started about 250 years ago.

SECTION II: JAPAN, PART OF CHINA?

Indeed there are many unique traditions, cultural aspects, industries, arts, and spiritual works and religions that can be only found and practiced in Japan.

However, some Japanese complain that Europeans and Americans they met thought that Japan was part of China.

“Our country, Japan, is not respected by Europeans and Americans. They are not interested in Japan at all. Japan is nothing! How foolish we are not to know Japan is nothing to them!”

Of course, how foolish are Europeans and Americans who still think that Japan is part of China.

Foolish Europeans and Americans do not know what country the second largest economy in the world is.

It also tells how poor the quality of the education in Europe and America is.

Yet, as the Japan has been the only great power established by a non-European race, some Europeans and Americans have tried to neglect or harm reputation of Japan.

Those evil-minded Western media, politicians, and scholars have tried to marginalize the great achievement of Japan and hide related facts from Western citizens as much as possible.

As some of Europeans and Americans have become so hostile to Japan, they are blindly praising China and India, while China is proudly doing every stupid trick at the Olympic Games and India cannot do anything to help Pakistan and prevent another possible 9/11 Terror.

If you live in Europe or America and find many who think that Japan is part of China, you must start to realize that your government is pursuing an obscurantist policy to make consumers and voters blindly docile.

SECTION III: "Prodigious Nation Japan"

Mr. Taro Aso is regarded as the most possible next Japanese prime minister even by so many national lawmakers of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party the incumbent Prime Minister Mr. Yasuo Fukuda belongs to.

Mr. Aso recently wrote a book on advantages of Japan: "Totetsumonai Nihon (Prodigious Nation Japan)."

It is a big hit, selling 170,000 copies. He pointed at various advantage and merits Japan has and tried to make Japanese readers feel hopeful about their future.

http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%81%A8%E3%81%A6%E3%81%A4%E3%82%82%E3%81%AA%E3%81%84%E6%97%A5%E6%9C%AC-%E6%96%B0%E6%BD%AE%E6%96%B0%E6%9B%B8-217-%E9%BA%BB%E7%94%9F-%E5%A4%AA%E9%83%8E/dp/410610217X

On the other hand, as Western media have attacked Japan and harmed reputation of Japan so much, some Japanese are sometimes about to lose their confidence in Japan.

In this context, Mr. Aso’s clam that Japan is a prodigious nation has its unique value.

He is anti-China, since China has joined with eagerness those malicious Western media to harm reputation of Japan.

Chinese leaders are worried that the advancement of friendly relationships between ordinary Japanese and Chinese would make Chinese citizens very pro-Japan and thus anti-Chinese Communist Party. This trend cannot be stopped, since Japan’s total trade with China has surpassed that with America. Many Chinese citizens are just pretending outwardly to hate Japan due to the past history, while respecting Japanese more than their own leaders.

It is because Chinese are feeling that Japan is truly a prodigious nation.

SECTION IV: Advice to An Unsuccessful Candidate

Mr. Taro Aso, the incumbent Secretary General of Japan's Liberal Democratic Party, first ran for national election in 1983 in vain.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taro_Aso

He garnered 80,000 votes which were however short by 2,678 votes to win the election.

A month after the election, Mr. Aso met one influential politician by chance in a Japanese-style restaurant in Tokyo. The senior politician took him to an empty room and asked how many votes Mr. Aso had obtained in the previous election.

Mr. Aso explained the situation and expressed his intention to wholly change his style and strategy for the next election.

But, the bossy politician said that it was stupid for Mr. Aso himself to deny all he had done so far simply because he had failed in the election.

All he had to do, the notorious lawmaker said, was to change what he had done in the ratio of 2,678/80,000, namely less than one thirtieth.

Understanding the lesson, Mr. Aso felt relieved. He was no more feeling down so as to work hard for the next election. He succeeded in the next chance and went to see the notable politician to extend greetings, but the then most influential politician in Japan could not remember the advice he had given to the emerging lawmaker a few years before, laughing and saying, "If so, even I can talk like a pundit."

