How to Prevent Future Nuclear Accidents

The biggest concern should be how well China and South Korean can continue to manage their nuclear power generation stations.

As you know, the US experienced the Three Mile Island accident in 1979; the Soviet Union suffered the Chernobyl accident in 1986; and Japan faced the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident in 2011 which is not yet completely fixed.

So, it is very likely that China and South Korea will repeat the mistakes those nuclear advanced countries have made.   　

In the worst case, China would have devastating damage on its coast line from Shanghai to Hong Kong and in the regions along Chang Jiang (the Long River).  South Korea would lose the southern part of its national land for nuclear contamination.

So, it is imperative for Japan, South Korea, and China to cooperate in developing more effective technology to secure safety of nuclear power plants and in pursuing new energy technologies and policies which would allow for abolition of nuclear power plants.



By the way, based on the experience of the 2011 Fukuhsima Daiichi nuclear accident, I can propose one idea for building a safe nuclear power plant.

A nuclear reactor should be built in the center of a huge artificial lake which is directly linked to a big river or a sea to take in fresh water.

The ceiling or roof the nuclear reactor should be set lower than the water surface of the lake.  Then, if a big accident should occur,  all the power sources should be lost, and circulation of cooling water should be stopped between the reactor and a turbine room, fresh water for preventing a meltdown of nuclear fuel could be supplied from the lake simply by workers who manually open valves of a pipe connecting the top of reactor and the lake.   Then, water would flow spontaneously from the artificial lake to the inside of the crippled nuclear reactor without electricity and motors.

This simple method is surely effective, since the Fukushima Daiichi plant of Japan underwent meltdowns due to a lack of electricity to activate motors and valves needed for circulation of cooling water while the temperature inside crippled reactors was going up as water evaporated and got lost from the reactors after they suffered an M9.0 earthquake and 16-meter high tsunamis on March 11, 2011.

There is a device using four units of batteries.

One day it failed to operate.  But I experienced the same situation several times before.

So, I exchanged two batteries which looked older, as before.  Whenever I replaced two older batteries among the four, it was restored.  But this time it didn't work.

So, I checked it by disassembling it and using some method to find that a switching unit connected to the main body over a wire properly worked.

Accordingly I went out to buy a new main body.  But when I checked it at home I found something strange.  The new main body with two new batteries and two existent batteries (those relatively new among the four old batteries) did not work, either.   So, I replaced the two existent batteries with two other new ones.  It worked.

I should have replaced all the four batteries at once.

So, finally I got one new lesson and one new device redundant at hand.

Prime Minister of Japan Mr. Noda promised the president of the major opposition party LDP Mr. Tanigaki on August 8 that if Mr. Tanigaki cooperated with the prime minister to pass a tax rise bill and laws related to social welfare and pension policies he would dissolve the Lower House in near future or as soon as appropriate.

As the LDP lost power in 2009 but is now expected to win a next general election, Mr. Tanigaki accepted this offer.  Besides, the LDP also committed itself publicly to reform the national finance and hence increase the consumption tax rate.  Accordingly the bills passed the national assembly in August.

But, PM Mr. Noda would not keep his word.  Meanwhile, Mr. Tanigaki lost support from LDP members to lose his position as he could not run for the LDP presidential election held in September because of too few supporters for his reelection.

 On the other hand, Mr. Noda was reelected in the election of his party the DPJ to choose its new head.  So, Lower House lawmaker Mr. Noda could continue his premiership; but he would not dissolve the Lower House that has power to elect the prime minister of Japan.  Every survey showed a result that Mr. Noda and the ruling party DPJ would most likely lose the next general election.

But, as the public and the opposition parties blamed Mr. Noda for not fulfilling the promise, the approval rating for PM Mr. Noda plummeted below 20%.  So, finally the prime minister announced in a face-to-face discussion with new president of the LDP Mr. Shinzo Abe in the national Diet on Nov. 12 that he would resolve the Lower House on November 16.

Accordingly, the election was formally  slated for December 16.

This is the current state of the politics in Japan.

There was one young female office worker in the home office of Toyota Motors in Aichi Prefecture.

It was immediately after WWII.  Though Toyota was in a kind of boom during WWII, it lost many business connections and chances since the Empire of Japan lost the war against the US.

So, she was not so much thrilled in her work, though she was assigned to a job to copy various reports, letters, documents, etc.  As there were no modern copying machines at the time, she had to make a fair copy of every sheet in handwriting using carbon paper.  

While doing this carbon copy work, she was drawn to contents of those papers.  At the time the labor union was fiercely fighting the corporate management.  Japan was in recession, so that the company wanted to fire redundant workers.  On the other hand, workers without much to do in workshops were indulged in endless discussions and meetings to build a strategy for negotiations for a wage increase.

She enjoyed vivid exchanges of words between the management and the union recorded  in minute books.  And she also learnt what clever persons would say and what foolish ones would discuss.

As time went by, the Korean War erupted in 1950.  The US Army passed a huge amount of orders to Toyota, though they mostly wanted to buy trucks from Toyota.  Anyway, she observed how a corporation, namely Toyota, recovered from the state of a slump after WWII, riding on a special procurement boom triggered by the Korean War.

