Sincerity and Humor

Words Japanese like are efforts (doryoku), sincerity (seijitsu), gratitude (kansya/arigato), and so on.

But it is said that Russians include humor in words they like.

And it is beyond Japanese imagination that some foreigners like the word humor.  Of course, the concept humor can be found in the original Japanese culture, but usually we use the English word humor, though in Japanese pronunciation, as it is to mean humor.

Under influence of Buddhism and Confucianism, humor has not been respected in Japan.

And in the Bible, I cannot find many occasions where Christ Jesus showed or expressed His sense of humor.

So, humor might be a kind of luxury for those who need help from Christ Jesus and the God.  Some rich and happy people might enjoy humor in a different manner from some poor and unhappy people.  Humor might work to make a rich man forget his sin.

The Nikkei 225 Index of the Tokyo Stick Market has been in an upward trend since the regime change which occurred in last December.

New Prime Minister Abe changed the governor of the Bank of Japan from Shirakawa to Kuroda who has cooperated with PM Abe to realize a reasonable exit from the 15-year long deflation of the Japanese economy.

Governor Kuroda decided to purchase Gov. bonds from the market and financial institutions almost twice more than in the era of Shirakawa.  After selling bonds they have to the Bank of Japan, Japanese banks must naturally buy stocks in the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

In addition, this huge supply of the yen to the market has led the exchange market to the weaker yen against the US dollar.  Accordingly, prices of stocks of Japanese exporters have been increased, further pushing up the benchmark index of the stock market.

But, recently, it fell 1,000 yen last Thursday and 700 yen today while the index is still around 14,000 yen, almost 500 yen higher than when Shinzo Abe assumed PM office last December.  Anyway, there is a kind of shock and awe among Japanese investors, since foreign investors who buy and sell stocks in the Tokyo market account for 60% of all.

Maybe it is time fore the God to interfere for some serious reasons.

It is important for Americans with Korean and Chinese acquaintances to learn more about the history of East Asia in these centuries:
The process of proto-industrialization grew inline with advances in the agricultural sector. In both Korea and Japan, resources for investment - both human and physical - from the agricultural sector were mobilized for the development of the manufacturing sector (Francks 1999:10). However, in Korea, this occurred mostly in the 20th century. Further, Japan underwent a "Green Revolution" in the last quarter of the 19th century, introducing new agricultural techniques, fertilizers, and high-yielding seed varieties (p.30). Some of these innovations were ported from Japan to Korea, but here too only in the 20th century.  
Advances in agriculture not only lead to accumulation of capital but also contributed to the general development and integration of markets (Tipton 1998:ch.3). This, in turn, affects the way in which individuals interact with each other. As Clark points out (2007: 262), "by 1800 Japan was the closest of the Asian economies to England in terms of social characteristics". A significant increase in village schools occurred during the 19th century, with thousand of them popping up across the country (Nakamura in Clark 2007: 263). As a result, "Literacy rate for men estimated at 40-50 percent by the time of the Meiji Restoration of 1868, and a rate for women of 13-17% percent" (Passin in Clark 2007: 263). In Korea, male literacy in seventeenth century Korea was "probably high by premodern standards, and most likely increased in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries" (Seth 2006: 134). Still, while not much data is available about Korean literacy rates at the end of the 19th century, later records from the early period of the Japanese occupation (1910 and onwards) imply a significantly lower number of schools and overall literacy levels in Korea (Chung 2006: 114).

Confucianism influenced many aspects of Japanese society, including moral code of the Samurai class (Tai 1989: 75). However, due to the diversity of its influence and the subsequent development outcomes (in places such as China, Korea, Vietnam, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Japan) it cannot be considered a substantive factor. In addition, as Fogel points out (1996: 430-434), while "Confucianism enjoyed a significant rejuvenation" during the Tokugawa era, "Korea, China, and Vietnam were far more profoundly ʻConfucianʼ social orders than Japan". Indeed, Chung points out that "Koreans were perhaps even more steeped" in Confucian traditions than the Chinese themselves. He asserts that this adversely affected Koreaʼs economic growth by discouraging economic aspiration, de- emphasising the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship, undervaluing work (as opposed to learning for the sake of learning), and served as a disincentive for capital formation (1989:160-161).

Without help from Japan, Korea looked doomed.  The king and noblemen in Korea had no ability and no intention to modernize or westernize its society and industry to cope with the Russian Empire, European powers, and the US.  But Japan was determined to cope with those invading powers.