The big-time politician who gave an effective advice to Mr. Aso, when he failed in his first national election, was Kakuei Tanaka, former Prime Minister of Japan between 1972 and 1974; unfortunately Kakuei Tanaka was arrested and indicted for the Lockheed bribery scandal in 1976.

Nonetheless, there is a Japanese proverb: The wise man can change his strategy at any moment and does a complete turnaround if necessary like when a panther moves into action.

Yet, if Kakuei Tanaka had not spotted the potential of Mr. Aso, the former prime minister would not have made Mr. Aso feel relieved by delivering a kind of impromptu joke, since what the late Mr. Tanaka wanted to do is giving an advice of whatever content. Tanaka's purpose must have been to impress Mr. Aso, then an unsuccessful candidate, as being a big boss even taking good care of a failed candidate with whatever plausible advice.

Indeed, Mr. Aso is a grandson of former Prime Minister of Japan Shigeru Yoshida, a very senior politician to Kakuei Tanaka, who was so aristocratic while Tanaka was so folksy.

****************************************************************

If a regime change occurs in Japan, from the Liberal Democratic Party-centric government to the Democratic Party of Japan-centric government, Japan’s 2000 year tradition will still condition the basic features of the Japanese society.

When those basic features are changed, Japan may face the same kind of crisis as the Roman Empire did when Christianity so widely spread in the Empire.

Or, it is as unthinkable as the U.S. will change its de-facto national religion from Christianity to something else.

But, as the end of the Vatican and the world is coming closer according to the prophecies of St. Malachy and Sir Newton, you cannot preclude any possibility.

Joh 21:9 As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread.

Joh 21:10 Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now caught.

Joh 21:11 Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken.

Joh 21:12 Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.

Joh 21:13 Jesus then cometh, and taketh bread, and giveth them, and fish likewise.

Joh 21:14 This is now the third time that Jesus shewed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead.

The Apocalyptic Women's Marathon at the 2008 Olympics

The Apocalyptic Women's Marathon at the 2008 Olympics

The women's marathon race in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games ended with surprises and shocks, while I was observing it from Japan.

http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/so20080818t1.html

Only several days before the race, Ms. Noguchi, the Japanese gold medalist in the marathon race at the 2004 Athens Games, announced her default due to injury at the upper leg she had found this July.

Yet, Ms. Kastor, the U.S. runner who won a bronze medal in Athens, too, also retired at the 5km point from the start due to bad conditions.

At the 25km point from the start, Ms. Tosa, a Japanese bronze medalist in the marathon race of World Championships in athletics in 2007, abandoned her race due to injury on her toe bone, leaving a young Japanese runner alone in the race who eventually finished the race as the 13th in the stadium.

It was also shocking to see Ms. Radcliffe of the U.K., the world record holder, stopping and walking to a fence to do some stretching and then slowly starting again to finish the marathon race as the 23rd.

More surprise must be that Ms. Catherine Ndereba who finished as the second to win the silver medal said after the race that she had not realized that Ms. Constantina Tomescu changed her pace at the 20km point to speed up and shake off the rest of runners, since Ms. Ndereba had been behind the top group and could not see Ms. Tomescu, though she had realized it when the goal, the National Stadium, was near.

So, the result is that the Japanese Olympic gold medalist in 2004 was hit by God just before the race;
the U.S. Olympic bronze medalist in 2004 was hit at 5km;
the Japanese bronze medalist of 2007 World Championship was hit at 25km;
the British fastest female marathon runner was hit similarly but completed the race somehow; and
the Kenyan Olympic silver medalist in 2004 was made blind to finish the race as the silver medalist again in 2008, though she might have caught up with Ms. Constantina Tomescu if Ms. Ndereba had realized the situation more quickly.

The winner in 2008 is Ms. Constantina Tomescu of Romania nobody had expected before the race to overwhelmingly win the women’s marathon at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

* * *

The main race of the Olympic Games is a marathon from a historical point of view.

The God must have caused some apocalyptic incidents as I have been so interesting in the race.