But, while other young female workers left the company for marriage, she was still doing the same job of copying documents in office.  She felt that she had to do something, as she found that she was not so lucky in romance in this head office of Toyota 350 km west of Tokyo.

So, one day, she abruptly went into a room of an executive who was responsible for human affairs of whole Toyota, as her desk was close to the director corner.  The executive was surprised to see her coming into his room for some talk without reservation or without following hierarchical protocol; she should have first talked to the manager who supervised her section.   But as she asked him to help her transfer to the branch office in Tokyo (since she was originally born and raised in Tokyo), he understood her.   And after asking some questions of her, finally he said to her to wait for one more year.

And, one year passed.  She almost forgot what she asked of the executive.  But one day suddenly an assistant manager of the personnel department called her working at her desk, saying dryly by phone, "In a week, you are going to be transferred to the Tokyo office.  Get prepared."

Then she moved to Tokyo and worked in the Tokyo branch office of Toyota.  She became the first female Toyota employee who got transferred.

In a few years since she came to Tokyo, she became a part time reporter and writer for some magazines in the social issue field.

It was because she happened to join a circle of  Tokyo intellectuals and professors in the societal issue field and she presented to them her diary where she had mainly written daily incidents in the Toyota headquarters busy in handling the labor union, since she was asked to show them whatever she had ever written.  Though she had written the diary without any intention but for herself, it was highly praised by then leading figures in the literary arena and the academic world in Tokyo when it was actually published in a certain periodical.

As time further went by, she quit Toyota and grew to be an independent writer in the documentary-style work field.  She succeeded so much to even make frequent TV appearances.  The ex-Toyota female office clerk became one of top female journalists in Japan after WWII.

And finally she died in April 2009, leaving many interesting books she wrote based on direct interviews with various persons and hard work to collect and analyze material.

Fuyuko Kamisaka (June 10, 1930 – April 14, 2009) was a Japanese non-fiction author. 

Kamisaka was born as Yoshiko Niwa in Tokyo on June 10, 1930. Her first work, Shokuba-no gunzo (People at a Place of Work), based on her experiences as a worker for Toyota, was published in 1959 and won a prize for works by new authors.
Her best known work is ""Keishu Nazare-en" about a facility for Japanese widows of South Koreans. [1] 

Other works dealt with Sugamo Prison, the Battle of Iwo Jima and vivisection experiments conducted by the Japanese on prisoners of war.

The single incident that created the greatest commotion in East Asia in the modern history is the Opium War.

The First Anglo-Chinese War (1839–42), known popularly as the First Opium War or simply the Opium War, was fought between the United Kingdom and the Qing Dynasty of China over their conflicting viewpoints on diplomatic relations, trade, and the administration of justice.

There was an ever growing demand for tea in the United Kingdom, while acceptance of only silver in payment by China for tea resulted in large continuous trade deficits.[7] A trade imbalance came into being that was highly unfavourable to Britain. 

By 1817, the British hit upon counter-trading in a narcotic, Indian opium, as a way to both reduce the trade deficit and finally gain profit from the formerly money-losing Indian Colony. The Qing Administration originally tolerated the importation of opium because it created an indirect tax on Chinese subjects, while allowing the British to double tea exports from China to England which profited the monopoly for tea exports of the Qing imperial treasury and its agents. 

However, by 1820 the planting of tea in the Indian and African colonies along with accelerated opium consumption reversed the flow of silver, just when the Imperial Treasury needed to finance suppression of rebellions against the Qing. The Qing government attempted to end the opium trade, but its efforts were complicated by local officials (including the Viceroy of Canton), who profited greatly from the bribes and taxes. 

In 1839, the Daoguang Emperor appointed Lin Zexu as the governor of Canton with the goal of reducing and eliminating the opium trade. On his arrival, Lin Zexu banned the sale of opium, demanded that all opium be surrendered to the Chinese authorities, and required that all foreign traders sign a 'no opium trade' bond the breaking of which was punishable by death. Lin also closed the channel to Canton, effectively holding British traders hostage in Canton

In June 1840, an expeditionary force of 15 barracks ships, 4 steam-powered gunboats and 25 smaller boats with 4000 marines reached Guangdong from Singapore. The marines were headed by James Bremer. Bremer demanded the Qing Government compensate the British for losses suffered from interrupted trade 

By January 1841, British forces commanded the high ground around Canton and defeated the Chinese at Ningbo and at the military post of Dinghai. 

By the middle of 1842, the British had defeated the Chinese at the mouth of their other great riverine trade route, the Yangtze, and were occupying Shanghai. The war finally ended in August 1842, with the signing of China's first Unequal Treaty, the Treaty of Nanking.

The ease with which the British forces had defeated the numerically superior Chinese armies seriously affected the Qing Dynasty's prestige. The success of the First Opium War allowed the British to resume the opium trade. It also paved the way for opening of the lucrative Chinese market to other commerce and the opening of Chinese society to missionary endeavors.

