Our Having Conscience Proves that We are Spirits
The Gospels and the teaching of Christ Jesus encourage people to perform good deeds and avoid evil like other no-nonsense religions and saints.
One medical professor one day began to wonder why men have conscience while there seems no reason for biological existence for men in this world. After studying near-death experiences and Swedenborg's case, he understood that conscience of men was given by the God in the spirit world but not generated through their living in this material world.
Most men know that the God (if He ever existed), religions, and their traditional culture exhort goodness and love, but they sometimes cannot stop doing evil things secretly behind others to satisfy their desires toward money, wealth, higher positions, etc. Indeed, for a man as a biological entity to pursue richer life in terms of biology, it seems to be advantageous to do any evil things to secure his own profits if he believes that there is nothing left after his death. For a man to promote his own happiness to the maximum degree in this world, he would do any evil to maximize his profits by abusing and getting control over others and thus neglecting benefits and happiness of others without minding their pains and toils.
However, if he thinks, even unconsciously, that there might be the afterlife and the spirit world where the God presides requesting good and love, he would hesitate to be as evil as possible.
According to the reports of those who had near-death experiences, the spirit world is full of love and goodness. Their experiences match Swedenborg's experiences in the spirit world where he spent some time while living in this world. The spirit world leads to Heaven where love and goodness are affluent, though there is the hell where evil spirits go and hide from the God.
Therefor, we have to conclude that goodness and conscience are not generated by biological entities of men in this material world but are given by the God through Heaven and the spirit world.
Christ Jesus indeed said that the God is love and also the Spirit. Therefore, He said, men should love the God as spirits.
Put simply, our having conscience proves that we are spirits in our essence not only mere biological living things. Therefore, there is no wonder that some people have near-death experiences or Swedenborg saw and accessed the spirit word as a spirit.

34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.
36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?