In this context, the relationship between the two countries should be reviewed.
At the end of the 16th century, the Bunroku-Keicho War broke off the relationship between Korea and Japan. However, the Tokugawa shogunate started trading again with Korea by concluding the Giyu treaty with the So clan of Tsushima Island in 1609 and established a relationship of almost equality through mutual visits of Korean messengers. Tsushinshi were sent from the Korean side to pay homage to a new shogun or to celebrate the birth of an heir to a shogun. Korean envoys were provided with the same role as an envoy to bring tributes to a Chinese emperor or was used for showing the prestige of Tokugawa shogunate. 
Korea in the 19th century: A severe conflict between at court between Heungseon Daewongun, the biological father of Gojong (king of the Joseon Dynasty), and Gojong's wife Queen Min continued. In 1882, Daewongun was seized by the Qing Dynasty China troops, and confined in Tianjin City (Jingo Incident). The Min family including Queen Min assumed authority, but relations between Japan and Korea did not turn better. Queen Min were changing their policies from pro-Japanese to Qing Dynasty China. In the Sino-Japanese War, When Japan beat China in 1895, the Treaty of Shimonoseki was concluded, and removed China's sovereignty Korea.[51] The Korea moved closer to Russia. Japan became alarmed when Russia enhanced its grip and influence over the Korean peninsula by acquiring vital state assets such as the mining rights in Chongsong and Gyeongwon sold off by Queen Min, timber rights in the north, and tariff rights, and purchased back and restored many of these. (The assassination of Queen Min occurred during this period).   
From a Japanese point of view, Koreans who had been subject to Chinese empires for centuries would have been easily conquered by Russians if they had been left alone.

So, the Empire of Japan had to work on Korean leaders to persuade them to tie up with Japan and defend East Asia from the Russian Empire.  But Korea was not in a state where it could act like a civilized nation.  The Korean society was split between poor and illiterate farmers and the irresponsible Confucius-addicted noble class.  They were virtually waiting for colonization by Russians if not by the UK or France.

Korea had once enjoyed great culture but they had been spoiled by influence of rotten Chinese dynasties over centuries.  They had no resources, unlike Japan, needed for modernization and Westernization.  They needed Japanese interference which however they could not make the best use of.

That is mostly why the Korean Empire had to be annexed to the Empire of Japan in 1910.

These are teaching commonly observed in this world.

But Christ Jesus told to think of success and happiness of your neighbors, accumulate your wealth in Heaven or make the best use of it for good cause, and behave like a dove and a snake.

So, even Christ Jesus gave instruction to behave wisely in society.

It is probably because every natural law equally applies to everybody, including followers of Christ and enemies of Christ.  And the God applies His moral criteria equally to everybody, including followers of Christ and enemies of Christ. 

Accordingly, in any moment, you are not entitled to enjoy your life, which is only once, while your neighbors don't.

Then, who can enjoy his life except the God?

Now you know how terrible it is for you to enjoy your life while the God hasn't yet.

Osaka Mayor Toru Hashimoto is a lawyer who had clients in catering establishment situated in a prostitution district and a gangster-like money lending business in Osaka Prefecture.

But as he happened to make TV appearance so much, some politicians including Shinzo Abe picked up him as a young and rising star in the Japanese politics.

Osaka voters were not fully informed of Hashimoto's dark linkage with gangsters or a kind of gangsters.  But they thought Hashimoto was a lawyer making business with some decent clients, such as Sony and Panasonic.  Besides, Hashimoto graduated from a famous Osaka high-school and then from Waseda University, a first-rate private university in Japan.  So, voters of Osaka Prefecture elected Hashimoto as Governor of Osaka Prefecture, and then after his strategic resignation from the governor's office voters of Osaka City elected him as Mayor of Osaka City.

Hashimoto's relatives include some gangsters or ex-gangsters.  One of his close friends is an ex-popular comedian who was purged from TV business due to his association with the Yamaguchi-Gumi Mafia group, the largest gangster syndicate in Japan.  

But as Hashimoto enjoyed a very high supporting rate till the last year, some national lawmakers tied up with him.  One of them is incumbent Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, though their relationship was mostly developed when the LDP, a party where Abe belongs, was an opposition party before December 2013.  Now it looks like that as Abe has become prime minister again (he was PM in 2006 and 2007, too), Abe does not need Hashimoto so much.