So, I have to analyze the race over again, since I woke up early on August 17 to see the live broadcast of the women’s marathon from Beijing.

* * *

From the beginning, Ms. Takahashi (born in 1972), the Japanese gold medalist in the 2000 Sydney Olympics, tried hard to join the race in Beijing, since she had failed to be qualified for the entry into the 2004 Athens Olympic Games due to her bad conditions.

She also failed in winning a women’s marathon race held in Japan this March to select the last female marathon runner of the Japanese female marathon team to be sent to Beijing.

But, Ms. Lidia Simon (born in 1973), the Romanian silver medalist in the 2000 Sydney Olympics, ran this race at Beijing to finish as the eighth.

Ms. Constantina Tomescu (born in 1970) is three or four years older than Ms. Simon.

In this context, Romania finally won Japan, taking eight years since the 2000 Sydney Olympics, since Ms. Takahashi failed this May and Ms. Noguchi (born in 1978) failed this July.

But, the God did not allow the U.S. and the U.K. to be more celebrated in Beijing, for some reasons.

It must be Romania, since the country name "Romania" means the nation of the Romans. The ancient Roman Empire is still honored there, though, just symbolically.

It must be so, because the Glory of the Olive in the Olympic marathon must be given to a nominal Roman so that St. Malachy's prophecy can be more clearly understood in terms of the inauguration of the current Pope in 2005 after the 2004 Athens Olympics.

* * *

I have some other facts that might have displeased God in terms of behaviors and movements, mostly related to commercialism in Japan, around the three Japanese female marathon runners who joined the Olympic race in Beijing.

Those who are around them may be wrong, too.

Anyway, consequently, Japan that won the women’s marathon gold medal in Sydney and Athens has completely failed in Beijing as the God so wished for some holy reasons that may be related to the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937 to 1945) causing death to millions of Chinese people.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Sino-Japanese_War

* * *

Nonetheless, we have to check "Bread and Circuses" in the Roman Empire.

-------------------------------------
... Already long ago, from when we sold our vote to no man,
the People have abdicated our duties; for the People who once upon a time
handed out military command, high civil office, legions - everything, now
restrains itself and anxiously hopes for just two things:
bread and circuses

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bread_and_circuses
-------------------------------------

It is so, because the U.S. is engaged in more dangerous military operation and potential crises with the EU, Russia, and Iran than China.

Dan 12:3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.

Dan 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

DANIEL 8:16 - 8:27

(Scenes in Japan on August 15, 2008)

DANIEL 8:16 - 8:27

"And the vision of the evening and the morning which was told is true."

Dan 8:16 And I heard a man's voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision.

Dan 8:17 So he came near where I stood: and when he came, I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the vision.

Dan 8:18 Now as he was speaking with me, I was in a deep sleep on my face toward the ground: but he touched me, and set me upright.

Dan 8:19 And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be.

Dan 8:20 The ram which thou sawest having two horns are the kings of Media and Persia.

Dan 8:21 And the rough goat is the king of Grecia: and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king.

Dan 8:22 Now that being broken, whereas four stood up for it, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not in his power.

Dan 8:23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.

Dan 8:24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.

Dan 8:25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.

Dan 8:26 And the vision of the evening and the morning which was told is true: wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it shall be for many days.

Dan 8:27 And I Daniel fainted, and was sick certain days; afterward I rose up, and did the king's business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood it.

Olives and the Glory (4) - Japan's August 15

(Mt. Fuji 60 Miles Distant on August 14, 2008, Taken by EEE Reporter for You)

Olives and the Glory (4) - Japan's August 15

Now, His Majesty Emperor and Her Majesty Empress are gravely attending Japan's National Ceremony to Commemorate the End of the Great War (World War II) as the live TV news program is reporting while the noon has come.

* * *

Last night, around 11:30 p.m., I was watching a cable TV program featuring ancient Georgia or Jason and Medea.

Around 0:00 a.m. this morning, I was watching a Japanese movie on TV featuring the last days of the Empire of Japan and the super battleship Yamato.