China lost face.   And it took 170 years for China to start to behave as an arrogant empire again.

But it is very important that the bottom line of the British trade in the 19th century came to record a surplus only by its manipulation of opium from India and tea/silver from China.

And this trade system of the UK was only realized through its use of superior military power in India and China.

It is also ironic that this relationship with the UK did not lead to fill-scale modernization of their society in India and China.  But it was Japan that learnt lessons from the Opium War so as to carefully avoid military conflicts with the US and other Western powers when they sailed to Japan to request ending of  Japan's seclusion policy a decade after the Opium War.

By carefully promoting trade with Western powers, Japan succeeded in establishing the modern and Westernized Empire of Japan, especially by applying modern technology to building of mighty navy and army.

As for China, it was from 1980s that its economy and industry started to be modernized with great help from Japan.   And when the UK returned Hong Kong to China in 1997, Chinese economy was already on track to be one of the largest economies in the world, following the US and Japan.



From other perspective, wealth was in India and China but not in England and Europe.

So, after starting the Industrial Revolution, the UK applied new technology to building modern military which they directed to Africa and Asia.  Especially, the UK occupied many sources of wealth in East Asia to enrich itself.  So, the source of wealth was in Asia for the British Empire.

Accordingly it is no wonder that East Asia, including India, is going to be the center of the global economy in the 21st century.

Other source of wealth in the world in this context are of course Japan and the US.    The British Empire could not occupy and exploit wealth in Japan and the US.  The UK could not keep America in its economic territory as the US got independent in 1776.  If the UK had been able to keep America under its governance, the British Empire should be the sole-super power on the earth today.

Japan has never been victimized by the UK, since Japan has never been colonized and invaded by Western powers unlike India, China, and even the US.

One thing very particular about Christ Jesus is that He was killed by soldiers.

Abraham and Moses were not; Buddha was not; Confucius was not; and the founder of Islam was not killed by enemy soldiers, but Christ Jesus was.

In this context, all the people who has been ever born and killed by enemy soldiers could find a friend in Christ Jesus if not in Abraham, Moses, Buddha, and the founder of Islam.

So, all the people facing a fatal threat from enemy soldiers should cry our for help from Christ Jesus if they are Judaists, Muslims, or Buddhists.

Science and technology look like going to pose a great threat to mankind.

With advancement of technology, today even a school boy can get a personal computer which has performance equivalent to that of old super-computers only professionals and experts in first-rate organizations in the world were allowed to use a few decades ago.

If terrorists abuse this power of today's computers, they must be able to design or acquire some dangerous weapons, including  destructive computer viruses.

And ordinary citizens can buy various types of very advanced products that can be easily modified so that  they can use them as destructive weapons, too.

Further, people in the medical science sector can today easily handle and manipulate human genes and cells to produce new or dangerous life or biological weapons.

And, in order to prevent some crazy boys, terrorists, scientists, terror states, etc. from exerting their ability to abuse advanced technology and science, we have to present something more attractive to them, so that they will abandon their malicious plans to pursue other more peaceful interest.

For example, we are actually kind of being forced to allow the young North Korean leader to enjoy very wealthy life so as to stop him from taking a risk of intimidating neighboring rich countries, such as Japan and the US, to extort any material interest.    

In other word, while citizens have globally obtained a dangerous potential by easily accessing high technology and scientific products, if they are not satisfied with their life, they might resort to terror or a kind of terror to destroy the conventional framework of the society, cause a turmoil or a crisis, and then try to steal any wealth.

But we should not promise such citizens any material luxury in exchange of their temporary restraint from abusing technology and science for their material desire.

Rather we must persuade such citizens to behave like responsible members of the society.  For this cause, we have to reinforce our morals and authentic religions.

However, observing the state of mankind today, probably we will fail in achieving the safe society globally while technology and science are developed even by greedy private companies and greedy professors in the academic sector.

That is why we have to ask Christ Jesus to come to our world again.  His Second Coming can only save the world in this context, since modern technology and science were mostly studied, developed, and put into practical use in the European Christian world.

The age of our universe is said to be 13.75 ± 0.11 billion years.

But there are 7 billion people now living on the earth.

The age of the universe is just twice more than the number of the world population.

In other word if we observe a life of each person in the world for two years in his/her life time, it will take time from the birth and the present state of the universe.

Just like a documentary film for each person in the world, if somebody records two-year long activities of each person in a film and runs it for a check or any purpose, it will take almost 14 billion years which is almost the same as the age of the universe.

So does it mean that there are so many people on this earth?  Or does the period of duration of the universe look a little short?

Or are there any prophesies that the universe will end when its continuance becomes equal to the number of years calculated by assigning two years to each member of mankind living on the globe?

On the other hand, it is said that there were 170 million to 300 million people on the earth when Christ Jesus was born about 2000 years ago.

So, we can assume that there were more than 270 million people on the earth around AD 1.  So at the time, the age of the universe was almost equal to the number of years calculated by assigning 50 years  to each member of mankind living on the globe.

Were there any prophesies, before AD 1, that the Son of God would emerge among human beings when the continuance of the universe became equal to the number of years calculated by assigning 50 years to each member of mankind living on the globe?

