The internet and Bible prophecy community have been buzzing due to an ancient prophecy attributed to Saint Malachy which predicted some 112 popes culminating in the destruction of Rome, Benedict being next to last. Adding fuel to the fire are assertions from a soon to be released book titled after the predicted last pope concerning a cryptic cipher published by a Belgian Jesuit back in 1951. 

Bestselling author, Thomas Horn (Apollyon Rising, Forbidden Gates), has teamed up with a Christian apologist and author Cris Putnam (Pandemonium’s Engine) in the soon to be released book, Petrus Romanus, which explores the intricacies of the Malachy prophecy and the potential role of the pope in biblical prophecy. According to the blog promoting the soon to be released book, the deceased Jesuit priest and codebreaker, René Thibaut, decoded 2012 explicitly as the year for the final conclave. According to calculations at Putnam’s website the date coincides with the recent rumors. 

While some Catholic scholars are divided on the Prophecy of the Popes, John Lupia Ph.D. at Roman Catholic News has deemed it genuine. Loyal Catholics are likely incredulous due to Rome’s predicted doom during the next pontificate. This foretold apocalyptic demise has Protestants like Hal Lindsey and Jack Van Impe speculating that the “rapture” of the church — a time when true believers will be caught away into the heavens and saved from great tribulation — will occur very soon. For believers in the rapture, this seems all the more exhilarating amidst the numerous 2012 predictions.

Terror, Nothing Personal?

Why didn't Osama bin Laden target the US President, namely Mr. W. Bush, on September 11, 2001?

He sent two hijacked commercial jet planes to Washington DC to destroy the Pentagon and the White House, probably.  Then Osama and his aids must have checked where President Bush would be on the day.

But immediately before September 11, namely on September 9, Ahmed Shah Massoud, one of anti-Taliban leaders, was killed by Al Qaeda/Taliban in northern Afghanistan. These two incidents were linked. So, as soon as they took on enemy commander Massoudt, Osama and his followers wanted the terror to be carried out in Washington and New York. It is not clear how these two operations were linked, but on their side these two seem to have been psychologically linked. And, in one terror action, they took a specific man, Massoud,, but in another action, they didn't try to attack any special individuals, including Mr. W. Bush.

So, the World Trade Center in New York was more important than President Bush for Osama and his entourage.  But Osama said in a video tape that he had thought that only floors above the one hit by a hijacked plane would collapse to the ground,  Osama did not expect that scale of the total disaster in the southern part of New York City.

Yet, Osama and Al Qaeda leaders wanted to attack the World Trade Center no matter if they could destroy and crash only the upper part of the Towers down to the ground.
 
Nonetheless, in May 2011, US President Obama specifically ordered to attack Osama hiding in a town of Pakistan, which was successfully executed.

As Osama did not focus on President W. Bush, his act of terror expanded world wide, leading to tragedies in London, Lisbon, Bali, etc.  But as Obama focused on only Osama, no fear spread widely in the Islamic world.

Once or more than 150 years ago and before, successive Chinese emperors and their subjects though that China was the most advanced and cultivated empire in the world.

They thought that savages lived in the north of their empire, other savages lived in the west, different savages lived in the south, and some savages lived in the east.

But they were defeated by the British Empire in 1842 while English merchants were selling opium to Chinese and receiving silver in exchange to make UK's account balance which would have been otherwise in a state of the red due to a huge trade deficits with India.      

Now China has gained some economic power and built up some modern military forces, trying to venture into pretending to be an old empire before the Opium War.

It is very unique and traditional, but not sane at all in the 21st century.

China must stop having its naval ships and military planes lock on Japanese vessels and helicopters patrolling the Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea, since the islands belong to Japan from the era in the late 19th century when the Empire of Japan defeated the Ching Dynasty in the first Japanese-Chinese War.

The All Japan Judo Federation now faces accusation of having treated female judo players badly.