Then, I checked the late-night TV news program to know that Mr. Obama and Mr. McCain are still in heated campaigns with 48% and 42% support from U.S. voters, respectively.

Today, at the dead of night, they will broadcast a women’s volleyball match of the Olympic Games between Japan and Cuba.

Indeed, Japan is now in the middle of the Buddhist festival period called "Bon" to piously respect ancestors, though I have some work to do in these days.

SECTION I: August 15, 1945

Today, August 15, is one of the most important days for Japan.

You must respect January 1 and August 15 so piously in Japan, since August 15 is the day when Emperor Showa ordered the ceasefire to all the Imperial troops to put an end to World War II.

SECTION II: The Glory of the Olive

Pope John Paul II was inaugurated on October 16, 1978.

As his reign was so long, people wondered even just for curiosity when and how the next Pope would come to the Papal See.

But, the answer was crystal-clear: the Glory of the Olive as St. Malachy prophesied 800 years ago.

It should be interpreted as follows: “When the Olympic Games are held in Athens, the next Pope will succeed Pope John Paul II.”

So, when the 2004 Athens Olympic Games were officially scheduled, Pope John Paul II must have realized when he had to give his holy seat to his successor being symbolized by the Malachy’s word “the Glory of Olive.”

You might forget it, but as John Paul II’s reign was so long that people in the world really wondered when and how the next Pope would come to put on the Papal Crown, while the Cold War was over, Japan became the second largest economy in the world, China was introducing the market economy, and Islamic terrorists started to directly attack the U.S. interests after the Persian Gulf War.

In 1980’s, 1990’s, and early 2000’s, the only non-nonsense question in the Christian world was when and how the next Pope would come to the Papal See (rather than who would).

(However, the factional struggle to pursue initiatives at the Vatican leadership must have been severe, since the Soviet Union and Israel were highly concerned with the Holy See's influence and U.S. Democratic-style Christianity was globally spreading with commercialism, which was finally resulted in the victory of cardinals who respected St. Augustine, the Olive of the Catholic sphere.)

Therefore, "the Glory of the Olive" has a very significant meaning, since it tells that the next Pope would come when the Olympic Games are held in Athens.

Within a year after the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, Pope Benedictus XVI assumed the highest office in the Vatican as you know.

Indeed, if someone is in an official position for almost 30 years, you would really want to know when his successor will appear. And St. Malachy gave an answer 800 years ago.

SECTION III: Electric Power Plants

Japan has been the greatest Asian center of electric power consumption.

But, how small number of people in the world have ever read documents, texts, comments, and sentences any Japanese has ever written in English to global readers! That is why you have to read EEE Reporter, since it gives you reliable information on the world.

Current Global State of Nuclear Power Plants
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Country……No. in Operation……Due to be Built

USA………………………100……………………35
FRANCE…………………59………………………0
JAPAN………………55…………………13
RUSSIA…………………27………………………48
UK…………………………19………………………0
GERMANY………………17………………………0
INDIA……………………17……………………26
CHINA……………………11……………………30

------------------------------------------------------------------------

However, safe methods for disposing of nuclear waste are yet to be fully established.

Therefore, my suggestion is to review the coal-fired power plants.

China and the U.S. are major users of the coal-fired power plants, but their facilities and systems are not suitable in the era of anti-global warming and anti-pollution.

If we can contain heat and gas emitted from the coal-fired power plant more effectively, we can do away with oil-fired power plants.

The amount of coal reserves in the world is large and enough to sustain the global civilization for almost 200 years while crude oil can do only for 50 years or so.

My idea is to build a coal-fired power plant below the ground. Heat and other emissions should be guided and led deep into the underground through special structures and equipment.

You throw coal into the underground plant and then only electric power is sent back to the surface and grids without being accompanied by heat and emissions.

Consequently, the consumption of crude oil will be drastically reduced all over the world and the global warming will be deterred deep under the ground until the next Little Ice Age comes.