From other perspective, this 2000-year long history since the First Coming of Christ Jesus must look like just 48 years for the God or some of His Angel.

Otherwise, we may come to feel the universe or the God in the magnitude of 2/50 = 4% of that in which people felt the Creator 2000 years ago.  We are now 96% less pious than those who were living 2000 years ago.

So, the Second Coming of Christ has been so crucially wanted.

If you are given the holy spirit, you will be surely able to see what others think.

You will know whether or not a man is dangerous to you.  You will know whether or not a road you walk on is dangerous.  You will see if a jet plane or other vehicle is dangerous or not.

And you will hear cries of evil spirits.   They are shouting at, coursing, and  blaming people.

You can even here an evil spirit inside other man speak horrible words.

They cry as they are punished by Holy Angels.  They lament  as they are condemned by Holy Angels.  They express their cruelty and hate so terribly.

Yet, you can still live in peace the God has given to you.

If you walk on a street of a town in a big city where poor workers, daily workers, welfare recipients, the unemployed, etc., live and spend time, you would surely see not only their outlooks  but also their spirits.  And most of them should look great, since the God has sent some Holy Spirit to them.

But if you walk on Wall Street, you would find a very mean spirit in every worker there who put on expensive clothes.

This is the situation that has not changed so much since the First Coming of Christ Jesus, though.

Frozen poisonous jiao-zi, Chinese-origin dumpling with minced pork and vegetable stuffing, called gyozas in Japanese were exported  to Japan several years ago.

The food products harmed some Japanese consumers from late 2007 to 2008.　Total 1700 Japanese people reported health problems they suffered after having taken the frozen foods imported from China.

It caused a big turmoil in Japan.  The Japanese Government requested the Chinese authorities to investigate the case and improve quality of Chinese foods to be exported to Japan.

Then in 2010 the Chinese police arrested an ex-worker of a company which made the frozen gyozas.

The criminal person was not a full-time worker.  He had complaints about his status in a plant, so that he picked up  a syringe on the floor of a medical room.  He used it to inject some agricultural chemical liquid into bags of completed frozen gyozas.

Recently a Japanese newspaper reporter visited the home of this criminal.  It was in a very local village in China.

As he arrived at the house, the old father of the gyoza poisoner rushed to the door from the roof where he was working.  He shouted, "Have you come to tell me about my son?"

According the poor farmer, since his son aged 36 was arrested, there were no messages and no information about him coming to this poor farm house in a poor village.  

The Chinese police never revealed what happened to the criminal.   So, some parties concerned suspect that the police coerced the ex-part time worker into making a false confession.

Yet, there is noway to ascertain what really happened with him.

Anyway, since then, there has been in Japan no filing of cases of contaminated frozen gyozas imported from China.

But, one poor father seems to be still waiting for his son to be released by the police in China while nobody talks about the incident any more in Japan nowadays.

As everybody has discussed, Mr. Obama succeeded in gaining support from Hispanics and European American women, especially, in Ohio.

If European Americans account for 65% of US voters and Mr. Romney can get support from 70% of them, he can secure 45% of votes among all the American voters.

To win the election, Mr. Romney had to win 5 points more, but from whom?

Hispanics voters seem to account for 14% of the total voters; then Mr. Romney had to acquire one third of their ballots, namely 5% in all the voters.  And the result of the 2012 Presidential Election tells that Mr. Romney actually got 30% of Hispanics voters.  It made Mr. Romney's share almost 50%.  But the real statics shows that Mr. Romney got just a little over 48%.

It means that Mr. Romney failed in securing women voters among European Americans, excluding influences of African Americans and Asian Americans who would vote for a Republican candidate or a Democratic candidate based on their basic preference.

Especially, "white" women in Ohio counted.  They decided this case.

But why did Mr. Romney fail in enjoying overwhelming support from European American woman voters?

It is religion.  In my sense, it is religion.  

Those women must have read the Bible not to be convinced of power of Christ and the God, and then saw a white who observed a strange school of Christianity and a black one, younger, who might be influenced by some Islamic creeds.   And then white women opted to vote for the latter.

It implies that those women are leaving farther Christianity and as far as to the religion of Mr. Obama whose late father was a Muslim.  They looked like not being given a spiritual direction.  They must have been at loss so that they tried Mr. Obama.      

Conversely, if Mr. Romney had a strong propensity for the main-stream Christianity similar to one Mr. W. Bush has, he should have been able to get more support from those women to win in Ohio and thus the whole US.

The Republicans should have presented a more main-stream candidate for the US Presidential Election.

It is just beside a lane to the Office Building of  the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.  So, the protesters have been harassed by security guards employed by the Ministry that has been promoting nuclear energy in Japan for decades.

As it is not on the public road, the police cannot arrest them.  Besides, every Friday evening thousands of anti-nuclear energy demonstrators gather and march around  the National Diet Bldg, and the Prime Minister Office near to this street.  Therefore, this way of occupation for protest seems to have acquired a kind of legitimacy for its presence.