It was exposed to the Media as 15 of those women wrote a letter to the Japan Olympic Committee asking for help as their appeal to the Federation had been almost neglected.

Those top judo players alleged that the head coach of the Japanese female national judo team kicked, punched, and slapped them often.  So, they wanted dismissal of him.

Now the head coach was fired and some other leaders of the Judo Federation also resigned from their posts among rising concerns in the society.

As Tokyo plans to host the 2020 Olympic Games, this incident is taken gravely by the Tokyo Government Office and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan.

I think it is not good for people to live on Judo.  They have to also work as ordinary citizens in some decent work places, for example, in office, plants, or shops of businesses or administrative institutions.   Judo is not a means to earn salary and get social status.

There should not be professional judo players and coaches like wrestling and boxing.  They must be also, for example, workers in ordinary workplaces.

New Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe is turning to be a focus not only in Japan but also in the world.

He was elected as prime minister in 2006 but fell into an illness and resigned in the middle of accusation in 2007.  At the time he was in his early 50s.

Mr. Abe was elected again as president of the conservative LDP last September to win the general election held three months later, in December, to take over power from the labor-union based DPJ and become the 96th prime minister of Japan, though he was once the 90th.  Such a comeback case is rare in Japan especially in competition for the premiership.

Mr. Abe was from one of politically very notable families in Japan.  His grandfather was also prime minister of Japan; Nobusuke Kishi  assumed prime minister office from 1957 to 1960, though this ex-elite bureaucrat of the Empire of Japan had been a state minister of the Cabinet led by prime minister/army general Hideki Tojyo who ordered the Pearl Harbor Attack.  Kishi was even arrested as one of war criminals by the US forces after WWII.

When he was the 90th prime minister of Japan in 2006, LDP politician Mr. Shinzo Abe was labeled as the worst type of Japanese nationalists who had ever assumed the premiership of Japan.  The New York Times and other Western Media which were especially compassionate with China  expressed their discomfort against Mr. Shinzo Abe.  Those Media claimed that Mr. Abe neglected responsibility of the Empire of Japan for tragedies in Asia and the Pacific region during WWII.

Mr. Abe and the LDP intend to revise the Japanese Constitution which imposes strict or too idealistic peace-loving administrative stances and practices on the Japanese Government.  As this Constitution was based on a draft worked out by Americans appointed by General MacArthur who led the Allied occupation forces stationed in Japan after WWII, the conservative or nationalistic camp in Japan want to abolish it and establish a new constitution to be drafted 100% by Japanese.    

However, what Japanese voters want PM Abe to do is not such a political reform concerning nationalism or traditionalism.  It is economy.

People understand that the socialistic DPJ having been in charge of the government failed in economy while they had power between September 2009 and December 2012.  Now as the Abe Cabinet clearly holds up their goals, at least for the time being, of combating with deflation continuing since 1990s.  Japanese see Mr. Abe as a leader putting more emphasis on the economy than on nationalism.

Japanese businesses and exporters, including Toyota, which have suffered the too-high yen in these years welcome PM Abe, while Mr. Abe has strongly requested cooperation of the Bank of Japan, which has quickly resulted in a trend reversed in the exchange market and high stock prices in the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

So, if China and North Korea should not challenge Japan with their military capacity, there would be no problems in East Asia, though China is still stupidly pretending to be trying to illegally invade the Senkaku Islands of Japan in the East China Sea.

Iraq has been a historic place, since Abraham was born there 4000 years ago.

Now all these places are under violent conditions.  Or since the beginning of the 21st century, they have faced wars, terror, and bloody violence.

Even north Africa the Roman Empire colonized roughly 2000 years ago is now suffering acts of terror and dangerous turmoil.

And, one thing remarkable is that the US has been significantly involved in the situations of these regions.  Or rather, the US triggered this great degree of commotions in those Islamic states.

The relationship between the Islamic world and the largest Christian country, the US, must be a key to understanding this era, in any way.