By way of caution, it is very important for you to read any proposals written in English by a non-nonsense Japanese, since Japan understands the nuclear power more than Russians, Chinese, Indians, Pakistanis, and North Koreans (who have abducted a hundred or so Japanese for covert operations).

*************************************************************

That is all for today.

I recommend you a good rest, since you must have been working hard these days without going for vacation, say, in Hawaii.

But, if you finally fail in enjoying super endless holidays in Heaven after death, you will not even remember how you have enjoyed fabulous vacations in this world.

Anyway, I don’t think the Vatican people are in a state to take a vacation, since Peter the Roman is yet to come.

August 15 is yet to come for the Vatican and the U.S.

2Ki 8:15 And it came to pass on the morrow, that he took a thick cloth, and dipped it in water, and spread it on his face, so that he died: and Hazael reigned in his stead.

2Ki 8:16 And in the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being then king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Je hoshaphat king of Judah began to reign.

2Ki 8:17 Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

2Ki 8:18 And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab: for the daughter of Ahab was his wife: and he did evil in the sight of the LORD.

2Ki 8:19 Yet the LORD would not destroy Judah for David his servant's sake, as he promised him to give him alway a light, and to his children.

Olives and the Glory (3)

Olives and the Glory (3)

Something may be wrong, friends, since an evil spirit seems to be seeing down to something.

It might be related to the injury Ms. Noguchi, the Japanese female marathon gold medalist in Athens in 2004, has been suffering since the end of this July to the extent to abandoning her scheduled entry into the Beijing’s race to be held soon with an expectation that Ms. Radcliffe will erase the horrible image of her fall in the middle of the race in Athens’ Olympic Games.

Otherwise, it may be so, since U.S. President Mr. George W. Bush looked like nobody but a super-rich sightseer in Beijing.

http://big5.xinhuanet.com/gate/big5/news.xinhuanet.com/olympics/2008-08/10/content_9152565.htm

It must be so, because immediately after the start of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games armed conflicts started in the border area between Russia and Georgia. In early September of 2004, a school near the area was attacked by insurgents, resulting in at least 334 hostages killed, including 186 children.

Or it may be related to a dishonest Chinese taxi driver a Japanese newspaper reporter encountered on his way back to an air port from a hotel in a Northern Chinese city where diplomatic negotiations were held yesterday or the day before between Japan and North Korea on the subject of Japanese citizens North Korean secret agents had abducted in the past decades.

SECTION I: Pope Leo XIII and John Paul II

I know some Japanese Christian priests who cannot understand such things as a spirit, a soul, an angel, a devil, and any other intangible and invisible things and miracles being described in the Bible. They regard the Bible and the Gospel as a kind of moral stories full of exaggerations.

Now, I am afraid that some Americans supporting Mr. Barack Obama might be the same as those Japanese priests who do not even believe the world beyond, namely existence of Heaven and the hell.

Anyway, you have to admit that a Pope can be allowed sometimes to hear a conversation between God and the devil.

--------------------------------------------
Exactly 33 years to the day prior to the great Miracle of the Sun in Fatima, that is, on October 13, 1884, Pope Leo XIII had a remarkable vision…
As he listened, he heard the following conversation:
The guttural voice, the voice of Satan in his pride, boasted to Our Lord:
"I can destroy your Church."

The gentle voice of Our Lord:
"You can? Then go ahead and do so."

Satan:
"To do so, I need more time and more power."

Our Lord:
"How much time? How much power?

Satan:
"75 to 100 years, and a greater power over those who will give themselves over to my service."

Our Lord:
"You have the time, you will have the power.
Do with them what you will."

--------------------------------------------

Then, WWI and WWII occurred. And the USSR and the U.S. started to aim nuclear war-head ballistic missiles at each other, though the cold war ended with the fall of the Berlin Walls in 1989, namely five years after the year 1984 the Devil had set as the longest time limit.

No all-out nuclear war was set off between NATO and the Soviet Block, though the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in the Soviet Union was accidentally blown off in 1986, containing the possible global nuclear disaster only into a part of the former USSR.