Japan and the US are two major countries under possible threat of great natural disasters.

Japan faced the great tsunami in 2011, and the US was shocked by a great October hurricane that hit New York in the middle of the presidential election in 2012.

1495: Columbus encountered a hurricane around Hispaniola Island.

1635:　The most horrible hurricane that ever attacked the north east coast of the US passed Long Island and Boston, accompanied by 20 feet (6.1 meter)-high flood tide.  However, in 1636, the first high education institution was built in a colony on the bay of Massachusetts, which later grew to be Harvard University.

1780: A great hurricane emerged while the US was engaged in the American Revolution led by George Washington, namely the war against the UK for independence.   This calamity caused death for about 22,000 people living around the Caribbean Sea and destroyed the warring British and French fleets.

1938: New York City was hit by a big hurricane.

The New England Hurricane of 1938 (or Great New England Hurricane, Yankee Clipper, Long Island Express, or simply the Great Hurricane) was the first major hurricane to strike New England since 1869. 1992: The most devastating or violent hurricane attacked the US.  This hurricane called Andrew forced the US to suffer total $26 billion (1992 USD) damage.  But destruction it brought about was more than the figure of the damage indicated.  At the time the US President was Mr. George H. W. Bush.

2005: The 2005 hurricane Katrina is costliest hurricane in the US history, requesting $108 billion damage (2005 USD) from the US under governance then-President Mr. W. Bush.

2012:  Then finally President Mr. Obama had to face other shocking hurricane that inundated several lines of the New York subway.

The hurricane caused billions of dollars in damage in the United States, destroyed thousands of homes, left millions without electric service, and killed dozens.

So, hurricanes really look like messengers sent by the God who is transcendental existence over life and death of mankind.

As with the US, Japan also face a possible change in the regime.

The one brought into focus is Mr. Shinzo Aba, a former prime minister of Japan.

He was elected as prime minister in 2006, succeeding the then very popular prime minister Mr. Junichiro Koizumi.  But Mr. Abe resigned next year while his ruing party LDP lost an Upper House Election due to drastic exposure of  poor pension fund management by the Government.  This pension problem affected tens of millions of Japanese citizens.  Most of Japanese voters got angry with irresponsible administration of the Government.  So, the conservative party LDP failed in the election.

Then PM Mr. Abe continued his premiership despite this strong shock wave on his administration.  But he lost the balance of mind and body and his health.   His chronic disease overwhelmed Mr. Abe who became one of the youngest prime minister of Japan after WWII.  So, just after he delivered an opening speech to a new session of the parliament, he fell and  entered the hospital.

The public was astonished and then got angry at Mr. Abe, since PM Mr. Abe should have stepped down before a new session of the national Diet began if he had checked his physical condition so carefully.  It looked like a big shame.  This incident had some influence of the defeat of the LDP in the 2009 general election and the subsequent regime change from the conservative LDP-led government to the socialistic DPJ centric administration.

But now lawmaker Mr. Abe has come back as he was elected as the president of the LDP, which is now an opposition party, again this September.  According to various opinion surveys, it is expected that the LDP will take over power again from the ruling DPJ PM Mr. Noda commands after the next general election.

So, now Mr. Abe is pressing Mr. Noda to resolve the Lower House as Mr. Noda so promised to the former president of LDP Mr. Tanigaki as PM Noda  made the deal with Mr. Tanigaki in this August to get support for passing a critical bill in exchange of holding a snap election Mr. Tanigaki and the LDP wanted.

So, when the general election is held in near future and the LDP wins as expected, Japan will have the first come-back prime minister in this era after WWII.

Yet, incumbent PM Mr. Noda looks die-hard continuing his administration as long as possible.  The biggest concern in the Japanese politics is how and when Mr. Abe, a notable nationalistic politician, can force PM Mr. Noda to hold a decisive and fatal election.

It is as if one era is gone with the stormy wind.

The hurricane caused the biggest turmoil in New York City since the 9/11 Terror of 2001.  It is so impressive as the 2012 Presidential Election is now going on.

But, in 2001, Mr. Barack Obama was an unknown young politician in  Chicago.  And, it was the 2001 Terror that spotlighted him.  Without the cruel suicide attacks on the Pentagon and the World Trade Center allegedly ordered by Osama bin Laden, Mr. Obama had no chance to appeal to the American voters.  Mr. Obama was really the great creature of the age.

And, more than expected, President Mr. Obama took on Osama hiding in Pakistan in the spring of 2011.  Accordingly, Mr. Obama pulled down a curtain for this long show of the War on Osama and Terror.    

It can be more specifically examined why Mr. Obama was chosen for this task to address Islamic terror.  But, was he chosen to handle the present or future financial crisis of the great scale?  And is he really suitable for handling any other type of crises, such as a super-violent hurricane?

To address those critical crises, you need a wider support base.  But, those who support Mr. Obama account for just 36% among European Americans.

As the US has been mostly built on business, technology, science, and culture descendants of Europeans have cultivated and developed for centuries, apart from moral discussions, it is fatally disadvantageous that Mr. Obama is not purely one of those offspring, though he is a son of a European American mother.      