The Japanese Government made a test easier for Asians who want to be qualified in Japan for nursing jobs.

Formerly those Asians, mostly Indonesians officially invited by the Japanese authority, had to take an examination just as Japanese nursing students do.   Question sheets were all written in Japanese with full of difficult Kanji expressions of medical terms.  Though most of those Asian test-takers could read Kana expressions after a few-year studying in Japan, Kanji letters are extremely difficult.  Even ordinary Japanese could not read correctly those special Kanji expressions and understand their medical meanings.

Nurses certificated in Indonesia, for example, are allowed to work in hospitals in Japan for a few years without official Japanese licenses of legitimate nurses.  But they are requested to pass the national examination for nursing license during their allowed stay in Japan.  Learning of the Japanese language is a heavy burden for them.  So, only a small percentage of Asian nurses could pass it.  (They looked like geniuses.)  But others who failed twice or so in the examination had to go back to their mother countries.  (The qualification test is conducted once a year.)

But, the Japanese authority has decided to add a Kana expression to every Kanji expression used in question paper.  As Kana characters are a kind of alphabet, many Asians are expected to pass the qualification test somewhat easily.

Anyway this language issue is the toughest barrier against foreigners and foreign businesses who want to expand their scope of activities into Japan.

Indeed, everybody learns English in Japan for more than three years in schools after WWII, more than 99% of Japanese or more than 100 million Japanese have no chances to speak English with foreigners in their daily life at all.

A Japanese doctor, or an obstetrician, died of cancer at 74 in a town close to the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant now under recovery work.

He delivered a baby 70 times or so since the eruption of the nuclear disaster.  He would not leave the town, Minamis-Soma City, but stayed to continue his medical service till lately.

The hospital where he worked is just 25 kilometers from Fukushima Daiichi.  So, everybody in the hospital was evacuated but Mr. Kyohei Takahashi.  Mr. Takahashi was also voluntarily engaged in decontamination work around houses where a pregnant woman or small children live.

Mr. Takahashi became the only full-time medical doctor after the nuclear plant got into a big trouble in March 2011, leaking radioactive material and driving other medical doctors out of the city.  But he decided to work as usual, encouraging helpless citizens in Minamis-Soma City who could not run away from their homes due to various conditions despite high radiation doses.  His existence became a symbol of recovery of the town eventually.

Mr. Takahashi said, "Children are the future of the nation."  So, he tried to be a shield against dangerous radiation, since the hospital was in the evacuation zone as the Japanese Government so specified.

Where did the globalization of economy begin?

It was neither in the east of Europe nor in the south of Europe.

The Islamic world in the south and east of the Mediterranean did not take major part in this globalization.  It was somewhat India as Bangalore became another but minor Silicon Valley with a benefit of the out-sourcing trend from the US.  And it could be Thailand and Malaysia to some extent as they enjoyed a huge influx of  technology and funds from Japan.

But the globalization first started first in Taiwan where Japanese technology and funds were imported in large quantity, then South Korea businesses started to hire so many high-level Japanese engineers who retired from Japanese companies.  But till recently the term economic globalization was almost tantamount to success of the Chinese economy which had been bolstered by almost 20,000 Japanese businesses that transferred so many various types of technologies and so many funds in addition to GM, Wal-Mart, and other American businesses..

The great rise of economy in Taiwan, South Korea, China, Thailand, Malaysia, and India started to trigger the G20 boom.    

It was a ripple effect made by mostly transfer of technology, funds, and business from Japan and the US to East Asia and India.

So, people living in the south and east of the Mediterranean, as far as the Indus Valley, are still under threat of terror as we have observed in Algeria where some Japanese engineers were killed in an act of terror targeting a gas field in the Sahara.

Now, a TV broadcast in Japan has made a quick report that they confirmed seven Japanese deaths in the Algerian incident, but some more confirmation of death is expected.

This universe is designed so well.

