"There Was a Great Calm"

(Around Tokyo yesterday)

American experts in the international affairs are gradually turning their eyes to the coming epoch-making change in the Japanese Government:

U.S.-Japan Ties under the DPJ: Reluctant Realism Redux

Ozawa the enforcer

Katsuya Okada is an attractive and popular politician, but if he stays as Secretary General of the party, he will probably not be an enforcer of intra-party or intra-coalition politics. Ironically, the enforcer could be Ichiro Ozawa—the one man in the DPJ who really understands power in the most Machiavellian sense. Hatoyama’s campaign slogan "yu-ai" means "fellowship." Ozawa’s philosophy might be described as "crush anyone in the way."

Ozawa may have said many unhelpful things about the US over the past few years, but the Obama administration should hope that he is just behind Hatoyama imposing discipline on the disparate groupings with the DPJ and whipping the left towards the center. If not, it might be better for the DPJ to fall apart in a cacophony of clashing populist themes so that Japan can move quickly to the next stage of political realignment.

The regime change in Japan is not going to happen around the Japan-U.S. alliance; it is around pension scandals.

Yet, it is true that the next ruling party of Japan hopeful DPJ includes many members who regard America as a great threat to the peace in the world. Those members are associated with labor unions and the ex-Socialist Party of Japan.

These leftist members sometimes share anti-America sentiment with Japanese right-wing nationalists, since both the group do not like American military and monetary arrogance.

However, this is the era that the Chinese Communist Party has become a friend of the U.S. Government if not of American workers, taxpayers, and voters.

Even the toughest leftists or right-wing members of the DJP love to enjoy traveling in America. They love to see American movies. They casually drop at a McDonald Hamburger shop. They must be surely enjoying the MLB games on TV or actually going to see Ichiro or Matsui in a ballpark at Seattle or New York.

They like American culture but do not like American military and monetary arrogance.

They are not enemies for American workers, taxpayers, voters, and consumers.

(They think that they cannot be rich because some LDP politicians connive with bad and rich Americans linked to Wall Street to engage in predatory practices targeting Japan's wealth by changing Japanese traditional, social and economical systems for their convenience.)

The coming DPJ Administration of Japan will never challenge America militarily or financially, though they will refrain from changing domestic systems in favor of Wall Street.

If the Chinese Communist Party is a friend of the U.S. Government, the coming DPJ Administration of Japan is a brother of America, as the incumbent ruling LDP Administration has been.

Indeed, the future between Japan and the U.S. can be so rosy, since both the country is going to be administered by a Democratic party each.

SECTION I: China and Europe and their Histories

Europe can be another China. Or China might have to be another Europe.

But, Europe consists of many countries while China does not.

Basically the Chinese history is the history of the world subject to the glory of the ancient Chinese Civilization.

Basically the European history is the history of the world subject to the Roman Emperor or the Pope.

(Basically the Japanese history is the history of the world subject to the cultural/religious authority of the Emperor of Japan and power struggles among samurai clans.

Basically the American history is the history of the world subject to whatever justification of immigration to America for American Dream.)

Mat 8:24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.

Mat 8:25 And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.

Mat 8:26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.