So, Mr. Mitt Romney looks more appropriate for the US presidency.

Daisetsu Suzuki is one of the most respected Buddhist philosopher in Japan even today.

Daisetsu Teitaro Suzuki (October 18, 1870 – July 12, 1966[2]) was a Japanese author of books and essays on Buddhism, Zen and Shin that were instrumental in spreading interest in both Zen and Shin (and Far Eastern philosophy in general) to the West. Suzuki was also a prolific translator of Chinese, Japanese, and Sanskrit literature. Suzuki spent several lengthy stretches teaching or lecturing at Western universities, and devoted many years to a professorship at Otani University, a Japanese Buddhist school.

Daisetsu is well known as a person who introduced Buddhism in the upper society of the U.S.

One day he made a speech in Japan.  He said that he had never seen money when he was a child.

In those days everybody practiced bill-and-hold trade in their daily life, especially in local places in Japan.  General shops and country stores in a village and a local town before WWII usually sold goods and commodities on credit.  People  settled accounts once in a year, or usually at the end of the year.

So, children in a village  went on an errand without holding coins and sometimes with vague notion about what to buy.  But a shop owner could find what the child wanted.  So, he handed goods precisely his or her family wanted.  Such a shop owner even knew what state each family nearby was in.  Then he put it down into a book to collect money at the end of the year.

So, most of local people lived in close human relationships in Japan.  Japanese villages were places to grow and harvest rice mostly.  People ate rice with vegetables, fish and some other animal protein though the Japanese Buddhism forbade meat eating.  The land tax was paid with rice in the samurai era.   However money economy was also  active in big cities such as Edo (Tokyo), Kyoto, and Osaka.

But in a local village where Daisetsu was raised, money was a rare thing for children even in the late 19th century.

Daisetsu Suzuki continued his speech, saying that the Empire of Japan failed in WWII since it had adopted the German philosophy when it abolished the samurai rule and opened the nation to the world in the 1860s.  He continued that someday the world would be stalled if people continued to rely on Western philosophy as the Empire of Japan had experienced.

After WWII, Japanese people switched their philosophical base from the German ideals to the American style of democracy based on the American Christianity.  It has worked so  far well.  But even the US would be lost in maze of complicated situations in the modern society.  Japan would follow suit.

If Japan borrowed any Western philosophy, it should be driven to the wall.  Someday, Japan will have to pay for its easy introduction of foreign philosophy on credit.

So, Daisetsu emphasized that  oriental ideas or the ideals of the East would be needed and wanted in future.

But India has lost Buddhism for 1000 years or more; Chinese has been brainwashed by Western communism and then capitalism without democracy.

Of course, various schools of Buddhism are preserved and practiced by some other people in South East Asia in addition to Tibetans and some other tribes in the east of the Indus River.  And Japan is the largest Asian country that keeps and practices its own version of Buddhism today though Japanese are living in the very Westernized and advanced society.

Put simply, in this context, you can still expect Japan to exert its cultural potential to contribute to salvation of the world, spiritually and materially, as it did in the 20th century when it became the first non-European leading power in the world.

In these four years, President Mr. Obama should have made a full effort to gain support from European Americans or to promote African Americans in the society as much as possible.

But we have not heard that the living standards or the social status of African Americans have been improved so drastically in these four years.

We have neither heard that more and more European Americans have come to respect Mr. Obama, the first African American President.

Maybe President Mr. Obama  has been helping American Muslims or Chinese Americans with all of his resources.

Then, he has opted for his philosophy rather than his success.

By the way if we read the name Romney in the reverse direction, it is "Yen More."  It might suggest "President Romney" is good for Japan.

If we read the name Obama in the reverse direction, it is "Am a Bo..."  It might be a bogy...

It is simple but it has a deep meaning.

The Bible describes the God as the Lord.

It is a little strange; why can the God be the Lord of every human?  Does He use everybody as His servant.  Or otherwise, the Bible must term Him as the supreme observer or watcher of mankind.  But, the Bible uses the title that implicates direct and intimate relationship between the God and a man: the Lord and a servant if not a slave.

If the God created mankind just to see how they will live, fight, and perish, the God must be indeed a cool observer and a cold watcher.  He must have no feeling to see all the human beings get terminated some day in future.  And He would not even send His messengers, His prophets, His angels, and His Son to the human world.

If a good lord has bad servants in a remote place, he would surely send his messenger to them to correct them.   Why?  Because the lord has responsibility for their behaviors and deeds.  As long as the lord admits that they are servant under his authority, he has to guide them and discipline them to make them reasonable servants who do not harm reputation of the lord.

So, as the God created the universe and mankind, he must want the universe to work precisely according to his expectation and mankind to behave precisely according to his expectation.  So, the universe must follow the laws He set.  And mankind must follow the code of conduct he has suggested.

So, the idea that the God sent His Son to this world to save and guide human beings and their souls supports the above idea.  However, His Son just appeared in a restricted place in a specific era just in the appearance of an ordinary man.  So, it would take 2000 years that the coming of His Son to this world has an influence on all over the world.  And in these 2000 years many lived and died in various places on the earth without knowing the fact of the coming of His Son.  It might really puzzle people.