It is so simple in structure but so multifaceted in its function and appearance.

As students know, almost all the substances, matter and material surrounding human beings consist of three basic entities: neutrons, protons, and electrons.

Clouds, rain drops, leaves, woods, grasses, rocks, sands, and every plant and animal are made of these three elements, though there hundreds of billions of types of those materials and living things on the earth and their aspects of appearance.

But, if anything wrong occurs in laws which control and govern neutrons, protons, and electrons, all the materials and substances and living things on this earth and in the universe could be destroyed, since physical laws ca apply to everything in the same manner.

And, our belief is that it is the God who designed such laws in the beginning.

According to Christianity and Buddhism, rich men are to be condemned and thrown into the hell or destined to suffer in another life through transmigration.

It is because you have to do harm to others explicitly or implicitly so as to earn any money.

To get $100, you have to virtually commit a crime corresponding to $100.  To get $1 million, you have to virtually commit a crime worth $1 million.  This crime might not be clearly shown, but in economic and social structure expanding globally, your having a chance to earn $100 or $1 million means your depriving other poor and unlucky people living somewhere on the earth of their chances to get $100 or to be rich.

Therefore, if you live a righteous life, you will become inevitably very poor.

A clergyman who gives all his money to the poor will be one of the poor, so simply.  

So, Christ Jesus and the Buddha never went out to the rich to teach them or save their souls, since those wealthy people are happy and do not want to be unhappy by giving their money to the poor as Christ Jesus and the Buddha told.

So, if you think you don't mind your situation after death but want to be rich and happy in this material world, you are cursed to eternal death or suffering.

But, if you respect and follow Christ Jesus and the Buddha, your soul will be saved.

This is the most authentic religion.

Boeing 787 Burning?

A Boeing 787 terminated today its domestic flight in Japan due to burning of one of its batteries after having flied for 15 minutes.

Probably, when they designed 787, engineers correctly calculated a necessary amount of electricity to operate this new jet plane which consumes more electricity than any other planes.

So, they must have selected batteries capable of providing enough electricity for various devices loaded on a plane.  But they must have also tried to reduce weight of the plane.  Accordingly, the batteries they adopted must have a large capacity but a light weight.  And this lightweight might mean less protection against heat generation during provision of electric current from the battery.

And in an actual flight, a pattern of use of electricity must be very different from what was observed during a test of those batteries.  In a test, they must have checked that each battery could withstand without becoming too hot while providing a maximum amount of electric current to equipment.

But, too large overshoot of output electric current can happen in a real situation where airplane systems or passengers switch on and off devices in an unexpected manner so that some battery is heated to burn eventually.

Anyway, the keyword is humbleness.  Even the space shuttle spacecraft suffered a big tragedy a few times sacrificing precious human lives.   The Boeing 787, one third of whose main body is built based on Japanese technology, must be more carefully reviewed technically with a focus on an influence of bad cost reduction efforts.

One of big social concerns in Japan is a kind of flourishing of businesses that exploit young people.

In Japan almost all the university graduates are employed in April as they graduate from colleges and universities in March.  The job-hunting season for Japanese students is almost virtually specified so as to meet this social custom of starting to work in April.

Decades ago, university graduates were expected to work in companies that hired them on their graduation till their retirement, since university graduates were regarded as elites in society.  But as time went by, the ratio of university graduates in the same generation increased, and work environments greatly changed in Japan along with introduction of IT technologies and due to intensified global competition.  So, labor mobility increased, and career change came to be regraded as minor disadvantage for young people, though it once worked very unfavorably for Japanese workers before.

But the first company young university graduates start to work after leaving schools is important.  They are still expected to work there for at least one year or so before switching companies.  But if the company is run by bad management, young workers cannot stay there even for one year.