What’s more, referring to the above site but pondering the contents in the opposite direction, we must find that Pope John Paul II advanced his understanding on the love of God to mankind as the Pope admitted:
5/6/80:
All men are saved;
11/17/80:
Luther had a profound religious spirit; and
6/17/84:
Buddhism is a great religion.

Indeed, Pope John Paul II is said to have respected Pope Leo XIII very much:
--------------------------------------------------
At the same time, we should not forget that no less a figure than Pope John Paul II paid a great tribute to Pope Leo XIII by publishing Centesimus Annus in 1991 on the one hundredth anniversary of Leo's Rerum Novarum. John Paul II looked back to Leo XIII in commemorating the fall of communism, and he re-affirmed Leo's social teaching in favor of a qualified version of private property, capitalism, and workers' rights. Pope John Paul II's anti-communism and affirmation of the dignity of labor are deeply indebted to the spirit of Leo XIII.

--------------------------------------------------

Nonetheless, as the 2004 Athens Olympic Games (symbolized by the Glory of the Olive) and the 2005 inauguration of Pope Benedict XVI are almost within a moment for Malachy who lived more than 800 years ago, this time limit the Devil imposed on himself cannot be trusted unconditionally, since the Devil is a devil.

Until the Lord God interferes with the continued evildoing by the Devil, the Devil must continue his cruel attacks on mankind despite the expiration of his self-declared time limit.

SECTION II: Modernity, Globalization, and the Vatican

This issue must be reviewed later; but the above site on Pope Leo XIII is useful in this study, since the Devil started to launch full-scale attacks on mankind in 1884 as witnessed by the then Pope Leo XIII.

Yet, if modernity and economic globalization are the stage where the Devil is playing his game, the Vatican must be fully engaged in it.

But the alarming fact is that the Vatican has been very reluctant to fight against the Devil in the various sectors of the global society, including the political sector, the diplomatic sector, the defense sector, the industry sector, the labor sector, and the financial sector or specifically Wall Street and the City.

SECTION III: The Glory of the Olive

It does not seem to be simply enough for Cardinal Mr. Joseph Ratzinger to name himself Pope Benedict XVI.

It is not so in order to fulfill the prophecy written by St. Malachy more than 800 years ago as allegedly.

Pope Benedict XVI must move the headquarters of his religious organization from Rome to Jerusalem.

Many Judaists in the world returned to Palestine after WWII.

Now, the Vatican must return to Jerusalem.

All the cardinals and officials now living and working in the Vatican, Rome, must move to Jerusalem to show their utmost respect for their Lord Jesus Christ.

This great return of the headquarters of the Catholic Church to Jerusalem must be carried out during the reign of the incumbent Pope; accordingly, the Malachy’s prophecy shall be fulfilled precisely with the holy words “The Glory of The Olive.”

*****************************************************************

The last fall I went to the Tokyo National Stadium to see a women’s marathon race Ms. Noguchi joined.

She won it. But, one of pictures I took there showed some dark shadow around her. That is why I was cautious about mentioning the women’s marathon race in the Beijing Olympic Games until recently. Finally, Ms. Noguchi announced yesterday her default in the Beijing Olympic marathon race, which shocked so many Japanese people.

Nonetheless, it is a surprise that a Japanese male fencer got the silver medal in Beijing following a German gold medalist, though fencing was originally established in France.

Likewise, there might be something we are still missing in things and events now happening in the venue of the 2008 Olympic Games, since the Great Sichuan Earthquake could have happened in these days but not a few months ago, taking 70,000 innocent lives.

Gen 8:14 And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, was the earth dried.

Gen 8:15 And God spake unto Noah, saying,

Gen 8:16 Go forth of the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons' wives with thee.

Gen 8:17 Bring forth with thee every living thing that is with thee, of all flesh, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth; that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth.

Gen 8:18 And Noah went forth, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him:

Gen 8:19 Every beast, every creeping thing, and every fowl, and whatsoever creepeth upon the earth, after their kinds, went forth out of the ark.

Gen 8:20 And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

Gen 8:21 And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.

Gen 8:22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