Why did not His Son come at one time in history like a superman flying on a super aircraft which would carry Him all over the world and show Him to everybody living on the earth.  Then only within a month all the Europeans, Africans, Asians, and others would see Him so as to realize that the God is real and His Son is real.  But the God sent His Son as if a human lord had sent his human son to a remote place.

Apart from this puzzle, this relationship, if established or realized, indicates that there is a kind of love between the God and mankind.  From a religious point of view, it is interpreted as that the God tries to save as many souls as possible.  The God is trying to prevent human beings from falling to the hell.  This is indeed love in a religious sense.  So, His Son, namely Christ Jesus, even taught His disciples to call the God Father in Heaven.  It means that we, humans, are allowed to receive love from the God as if we received it from our own true father.

But, still, the basic relationship for the God and mankind is the Lord and servants.   Only though His Son, Christ Jesus, we are allowed to call the God our Father in Heaven and receive love as such.

Yet, in Islam, there is no such a possibility to keep the said relationship.   Muslims are all treated like bad servants before Allah, namely the God.   They are all requested to prostrate themselves when praying to the God.  Muslims are not allowed to call their God the Father in Heaven.

Judaists have a simple relationship  with the God.  The God just created their ancestors.  And the God protects them so long as Judaists have faith in Him.  And Judaists know that their God loves good and hates evil.  It is as if to know their own God was the most important thing.  So, to change their religion or their God is the most serious sin.  Their God mostly requests them to keep faith in Him.  It must have been, however, very difficult in the long human history with full of turmoils, wars, and tragedies to find, always remember, and stick to one God.  So, Judaists have been requested  such a simple thing of.  It looks like a primitive relationship even before the concept of the father and the lord prevailed in the religious sphere.

So, anyway, we have to advance this relationship with the God, since it is the 21st century now.

But what is the relationship to be?  It must be more than the Father and sons and daughters, the Lord and servants, the Creator and creatures, or the Cool Observer and poor living things.

What will it be?

This year while Syrian people were suffering the cruel civil war, Europeans and other people were enjoying the London Olympics games.

This is very bad.  The God must be angry at Europeans and other people.  However as it was one year after 2011 when Japan experienced the huge natural calamity and the nuclear accident, Japanese people had psychological room in their minds to enjoy the sports events.

In 2008, it was bad.  The Beijing Olympics were crazy as athletes were forced to compete in heavily contaminated air of Beijing.  Even before the Olympics games, a big earthquake occurred in southern China, especially, around a region where there were many nuclear weapon related facilities and installations run by the Chinese defense sector.

What was worse, the sub-prime mortgage crisis finally entered its worst phase; the oil price hit the highest level in history; and decisively the Lehman Shock started in Wall Street.

Riding on this exceptionally bad trend, Mr. Barack Obama was elected as US President.

And four years later, today, no American elites passionately talk about the coming of the G2 era, like they did before 2008, where every issue in the world is supposed to be solved by G2, the US and China.

To be fair Barack Obama was a little more circumspect about the way he put it, but it's still a pretty extraordinary statement to make. 

He was careful to begin by saying he welcomed China's "peaceful rise", and believed there could be "friendly and constructive competition" between the two.
But China's leaders, he said, need "to understand that their role is different now than it might have been 20 years ago or 30 years ago when, if they were breaking some rules, it didn't really matter, it didn't have a significant impact".
"Now they have grown up. They are going to have to help manage this process in a responsible way." 

There is a widespread view in America that China's rise is happening because it is willing to flout the rules that others follow, profiting at their expense.

The Bible teaches that a leader in the church should be a godly, moral, ethical person (1 Timothy 3:1-13; Titus 1:6-9). This should apply to political leaders as well. If politicians are going to make wise, God-honoring decisions, they must have a basic morality and worldview on which to base the decisions they are going to have to make. So if there is a clear moral distinction between candidates, as Christians, we should choose the more moral, honest, and ethical of the candidates.

I am sorry but even though Barak Obama is not as much of a Christian as I would like for him to be, I have concluded that neither is John McCain and the Republican Party. The Republicans don't care about the poor, they want to continue to war and continue to see thousands of young Americans losing their lives, and they have no real interest to see a national health care system that supplies health coverage for everyone. Approximately 18,000 people die every year because they did not have health coverage. Is this any better than killing an unborn baby? By the way, during George Bush's presidency, who is supposedly against abortion, who is a Republican, approximately 1.2 million abortions occured every year. Doesn't sound very anti-abortion to me. The Republicans have been in power but abortion has continued.

If you're like me, you have often puzzled over the combination of Christianity and hard-edged conservative politics and, like many progressives, you've probably asked how a religion of love, compassion and selflessness could lead to the positions and tactics that seem so at odds with what we think about Jesus.
Allow me to answer the question — by rejecting its premise.

Consider the very real possibility that Christianity is not what fuels Republican politics but rather that the two co-exist in today's conservative movement, as they do in the hearts and minds of its members. 