And another politician who is using Hashimoto is ex-Tokyo Governor Shintaro Ishihara who is 80-years old.  Ishihara's eldest son Nobuteru was defeated by Abe last year in the election to choose the head of the LDP.  So, father Ishihara came back to the national assembly to form a new party called, Ishin-no Kai, and set up Hashimoto as the co-president of the Ishin-no Kai Party.

So, three controversial very conservative politicians, Hashimito, Abe, and Ishihara, are trying to lead Japan to a controversial direction.  One of byproducts of their movement is a stupid remark by Hashimoto on women who provided services for soldiers in WWII.  

But this kind of matter should not be handled by a gangster-related guy, such as Hashimoto.

TOKYO (AP) -- Chinese and Japanese government ships exchanged warnings Friday in waters near disputed islands in the East China Sea, while Tokyo called on Beijing to protect its citizens amid anti-Japan protests and reported assaults in China.
Tensions between the Asian giants have flared anew after the Japanese government bought the islands from their private Japanese owners this week. The uninhabited islands, claimed by both countries as well as Taiwan, have become a rallying point for nationalists on both sides.

In response to Japan's purchase, China on Friday sent six surveillance ships into what Japan says are its territorial waters around the islands, called Senkaku by Japan and Diaoyu by China. Japanese coast guard ships radioed warnings to the Chinese vessels and two or three moved out of the territorial waters, said Yasuhiko Oku, a Japanese coast guard official.

The Japanese Government summoned the Chinese Ambassador on Tuesday to protest four Chinese maritime surveillance ships that steamed around in waters for half a day near disputed islands claimed by both countries.

The uninhabited outcroppings in the East China Sea, called Senkakus in Japanese and Diaoyu in Chinese, are controlled by Japan but are also claimed by Beijing and Taiwan.

Deputy Foreign Minister Akitaka Saiki called Ambassador Cheng Yonghua to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after the four Chinese Government ships remained in waters off the islands for about 13 hours on Monday until just after midnight on early Tuesday, said Masaru Sato, a ministry official.

Chinese fighter jets swarming near Senkaku islands


TOKYO: Chinese military planes, mostly fighter jets, made more than 40 flights close to Tokyo-controlled islands at the centre of a territorial dispute on a single day this week, a press report said Saturday.

The flights took place on Tuesday, when eight Chinese marine surveillance ships entered the 12-nautical-mile territorial zone off the islands in the East China Sea, which Japan calls the Senkakus and China calls the Diaoyus, the Sankei Shimbun newspaper reported.

Is God warning America? 
God is waiting and giving people the opportunity to turn to him. He warned America on 9-11, but America refused to acknowledge God! How many 9-11s and Boston bombings will it take before America turns back to God and his word? If we continue to go against his word and follow our own self-centered desires, he will bring judgment. 
God does not enjoy destroying the wicked, but he must punish sin. Water was used in Noah's time, and fire was used for the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. Scientific evidence proves these things to be true! Look how the family is being affected. Allowing abortions and homosexuality in our society has only brought decay, and moral values don't exist anymore. Sin is only breeding more hatred and discord within America. Those who don't believe in God will deny his judgment. 
We were once a nation under God, and we thrived. Look at us now! America needs to repent and acknowledge the God of our fathers. Pray for America.

Anti-Nuclear Tent

There is an anti-nuclear group in Japan who set up and has maintained a tent before the office building of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in Tokyo.

First the Japanese police tried to drive them out, but the lot where they set up the tent was not part of public street.  The police could not apply the traffic law.  The place is within the premises of the Ministry's building.

Then the Ministry tried to oust them from the corner in the premises in vain.  Protesters have never troubled business of the Ministry.  No obstruction has been made to workers and visitors to the Ministry.  Staff of the Ministry handed warning notices to the anti-nuclear protesters in several times but they didn't leave the site.

So, now the Ministry has taken the case to a Tokyo court.

Japanese people have a right to made a demonstration.  The society supports anti-nuclear demonstrations.  So, as long as they do not interfere with business of the Ministry, they are essentially entitled to use a public space to appeal to the government for their anti-nuclear cause.

There are always several demonstrators in the tent of a size of an RV car 24 hours a day, every day since September 2011.

It is said those demonstrators are mostly ex-students of the anti-Vietnam War era of late 1960s and early 1970s.

There are only three types of important elementary particles: a down quark, an up quark, and an electron.

Each of these particles has an anti-particle which has the same amount of mass and the same amount of electric charge but a reversed polar character.

The absolute value of electric charge for these particles is defined as 1/3 for a down quark, 2/3 for an up quark, or 1 for an electron.