Such a bad company uses university graduates as mere copy boys or errand runners without giving them a chance to learn business know-hows and accumulate business skills.  And, within one year, such a company tries to push young workers out of it to hire new graduates in the next spring, thus saving labor costs.  They start to treat young workers harshly and get cruel to them, forcing them to quit voluntarily.  Then the rotten management can recruit new university students in the next job-hunting season without a penalty on them.

Those bad companies are called "black businesses" in Japan today.  Such companies can be found mostly in the service sector, including the computer software business sector and the restaurant business.

Nonetheless, young people in Japan seem to enjoy better employment situations, since the whole unemployment rate in Japan is 4.1% as of November 2012.

University students who were employed by businesses and any social bodies accounted for 93.6% of all the graduates as of April 1, 2012 and who received unofficial job offer from businesses they wanted to be employed accounted for 63.1% as of October 2012.

On December 26, 2004, off Sumatra Island, Indonesia, an M9.1 earthquake and big tsunamis occurred to attack the Indian Ocean coast lines, taking 220,000 lives.  

On January 12, 2010, Haiti, so close to New York and Washington DC in a global scope, suffered a great earthquake in its capital Port-au-Prince immediately taking on 50,000 lives and subsequently claiming 250,000 more lives.

On March 11, 2011, an M9.0 earthquake gave a great shock to Japan, especially, to those living north of Tokyo along the North Pacific coast lines stretching to the north end of Honsyu Island over 800 km (500 miles).    

The 2011 earthquake off the Pacific coast of Tōhoku, often referred to in Japan as Higashi nihon daishin-sai and also known as the 2011 Tohoku earthquake, the Great East Japan Earthquake, and the 3.11 Earthquake, was a magnitude 9.03 (Mw) undersea megathrust earthquake off the coast of Japan that occurred at 14:46 JST (05:46 UTC) on 11 March 2011, with the epicentre approximately 70 kilometres (43 mi) east of the Oshika Peninsula of Tōhoku and the hypocenter at an underwater depth of approximately 32 km (20 mi). It was the most powerful known earthquake ever to have hit Japan, and one of the five most powerful earthquakes in the world since modern record-keeping began in 1900.

This earthquake  caused 16 meter-high tsunamis over hundreds of kilometers along the coast lines some of which attacked and crippled the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.   Due to this accident, afterwards almost all the nuclear power plants in Japan were halted.  (Now only two nuclear reactors are operated for electricity generation in West Japan, while about 50 plants are still shut down.)

The point at issue is why Japanese utility companies, experts, government officials in charge, and so on could not or would not refer to the Sumatra and Haiti cases to proactively take precaution measures at the Fukushima No.1 Nuclear Plant.   

What they had to do was just enhance the height of breakwaters surrounding Fukushima Daiichi from about 9 meters (27 feet) to 18 meters (54 feet), since the Sumatra earthquake triggered more than 20-meter high tsunamis.  Then, nuclear damages totaling more than $120 billion should have been spared.

The Japanese public TV broadcaster NHK tonight presented a video footage a Syrian citizen took on streets of the war-plagued country.

It was full of bloody scenes, and it is very rare that NHK broadcasts such scenes as they are.

In a few incidents, Syrian rebels tried to rescue their fellow man being shot and laying on a road.  Even a school boy was ambushed and shot, though he was successfully taken back and carried to a hospital full of other wounded children.

Japanese narration said that fighter planes of the Syrian Government were bombing houses of citizens indiscriminately.

But when I saw some faces of Syrian children in the middle of the tragedy, I sense that they might have some DNAs inherited from ancient Romans as they did not look like pure Arabs.   Indeed Syria became arenas of war from the era of the Roman Empire so many times.  Some Roman soldiers might have settled in Syria to have a family.

It is a big surprise that people are still fighting in Syria like they did 2000 years ago or so, when preserving our sanity and observing the destructive situation.

Are there any prophecies that tell that when they shed blood in a scene of a battle again in Syria 2000 years after the coming of the Son of God, Judaists should take some blame if they live in the south of Syria as an independent nation?