Not to say that GOP positions are untethered from Christian ideas and teachings. You'll invariably find religious conservatives citing chapter and verse in their justifications for policy stands against gay marriage, for instance, or for keeping government hands off our wallets and religious practices.

There is no conclusion in this theme, since an individual should stand before the God but not as a political party.

Nonetheless, if Hitler had not authorized the killing of European Judaists before the end of WWII, he might be still regarded as a great German hero even today.

But, if his decision to terminate existence of those Judaists had been found as a lack of his faith in God and some pious Germans could have stopped Hitler based on their religious motivation, we must admit that Christianity or religion is so important as a measure to check politicians.

It was not that crazy Imperial Japanese troops invaded well-governed and peaceful Nation China in 1930s.

There were more complicated backgrounds.

In other word, existence of the Imperial Army in China in 1930s might have been like some European troops stationed in the US during the era of the Civil War in 1860s.

Both the Union Army and  the Confederate Army might have tried to desperately involve such foreign forces in battles going on to turn the situation in favor of them.  If the Union troops had been losing the war, they would have offered the Confederation to cease the fire between them and tie up to fight those foreign troops.  And, meanwhile, the Union Army might have been able to gain strength again, while making the Confederation fight the European Army, and the Union would find a chance to attack the Confederation.  In this case, the European troops were abused.

Nanking Incident 

This event should not be confused with the Nanking Massacre in 1937. 

The Nanking Incident, or Nanjing Incident occurred in March 1927 during the capture of Nanjing by the National Revolutionary Army (NRA) in their Northern Expedition. Foreign warships bombarded Nanjing in defense of the foreign citizens against rioting and looting within the city. Several ships were involved in the engagement, including vessels from Great Britain and the United States. Marines and sailors were also landed for rescue operations. Both Nationalists and Communists soldiers within the NRA participated in the rioting and looting of foreign residents in Nanjing.[1]

Nanking in 1927 was a treaty port located on the southern shores of the Yangtze River, a large waterway that separates northern and southern China. Because the foreign interests in China were largely American and European, squadrons of foreign naval vessels were stationed along the Yangtze to protect their citizens doing business at the treaty ports. The British Royal Navy operated the China Station under Rear Admiral Sir Reginald Tyrwhitt and the United States Navy the Yangtze Patrol; both lasted for around 80 years until World War II.

By March 26, NRA commander Cheng Qian restored order in Nanjing and successfully restrained soldiers from further hostile actions against foreign forces, while requesting the Red Cross to mediate a cease fire with foreign naval vessels. On March 27, with 70 more refugees aboard, Preston left Nanking and headed downriver. Lieutenant Commander G. B. Ashe later recalled that the Chinese had emplaced a field-piece at a river bend outside of Nanking so he ordered general quarters well in advance of the battery, but when the ship went around the bend the Chinese did not fire. By the end of that day all hostilities ended and about 40 people were killed in total. At least one British sailor was killed, and there was only one American casualty, Fireman Ray D. Plumley. American forces involved in the Nanking incident received the Yangtze Service Medal, three sailors also were awarded the Navy Cross.[1][2]

Shanghai massacre of 1927 

The April 12 Incident of 1927 refers to the violent suppression of Chinese Communist Party organizations in Shanghai by the military forces of Chiang Kai-shek and conservative factions in the Kuomintang (Chinese Nationalist Party). Following the incident, conservative KMT elements carried out a full-scale purge of Communists in all areas under their control, and even more violent suppressions occurred in cities such as Guangzhou and Changsha.[1] The purge led to an open split between KMT left and right wings, with Chiang Kai-shek establishing himself as the leader of the right wing at Nanjing in opposition to the original left-wing KMT government in Wuhan.

On April 9 Chiang declared martial law in Shanghai and the Central Control Commission issued the "Party Protection and National Salvation" proclamation, denouncing the Wuhan Nationalist Government's policy of cooperation with CPC. On April 11 Chiang issued a secret order to all provinces under the control of his forces to purge Communists from the KMT. 

Before dawn on April 12 gang members began to attack district offices controlled by the union workers, including Zhabei, Nanshi and Pudong. Under an emergency decree, Chiang ordered the 26th Army to disarm the workers' militias, that process resulting in more than 300 people being killed and wounded. The union workers organized a mass meeting denouncing Chiang Kai-shek on April 13, and thousands of workers and students went to the headquarters of the 2nd Division of the 26th Army to protest. Soldiers opened fire, killing 100 and wounding many more. Chiang dissolved the provisional government of Shanghai, labor unions and all other organizations under Communist control, and reorganized a network of unions with allegiance to the Kuomintang and under the control of Du Yuesheng. Over 1000 Communists were arrested, some 300 were officially executed and more than 5,000 went missing. Western news reports later nicknamed General Bai "The Hewer of Communist Heads".[9] Some National Revolutionary Army commanders with Communist backgrounds who were graduates of Whampoa Military Academy kept their sympathies for the Communists hidden and were not arrested, and many switched their allegiance to the CPC after the start of the Chinese Civil War.[10]