However we should redefine them as 1 for a down quark, 2 for an up quark, and 3 for an electron.  The larger the electric charge is, the smaller the mass of an elementary particle is.  So each of these three particles and their anti-particles has 10 MeV (a down quark),  5 MeV (an up quark), and 0.5 MeV (an electron).

It tells how these particles were created from the void before the beginning of this material universe.

At the beginning, of course, a particle "d" having -1 of electric charge and 10 Mev of mass was created.

Next, it was duplicated to be disposed as "d + d."  But total of  -2 of electric charge should be cancelled by emergence of a particle having +2 of electric charge but 5 Mev of mass since the more the absolute value of electric charge is, the less the energy that can be assigned to mass is.

Now, it is "d + d + u" though in the three dimensional space this configuration will soon turn to "d + u + d."  The electric charge of 2 of "u" is split into +1 and +1 so as to balance each minus-one electric charge of the two units of "d."  Therefore it can be expressed as "d + u + d."

And at this stage it can be stable over the void since no more particles are needed to contain electric charge while energy from the void is purely transferred to mass which allows separation of particles from the void to the material universe.

And an electron having electric charge of  -3 was created to allow for combination of one anti-down quark (+1) and one up quark (+2): -3 + 2 + 1 = 0.

Since it is the three-dimensional space, it is enough to have only three different types of electric charge, that is, 1, 2, and 3 including minus values of them.

Why is a neutron stable in an atomic nucleus (where a neutron is combined with a proton) while it is very unstable outside a nucleus?

Very Unstable: (d + u + d), a neutron alone

Stable: (d + u + d) + (u + d + u), an atomic nucleus with a proton  

But it is apparent that the pair looks more stable than the standalone elementary particle if d is expressed with 10 and u with 5 following their mass.


Very Unstable: (10 + 5 + 10)

Stable: (10 + 5 + 10) + (5 + 10 + 5)  => (10 + [5 + 10) + (5] + 10 + 5)


As you see, there can be two combinations (or protons) of (5 + 10 + 5) in the above stable status, if each particle moves more freely and interacts with one another more freely.

It should be noted that a proton (u + d + u) alone is very stable.  In other word, (5 + 10 + 5) is very stable as the heavy quark of 10 or d supports two light quarks of u (5).

This material world is made of hydrogen, carbon, oxygen, chlorine, iron, copper, silver, gold, etc.

These atoms constitute a molecule which forms in aggregate a cell of the human body and other living things, for example.

An atom is made of electrons and an atomic nucleus.  The nucleus consists of protons and neutrons, while a protons and a neutron are made of three quarks, respectively.

Proton: two up quarks and one down quark, expressed as (u + d + u)

Neutron: one up quarks and two down quarks, (d + u + d)

But as d is twice heavier than u, a neutron is unstable, since it looks like one unit of light u supports two units of heavy u.

So, a neutron changes to a proton if placed alone in space.

Anyway, this two types of quarks are basic components that build this material world.  And, it is thought that this material universe is created from the sheer void.  Therefore this void must consist of quarks and anti-quarks since they can negate each other to become null.   In nother word, the void is full of these quarks in the following way:

Void: d + d* + u + u* + d + d* + u + u* + d + d* + u + u* + d + d* +... = 0

But, when a part of (d + d* + u + u* + d + d*) is excited from the void to be separated to (d + u + d) and (d* + u* + d*), a neutron and an anti-neutron are created.  

It is also though that this excitation level is very small so that these newly created neutrons and anti-neutrons are soon engulfed by a surge of void energy to be disintegrated and disappear.

Nonetheless, if neutrons have been upheld at a higher level than the surge of the void energy and a level of anti-neutrons, they can survive to form this material world we now live in.

It is so, since other two essential components, protons and electrons, are induced from neutrons through the following transition.

n → νe* + p + e  
where νe* is an electron antineutrino which has no electric charge and e is an electron. 
  
Of course from the void, a proton (u + d + u) can be directly created in a similar manner.

Anyway, it is very likely that the void is full of up quarks and down quarks in addition to anti-up-quarks and anti-down-quarks disposed side by side in sequence.

