"I Heard a Voice Saying unto Me, Arise"

(Japanese Government on Holiday)

OKINAWA BASES RATHER THAN BERLIN WALL

Everybody lives long and very long in Okinawa.

It is so, since it is the only major sub-tropical island of Japan.

SECTION I: JAPAN-US SECURITY TREATY

The area used or occupied by the U.S. military on the Okinawa Island is colored blue in the following map. As the lateral width of the island is 10 miles or so, it is too much for Okinawa people to bear with.

First of all, since 1953 when a truce for the Korean War was arranged by the U.S., South Korea, and U.N. Security Forces with North Korea or since 1973 when U.S. troops left Vietnam putting an end to its Vietnam War, peace in East Asia has been mostly maintained by Japan's adherence to its peace constitution.

However, subject to the US-Japan security treaty, American troops are allowed to have bases in Japan.

Yet, as their bases in Okinawa are today threatening life and assets of Okinawa people, the treaty will have to undergo review.

SECTION II: JESUS CHRIST AND WARS

Jesus Christ's teaching is, of course, intended to eradicate war from the world.

Yet, He said that the end of the world would surely come being accompanied by wars:

FAQ: Christians and the End of the World
A guide to beliefs about the End Times and Jesus' return.

...
What do Christians believe about the end of the world?

Nearly all Christians are taught that Jesus Christ will return in glory and reign eternally.
But beliefs differ about how this will happen. Many Catholics, liberal Protestants, and Orthodox Christians in the U.S. do not emphasize the end of the world.
...
What are the signs of the end of the world?

Many Christians cite Matthew 24, in which Jesus tells his disciples that certain events will herald the end of the world:

Wars and rumors of war
Famine
Earthquakes
Persecution
False prophets
Lawlessness
A hardening of hearts

In the same chapter, Jesus also says that the Great Commission--his command to spread the Gospel to all the world--will be fulfilled before the end comes.

Citing Revelation 13, some Christians believe that an Antichrist will usher in the End Times.
...
Are Christians who believe in the End Times "rooting" for chaos and violence in the Middle East because they usher in the last days?

No. Most Christians who believe the last days are imminent would see increased wars and violence as inevitable but regrettable signs of the end of the world.

So, what is the "end of the world" then?

Tonight, NHK TV Station in Tokyo broadcast an interview held in the White House with President Mr. Barack Obama.

NHK boasted that it is the first interview with the president having been done by the Japanese media.

President Mr. Barack Obama stressed that he would surely visit Hiroshima at some point in his presidency.

Yet, it is a little interesting that Former President Ronald Reagan was not awarded the Nobel Peace Prize though he addressed in Berlin, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear this wall down!"

Act 11:7 And I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat.

Act 11:8 But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth.

Act 11:9 But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

Act 11:10 And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven.

Act 11:11 And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Caesarea unto me.