But what mechanism works in the transition from a neutron to a proton? 
n → νe* + p + e  
where νe* is an electron antineutrino which has no electric charge. 
The above equation can be expressed in a different manner: 
{d+u+d} =νe* + {u+d+u} + e  
d (-1/3) + u (2/3) + d (-1/3) = u (2/3) + d (-1/3) + u (2/3) + e (-1) + νe* 
Because (0 = -1/3 + 2/3 -1/3) = (1 = 2/3 -1/3 + 2/3) + (-1) 
But this transition has hidden steps. 
Neutron (0) = d (-1/3) + u (2/3) + d (-1/3)  
= d (-1/3) + u (2/3) + d (-1/3) + (0) 
= d (-1/3) + u (2/3) + d (-1/3) + {d* (1/3) + u (2/3) + e (-1)} 
= d (-1/3) + d* (1/3) + u (2/3) +d (-1/3)  + u (2/3) + e (-1)

Where d* (1/3)  is an anti-quark. 
In these hidden steps, an anti-quark is generated to balance electric charge with a newly generated up quark and an electron.
But why can one anti-down quark, one up quark, and one electron emerge?  Of course, the total of electric charge is zero as 1/3 + 2/3 + (-1) = 0.  But there must be a source for creating their mass which is totally 15.5 MeV (= 10 + 5 + 0.5).  To create this amount of mass, it must borrow a certain amount of energy which can be expressed as "-E."

So, correctly the above equation can be expressed as below:   

Neutron (0) = d (-1/3) + u (2/3) + d (-1/3)

= d (-1/3) + u (2/3) + d (-1/3) + (0)

= d (-1/3) + u (2/3) + d (-1/3) + {d* (1/3) + u (2/3) + e (-1)} + (-E)

= d (-1/3) + d* (1/3) + u (2/3) + d (-1/3) + u (2/3) + e (-1) + (-E)

When the down quark and the anti-down quark negate each other, they generate not only an electron antineutrino but also a certain amount of energy E.  This energy offsets the energy borrowed when one anti-down quark, one up quark, and one electron were created.

Finally,  energy is preserved and electric charge is also conserved.

This world is mainly made of three elements.

They are not necessarily electrons, neutrons, and protons, though they together constitute an atom.

They are a down quark (d), an up quark (u), and an electron (e).

A neutron consists of two down quarks and one up quark, while a proton consists of one down quark and two up quarks, since electric charge of a down quark is -1/3 and that of an up quark is +2/3.  An electron has -1 of electric charge.

Neutron (0) = d (-1/3) + u (2/3) + d (-1/3) 

Proton (1) = u (2/3) + d (-1/3) +  u (2/3) 

However it is observed that a neutron placed alone naturally changes to a proton, but a proton placed alone never turns to a neutron.  A neutron cannot sustain its status if it is left alone in space but a proton under the same conditions is very stable.

An entity with d+u+d is unstable but another entity with u+d+u is very stable.

The key to this phenomena is mass of each quark.   Roughly speaking, d (-1/3) has mass of 10 MeV while u (2/3) has mass of 5 MeV.  An electron has mass of 0.5 MeV.


Neutron [25] = d [10] + u [5] + d [10] 

Proton [20] = u [5] + d [10] + u [5] 

Indeed a proton weighs 1.672 621 777 x 10-27kg and a neutron weighs 1.674 927 351 x 10-27kg

By analogy, water is made of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom.  One hydrogen atom weighs 1 g/mol and one oxygen atom 16 g/mol.

Water [18] = H [1] + O [16] + H [1]

Thus, a water molecule is very stable like a proton having a heavy component at the center of its composition.

Conversely, it is supposed that a neutron can be very unstable as it has a light component at the center of its composition.

But what mechanism works in the transition from a neutron to a proton?

n → νe* + p + e

God and Religions

If you were born in Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, or other Islamic nation, you would be probably naturally a Muslim.

If you were born in Italy, the US, Mexico, or other Christian nation, you would be probably naturally a Christian.

However, the relationship between a man and the God should not be subject to any worldly conditions.  No matter where you are born, you must observe the only and right religion.

But as we see, Muslims are conditioned by their birth places and Christians are, too. Accordingly, we cannot trust Islam and Christianity.  Muslims and Christians are conditioned by so many worldly elements and factors to be each a Muslim or a Christian.

However, the concept of God is common.  The God is almighty, omnipotent, and omnipresent.  Muslims and Christians share the same concept of God.  The concept of God is not conditioned by their religions which are in turn conditioned by earthly matters.

So, it is time to concentrate on God.

God is infinite but a religion is not.   If a man's choice of a religion is worth  $3,000 per year, a religion, if a global one, might be priced at $30 billion per year.  Nonetheless compared with the value of the God, both the man's choice and the religions would be only valued at 0, zero, and naught at most.
